According to Merium Webster, gender is the behavioral,...
According to Merium Webster, gender is the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically
associated with one sex. Our gender is not biological. Our sex is biological. Kathy Witterick and
her husband, David Stocker decided to not reveal the sex of their child. In the birth
announcement, instead of saying its a boy or it s a girl they said We ve decided not to share
Storm s sex for now a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the
world could become in Storm s lifetime (a more progressive place?). Witherick explains that When
the baby comes out, even the people who love you the most and know you so intimately, the first
question they ask is, Is it a girl or a boy? If you really want to... Show more content on

A person with agency can make decisions and effect change. I try to connect the ideas of
socialization, performativity and gender neutrality. I try to show how gender neutrality would give
people agency. I used Judith Butler s theory of performativity as a framework for this analysis. I
connected how socialization forces us to perform in certain ways. Socialization is the process by
which a person what society expects for them to be. Socialization effects us from the moment we
arrived on the earth. I actually think that socialization is strongest when we are younger.
I focused on the early years for a very specific reason. Socialization starts with the parents. The
first way we understand a baby is by its gender. One study found that parents have different
expectations for boys and girls a day after the child is born. (Rubin, Provenzano, Luria, 1974) The
mother declaring the sex of the baby is the first step of socialization and loss of personal identity.
I think this moment is important to focus on for many reasons. What the mother says will have
long term consequences it will define how the child is talked to for the rest of their lives.
Newborns are considered to be the most vulnerable members of society. The fact that so much of
their identity is decided at this most vulnerable moment emphasizes how oppressive gender norms
can be. Newborns have their whole lives ahead of them but they have already lost some control of it.

My Career Choice Ever Since I
Education has been my career choice ever since I began high school. Through the many years of
experience education has allowed me to grow in knowledge, understanding, and professionalism.
As I have earned a master s degree and now on a journey to attain a doctorate degree, education is
once again allowing me to develop and stretch myself even more. My family has always been
supportive of my endeavors; of course while I was growing and developing into a young adult my
parents had more of a voice in my decisions and would help point me in the right direction. As I
matured my wife and children filled the role of being the supportive team that I relied on to keep
me grounded. Disruptions of time spent together, activities attended by only one parent and at
times dealing with a parent that was quick to anger because of a lack of sleep or dealing with
stress of another homework assignment due date. There are times I am not engaged with my
family and do not cope well with life s challenges and I don t approach the day very well (Boers,
2012). Along with supporting my educational desires, they have also supported my attempts to
increase my salary by moving from the elementary school level to the high schoollevel. My family
had to learn to deal with a parent being away from home more in the evening because of the
transition from one job to the other. In my present position as an assistant principal I am not
comfortable sharing my deepest feelings with teachers.
Cancun Mexico Research Paper
I am drawn to the thought that vacationing is a way of making everlasting memories, in addition to
encountering many diverse cultures around the world.
Traveling to Cancun, Mexico with my family was one of the best experiences of my life. Our
resort included swim up bars, a multiple bedroom suite, and six pools across a huge beach side
complex. While in Cancun, my mom and I learned the culture by bargaining through shops in the
market. We spent nearly five or six hours in one day trying to bargain for deals and sort our way
through the shops. I remember one time she got a wind chime priced at twenty five dollars, down to
ten. Experiencing a memory like this taught us both that we can find happiness by experiencing new,
unique cultures around the world.
As I cruised to the islands of Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic and Aruba, I realized the
beauty of traveling. Sailing across open waters, and stopping on white sand beaches was something I
could never forget. Breathing in the fresh air was nothing short of amazing. Experiencing these
crystal clear waters was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and something I could only get from
exploring new parts of the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My mom and dad have always told me to do what makes me happy, and worry less about the cost.
Ever since I was ten years old, my family has decided to take a vacation every year right before
school starts. We have been to Disney, on two Caribbean cruises, and Mexico twice. I realize now
that it was one of the smartest decisions my parents could have made for us kids. Growing up and
being able to see places such as Aruba, Florida, and Lake Houses in Wisconsin is something that I
will always be grateful for; visiting these places has taught me that there is so much more that comes
with vacationing besides having
Pros And Cons Of The Executive Branch
...Power over any one thing, if not limited by some obvious and precise affinity, may amount to a
Power over every other. James madison. James Madison s ideas about the American Constitution
(considering he wrote the first draft) clearly reflects his opinion about how one branch should not
have more power than another, and if one happens to be able to exploit a specific power, or given
to much power; it will have power over everything. This is crucial to the inner workings of America
s government because without Branches constantly checking each other, America is just a good as a
Monarchy.
The executive branch has the ability to check the other branches as well as it being constantly
checked on. The president, a major part of the executive branch, has the power to pardon, or
essentially forgive someone, for an offense. Around the time when Richard M. Nixon was
president (in office from 1969 1974) was indicted of attempting to cover up a burglary in the
Watergate Complex. He quickly resigned. He was sentenced and President Gerald Ford pardoned
former president Richard M. Nixon. Gerald Ford regrets My mistakes . The Executive branch also
has the ability to appoint officials working under the legislative branch. A recent example of this
would be when Aaron, Henry Jacob was nominated into the SSAB (Social ... Show more content on

The judiciary system can declare specific laws unconstitutional(against the constitution) and get the
law sent back to congress. The Judicial branch recently declared Obama s healthcare law
unconstitutional, Judge Roger Vinson accepted the argument against Obama healthcare law from
the 26 states that filed against it. The judiciary system can also declare the legislature s actions
unconstitutional. An example of this is when In 1816 congress chartered and imposed taxes upon
The Second Bank of the United States. James W. McCulloch refused to pay the taxes and took
congress to court, the Supreme Court quickly rules the taxes
A King Is The Ruler
A king is the ruler, the maker or laws, and is the heart and representation of a country. Dynasties rise
and fall, under the reign of their king. He is sometime called the chosen one, as he has the power to
either bring the country to its glory, or bring ruin and devastation. Thus, throughout the history of
Israel, the three kings Saul, David, and Solomon where all chosen by God, and each of them had
contributed to the development of the nation.
Before the time of the three kings, those who reign over Israel were the Judges. However, the
beginning of 1 Samuel unfolded the fading of their era (New International Version). By the time
the leadership lay in the hands of Eli and his ungodly sons, God had stopped speaking to them and
gave His guidance to Samuel (Hinson and Yates 163). Thus, in time, Samuel gained his judgeship
and led the nation to victory and peace. However, as he aged, the people wish to have a king.
Since Samuel son s did not proved to be faithful to the Covenant the way their father did, the
people believed it is necessary to requested for a king (Constable, Notes on 1 Samuel). They
claimed: (w)e want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us
and to go out before us and fight our battles (1 Samuel 8: 19 20, NIV). Indeed, having a king would
give the power against other enemies. Nonetheless, the people of Israel ultimately failed to
understand that their true King, the one and only that helped them throughout
Changing American Family
In today s overall population, the structure of family is evolving. People s perspective toward race,
sex, religion, and society has allowed more open entryways in the way that families are developed.
As demonstrated by Natalie Angier, Researchers who look at the structure and headway of the
American familyexpress unsullied amazement at how rapidly the family has changed of late ( The
Changing American Family, 2013). A substantial bit of these critical changes are credited to women
s parity and their passageway into the workforce. In fact, even as fiscal uniqueness develops, the
American families are ending up being more socially populist over all. Social unions within the
unmistakable races, religions, and political get togethers are growing.... Show more content on

A sudden example change towards the ordinary family suggests women would be not have
permission to higher up occupations and they would face input for working outside the home.
Furthermore, as a result of such a development, women would just not work outside; rather they
would raise kids and do family work (Smith, 2010). Women would be dispirited from searching for
cutting edge instruction or they wouldn t have the ability to go to schools by any methods. Having
gotten the benefit to vote would have been way far from reality. Women would be up til now

Satire In Modern Society
Beyond the humor, satire can foreshadow many aspect of the issues that are currently happening in
the modern society. Humans see satire as a form of perception, and within that perception is irony,
humor, and exaggeration of many events currently happening. Furthermore, satire a tool to challenge
and expose many popular ideas, and events. Satireis presented through many topics, events that had
and is happening. Nevertheless, satire can persuade humans to change their opinions on diverse
topics, and their ideal image of something. For example, satire cartoons may be humorous, but it
can be a real eye opener, a great awakening for humans. Within the cartoons, it gives a clear
perspective and understanding of what they re trying to convey to
Jimmy Cross In The Things They Carried
Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried is an interesting story that takes place during the Vietnam
War. O Brien writes in third person omniscient and is only in the head of the main character; First
Lieutenant Jimmy Cross. In the story O Brien describes not only the physical baggage each
soldier carries, but hints at the emotional baggage as well. With this, readers get to see exactly
what goes on in the soldier s minds, but also Cross s mind and what kind of character he is.
Throughout the story Cross confesses profusely about loving Martha, who in return doesn t see
him as a lover but a friend. Martha is Cross s friend and crush who constantly writes to him.
Because Cross is so infatuated with Martha, she clouds his mind almost 24/7. In the beginning of
the story all Cross could think of is Martha, however because of this he... Show more content on

By choosing to daydream about Martha, Cross not only puts himself in danger, but his men as
well. O Brien writes, He pictured Martha s smooth young face, thinking he loved her more than
anything, more than his men, and now Ted Lavender was dead because he loved her so much
and could not stop thinking about her (337 8). Because Cross is thinking of Martha he didn t
realize that there was someone watching his squad, which causes the death of one of the
members, Ted Lavender. With this readers can determine that Cross is not taking the danger of
the war seriously, and is too caught up with his feelings for Martha, even though he knows that
she doesn t feel the same way. This the start of Cross s change in character, and as a consequence
Lavender was now dead, and this was something he would have to carry like a stone in his
stomach for the rest of the war (345). Cross realizes that the death of Lavender is on his hands
because he wasn t serious enough, and would have to carry this death for the rest of war, and

The Death Penalty Case Study
One of the most common misconceptions about the death penalty is that it saves money. Many
citizens in the United States believe that life in prison costs more than the death penalty. Ernest
Goss, an economics professor at Creighton University, conducted a study found that Nebraska spent
$14.6 million dollars in 2015 to maintain capital punishment. Dr. Goss also conducted a cost study
across the country. He estimated that the death penaltycosts states an average of $23.2 million
dollars a year to maintain the death penalty compared to alternative sentences (Goss 4). The cost of
a death penalty case is more because of defense costs, pre trial costs and jury selections, court days
and court costs, prisoncosts, and appeals costs. Defense costs... Show more content on

Two Supreme Court cases proved the unconstitutionality of the death penalty. The first case was
Atkins v. Virginia which took place in 2002. Daryl Atkins was convicted of abduction, armed
robbery, and capital murder. The defense used a foreseeing psychologist, who testified that Atkins
was mentally disabled. In a 6 3 Supreme Court decision ruled that the executions of mentally
disabled criminals are cruel and unusual punishments and violate the Eighth Amendment (Macvaugh
132). The second case, Roper v. Simmons, barred the execution of juveniles. Christopher Simmons
was sentenced to death in 1993 at the age of seventeen. Appeals to state and federal courts lasted till
2002, where each appeal was rejected. After the Supreme Court decision in 2002 that ruled executing
mentally disabled violated the Eight and Fourteenth Amendments was cruel and unusual, the
Missouri Supreme Court decided to reconsider Simmons case. The Missouri court decide 6 3 that
the Supreme Court s 1989 decision in Stanford v. Kentucky, was no longer valid. The case was taken
to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decided in a 5 4 vote that, Standards of decency have
evolved so that executing minors is cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Eighth
Amendment. The court pointed to the worldwide opinion that rejected juveniles receiving the death
penalty. Both cases show in the recent years the scope of death penalty is slowly
Analysis of the Film The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club Introduction In life there are a number of challenges that everyone will go
through. This is a part of discovering who they are and what they want to do with themselves. To
help explain these differences, Erikson introduced his development theory. This helps to address
some of the challenges and needs that person will go through at particular stages in their lives. To
fully understand these phases there will be a focus on two characters from the film The Breakfast
Club and contrasting them with Erikson s theory. Together, these different elements will provide
specific insights that will highlight the transformations and challenges that everyone will go
through during the course of their lives. The Breakfast Club Two characters that will be examined
from the film include Andrew Clark (played Emilio Estevez) and Richard Vernon (portrayed by
Paul Gleason). The setting of the film takes place on a Saturday at a suburban Chicago high school.
The students are arriving for a special session of detention that will take place all day. In the
beginning, everyone is sticking with their traditional stereotypes that were formed from other
perceptions (based upon the social group they belonged to). As the day progresses, everybody begins
to realize that they are more than these commonly held views. Instead, each person has their own
special skills and talents that make them unique. Moreover, all the students and adults are wrestling
with similar challenges at

Beach Metal Detecting Research Paper
Metal detecting on beaches is a popular hobby shared by many people. It is fun and easy, and
your chances of finding some treasure are good. Treasure hunting happens in all types of
environment, but beach metal detecting is one of the more common locations for people who
enjoy this activity. Many people lose something when they go to a beach. You could be lucky
enough to reap the rewards. A coin, ring or other small object dropped in the sand disappears
quickly. People can drop coins, keys or other items while lounging around or playing in the sand.
Someone can easily lose things playing in the water after applying slippery sunscreen. Although
you may not find something every time you go out, imagine the excitement of finding a piece of
gold jewelry or a hundred year old coin. Great finds, easy recovery and pleasant surroundings
make the beach a perfect location for finding lost treasure. Finding a buried coin or piece of
jewelry in the clean sand found on most beaches makes detecting fun for beginners and experienced
hunters. Make sure you have the right kind of metal detector for the area you are hunting. Stay out
of the water if your detector is not water rated, or it can be quickly destroyed. Location is important
in metal detecting. You can learn about spots that haven t been hunted if you do some research. To...

There are several things you can do to insure coming home with more than just trash. Think about
where to find the untapped resource of the beach. Obviously you are bound to find lost treasures
where more people congregate. Find a beach area that is visited by many people but not yet
popular with metal detectorists. There could be a less popular beach a short distance away. Areas
of beaches without lifeguards are probably not visited by people who go in the water; however,
these areas may be frequented by joggers, fishermen, surfers or even dog
