Clique Research Paper
I feel like the clique that I would put myself in is a jock, a jock is given the stereotype athletic,
dumb, and popular. I fit into that group because I am athletic and am very physically active. The
one thing that I feel doesn t put me into that group is being dumb, most of the time the stereotypical
jock wouldn t care about their grades too much, but for me they are my first priority. If I got put into
this cliqueit wouldn t make me feel very good, although I would be called athletic, I still wouldn t
like to be put in a clique that also represents dumb.
One of the things that made me who I am today is sports, everything that happens on the court or on
the field will determine my reputation for the rest of my life, and how I will be treated.

What I Believe (for now) About Teaching, Learning, and Schooling

A young boy stands on a beach surrounded by thousands of starfish stranded in the sand. The boy
picks them up one at a time and tosses them back into the water. An older gentleman walks to his
side and says, Young man, you are wasting your time. There are too many. You cannot even HOPE
to make a difference. The boy smiles at him, picks up another starfish and tosses it into the water,
then says, I made a difference to that one.

Teachers may sometimes feel like that boy on the beach, as if we are fighting a losing battle against
cultural diversity in the classroom, learning difficulties, standardized testing, resistant parents, and ...

As a teacher of literature, I hope I will not spoon feed interpretation to my students and, instead,
give them just a little appetizer to make them hungry enough to nourish their own interpretive skills.
I believe the most effective teachers adhere to the five tenets of constructivist teaching by seeking
students points of view, structuring lessons to challenge students suppositions, recognizing that
students must attach relevance to the curriculum, structuring lessons around big ideas instead of
tidbits of information, and assessing student learning in the context of classroom investigations
rather than as separate events (Brooks Brooks 21). None of this will be easy, of course, and I may
often feel like that boy on the beach tackling that pile of stranded starfish. However, as George
Wood points out in Schools that Work, there has [always] been a person or persons who began the
process of developing a school vision (235). If someone has to start a new trend in education, a
dedicated teacher will not sit around waiting for that someone to be someone else.

But teaching is not an independent entity; it must co exist with the learning process. In fact, Wood
solidifies the relationship between teaching and learning by pointing out that, the most powerful
relationship between a teacher and student comes when they are both learners (27). What Wood
suggests here is that learning is a process that also involves exchange of lessons between
Surprised By Hope Analysis
In the book Surprised by Hope by N. T. Wright, he discusses salvation, the new creation, what our
bodies will be like after Christ returns. Will the heavens come down to earth or will humans go up
to heaven? These are all points that Christians need to ask themselves and begin to think about. He
lays these topics out in clear, concise ways so the reader can comprehend what his points are. All
throughout his book, the theme of a new heavenand new earth are constantly being thrown around.
Wright uses Philippians 3:20 that says, But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a
Savior from there, the Lord JesusChrist to back up his claim that ... (he) will come from heaven to
earth, to change the present situation and state of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Wright, they will be immortal. He puts it like this, In particular, this new body will
be immortal. That is, it will have passed beyond death not just in the temporal sense but also the
ontological sense of no longer being subject to sickness, injury, decay, and death itself (160) This
means that we are going to have stronger, healthier, more perfect bodies that God will give us as a
gift of love. We may not even look the same, something will be different about our bodies. In fact,
when Jesus was resurrected from the dead the disciples did not recognize him. This was a man
whom they had worked for years with and for, yet they did not recognize him in the new body.
Wright claims that this immorality is different than the common idea of immorality. He says that
people believe immorality has to do with souls, not bodies. After I read this, I immediately
disagreed with that, because I have only thought of immorality of souls living forever, not bodies.
After I had thought over this statement a bit more, I found myself agreeing with it. In fact, 2
Corinthians 5:4 says, While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it s not that we
want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so
that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. I knew that verse, yet I still never made the
connections in my head. While our earthly bodies do not go up to heaven, I believe our souls do
until the Lord returns and then we will be raised with our new bodies. If we die before the Lord
returns, then we will be with the Lord in heaven, yet not complete until he returns to the earth. One
thing that Wright says that I do not agree with is, ...immortality is something that only God
possesses by nature and that then he shares, as a gift of grace rather than an innate possession, with
his people (161). I believe that everyone will live forever,
My New Political Ideology Essay
A population s views on political issues may change as different circumstances occur each day. The
environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views
that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views
and my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political scienceclass has influenced
my political ideology.

When this class initially began I was sure, without a doubt I was a conservative. As the semester
progressed I discovered the reasons I was considered conservative. The town a person grows up in,
financial status, social class, age, gender and the race of the individual have a strong influence on a

Cal trans provides a wonderful freeway system for southern Californians to get as far as Los
Angeles and back in time for dinner. Without such wonderful freeway systems and highway
systems, the economy of California would most likely not be as good as it is right now.
Unfortunately I still feel the American people are not ready to vote for the taxes we all pay. The
government is doing a descent job with our taxes; however with changes in the social programs the
American peoples taxes can be considerably lowered.

As a conservative, I still feel that the social class of the individual greatly affects the political
ideology that they have chosen. I have analyzed, that the education of the individual has a great
deal of affect on the political party of their choice. Most liberals are only against conservatives
due to medias bad review of conservatives. The media can affect our lives tremendously if we
believe what they have to say. Education is the key to determining the political party or political
ideology of our choice; therefore education is one of the leading issues many Americans feel
strongly about today. As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our
country. Although there are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the family
must send there children to work to provide

1.Describe the competing business models of traditional textbooks and etextbooks. How do the
customer value propositions of the two textbook formats compare? How are the profit formulas of
paper textbooks and etextbooks different?

The business model of a traditional textbook noticed that they needed growth to keep up in the
competing market so traditional textbook companies began to innovate from just a traditional
textbook to now having add on to the books such as platforms. Textbook companies were faced with
not only other traditional textbook companies but also etextbook companies, rentals, and students
selling there books. The organizations have to continue to make sure that customer value

There is competition amongst Mcgraw hill and Pearson and other big companies to make a profit
and stay in business, there is competition with new entrants in both textbook and etextbook
companies, There is also a competition of innovation and which company will meet its target
audience s demand. Also competition of substitute products such as rent textbooks, used textbook
and etextbook that almost over shadowed the traditional textbook companies business. Of the five
forces of competition I believe that the competitive pressures associated among rival sellers in the
industry is the strongest. I do not believe that of the five forces there is a weak one.

4.What factors are driving change in the textbook industry? What is your assessment of the impact
of these driving forces of change?

The factors that are driving change the textbook industry are the amount of technology that is used
amongst students today such as ipads, kindles and laptops and the demand for online textbooks for
convenience. Another driving change in the addition to textbook industry is the platform such as the
McGraw Hill Connect and the Learn Smart.
My assessment of the impact of these driving forces of change is that the textbook company should
innovate and move towards more electronic textbooks because as technology becomes more

Failure Modes And Effects Analysis
Some key differences concerning the failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and a root cause
analysis (RCA) are clarified. Failure mode and effects analysis is conducted prior to any event.
FMEA is a preventive action used to help prevent a failure. The FMEA committee consists of about
three to four members who all are experts in the designated subject. Through FMEA the committee
helps develop action plans to reduce the risk of failure (Quality One, 2011). RCA is an investigation
that occurs after a sentinel event that is unexpected. Through the RCA you are looking to find out
why did an event occur or not occur, how the event happened, and how to prevent additional events
for occurring (VA National Center for Patient Safety, 2015).
