Societal Injustices Upon Women
Yagulan Srikumar Mrs. JostAP Literature6 November 2017
Societal Injustices Upon Women
Human rights are women s rights, and women s rights are human rights (Hillary Clinton). This is a
very important message that can be applied throughout history to prove the significance of women
during time periods in which they were viewed as substantially lesser than men. Over the years,
women have grown independent, fighting for their rights, changing the gender norms placed on
society and the expectations women are forced to uphold. To successfully do this, women have
evolved their mindset on how life should run to accommodate for gender equality. This evolution in
the mindset of women is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She decides that she will become an independent woman, allowing her to not be tethered down by
the conservative views of her husband as well. She faked being a part of society and was
becoming herself and daily casting aside that fictitious self which we assume like a garment with
which to appear before the world (Chopin 108). Although she despised society itself, she couldn t
leave at first due to all the material and emotional tethers she had to the world, such as her kids,
her husband, her estate. Later on however, she slowly started to detach herself from these tethers.
Edna also gets the advice at one point that, The bird that would soar above the level plain of
tradition and prejudice must have strong wings. It is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings
bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth. (Chopin 138). The passage proves exactly how hard
it is for a woman to be independent. Any man can soar, regardless of how weak his wings are, yet
for a woman, she must have the wit of a hawk and the strength of an eagle to truly soar past
society and its stereotypes. This also proves a great example of imagery s effect as the analogy to
the bird and the descriptive words such as soar and prejudice induce the reader to imagine an
image in which this is occurring, the adjectives and the romantic style of literature aiding in the
vision that is created. In The House on Mango Street , Esperanza is often objectified and is viewed as
Analysis Of The Movie Greasy Lake
Think of a place you would go to, either as a teenager or even a young adult. A place that had no
authority. Somewhere teenagers would go to drink and partake in other illicit behaviors. In T.
Coraghessan Boyle s short story Greasy Lake, three eighteen year old boys are looking for mischief
during their third night of summer break from college, sometime in the late 60 s. After driving
through the streets of a town, they end up at Greasy Lake, the worst ecologically conditioned
lake. This setting not only motivated the three boys to engage in dangerous behaviors but was the
main influence on the majority of the plot and even the main theme, corruption. During this story,
three teenage boys; the protagonistand his two friends try to act like the bad boys during this era.
We wore torn up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in our mouths, sniffed glue and
ether and what somebody claimed cocaine is how the narrator of this story explained the three
boys acting out in a rebellious, bad boy manner (365; par. 1). Boyle tells us through the narrator of
the story, that it is a time when it is good to be bad. The night begins when Digby, Jeff, and the
narrator head out for the evening in his mother s Bel Air. They end up at the local hangout spot
right outside of the town, formally known as Greasy Lake. This is when they see a car that they
believe is their friends, and begin harassing him. However, this ended up being a big mistake and
the anger of the owner of
Stereotypes Of Belonging In Society
My theme report is exploring safe stereotypes and how it impacts belonging in society. My four
texts are Mother s love your sons by glenn Colquhoun, Billy elliot directed by stephen daldry, Big
brother little sister by witi Ihimaera and Captain fantastic directed By matt ross and viggo mortensen.

Mother love your sons enforces the idea of safe stereotypes and how it impacts belonging in society.
The idea of male stereotype afflicted on belonging in society is further developed, interestingly, in
the film Billy elliot

What mothers love your sons demonstrates is how safe stereotypes allow people to feel.
Stereotypes allow people to feel they belong in their family and society, in a way that being

Collapse of Bronze Age Greece Essay
The Bronze Age in Greece was a period of time in which their civilization flourished. They were a
main power at the time and seemed to have everything they wanted in the palm of their hands.
Many other civilizations have a period of time also known as the Bronze Age, however, the
bronze age of Greece is widely known to be the most prolific and dominant in history. The Greece
Bronze Age is estimated to have lasted from between 8th to 6th century BC to about 146BC.
Nobody knows for sure the exact time period in which it began and ended. However, these are the
dates that are most widely known to be accurate. No other civilization has been able to remain a
dominant world power longer than this time period, which is why this is such an... Show more

All of these civilizations came and went at different times throughout the duration of Bronze Age
Greece. All of them were drastically important in maintaining the great power of the area during a
time of such havoc and turmoil. Much like anything in life, all good things must come to an end
eventually. The Bronze Age Greece almost completely fell by 146BC. There are a number of
different reasons why the collapse of the Bronze Age Greece occurred. In the following sections
we will discuss several reasons for the collapse of this once great society. Possibly the most
important cause for the fall of the Golden Age Greece was the Battle of Corinth. It occurred in
146BC and officially marked the complete fall of the Greek resistance against the Roman
Republic. This was such a destructive turning point for Greece because the city of Corinth
possessed masses of wealth. It was a main hub of activity and politics for the Greece civilization.
The battle occurred during a time when the Roman Republic sought to overtake Greece and all of
its corresponding states. Rome had been proving its great military strength and superiority to
neighboring nations previous to the Battle of Corinth. This period outlines the fall of the Greece
nation and the rise of the Roman Republic. Corinth was one of the most powerful at that time. After
the battle, the rest of Greece fell to the Romans as well. The Greek states tried to hold off and resist

Diagnosing A Psychological Disorder Of The Brain
A disorder of the brain is called a psychological disorder or mental disorder. It affects emotion,
behaviors, and causes thoughts of self harm and can even harm others. Psychological disorders
affect everyday lifestyles. Over the years the definition of psychological disorder has changed
due to new research found. There are a lot of different psychological disorders, all of them affect
the mind in a different way. Diagnosing a psychological disorder can be lengthy. There are lots of
test and steps to decide if or if not the patient has a psychological disorder and what one you have.
The first step to diagnosing a disorder is getting an evaluation from a doctor. They will do a series
of tests and ask questions to decide whether or not the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Still Alice Summary
Still Alice In this assignment, I have the opportunity to write a three page review on the book
called Still Alice . It is indicated that this review is not intended to be a summary of the book, but
a critical analysis of the aging issues presented in the work. Therefore, each book review should
make relevant connections to information discussed in class or found in the reading. The book is
about a woman named Alice Howland who has a great life that she has built for her and her family.
However, after her 50th birthday, she declines straight into an early onset of Alzheimer s disease and
she begins to become increasingly disoriented and forgetful. Further, the book is about how
Alzheimer s disease changes her life, her relationship with her... Show more content on

In the book, readers learn that Alice s mother gave her a butterfly necklace when she was younger.
Further, when Alice was a small child, she cried over the idea that butterflies have a really short
lifespan. However, Alice s mother felt that a short life did not mean a depressing one but a
beautiful one. Therefore, in Alice s mind, she would be like the butterfly, she would have a short
life but a beautiful life. In class, I learned about caregivers and the roles that they play. In the book,
readers understand the conflict that Alice s husband, John, is experiencing when offered a new
position at a different university and his responsibilities to Alice as a caregiver and husband.
Therefore, in class we learned that the biggest challenge with spouse s caregiving is adjusting to
end of parenting, retirement schedules, financial adjustments, and health changes like dependency,
long established roles, and new demands. In the book, it showed that John largely abandoned his
wife to the care of their daughter Lydia. It was Lydia, Alice and John s youngest child and the one
who had a difficult relationship with her mother in the beginning, who had great compassion and
care for her mother. It was also surprising and amazing that Alice s disease brought their relationship
back on track. Therefore, some children s caregiver
Soren Chemical Case Study
1. Why is Soren Chemical struggling to sell Coracle? In particular, please discuss how the channel
structure affects the sales of Coracle.
Soren Chemical is new to developing a consumer brand (it partners with formulators to use private
label branding for its Kailan MW line). Therefore, they are relatively inexperienced with marketing
consumer oriented brands whereby they have to handle directly with wholesalers and also market to
retailers, pool service professionals and consumers. This inexperience might have caused
miscommunication between channels as seen when pool service professionals and specialty
retailers had made inquires about Coracle but only 30% recalled receiving the Coracle material.
Also 70% of them stated that Coracle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To calculate the annual EVC, we need to take reference value plus differentiation value. The
reference value is the cost of substitute, which is ClearBlu s annual cost of $56.25. The
differentiation value includes Coracle s increase in chemical savings. Coracle reduces the need
for additional chlorine, shock treatments and enzymes, thus reducing pool owners annual
chemical cost by 20% to 30% (average of 25%). ClearBlu reduces annual chemical cost by 15%, thus
the increase in savings by Coracle is 10% (25% 15%). The annual chemical cost (excluding
clarifiers) is $300. Calculation of Coracle s annual EVC: $56.25+ 0.1x $300= $86.25.

3. Should Soren Chemical adopt a push or a pull strategy? Why?

Coracle, being a new brand should first adopt a push strategy since there is low brand loyalty and
low brand awareness. This will generate exposure and encourage distributors to stock up on
Coracle. Only 25% of consumers understand and use clarifiers regularly. This shows that there is
low involvement in purchasing decision and perhaps an impulse item as a residential clarifier. And
thus a push strategy is a good way to promote the product. However, since product benefits are not
well understood by consumers, Soren can also adopt a pull strategy in communicating the actual
value of Coracle, and let consumers know about the annual EVC rather than unit cost. It is hard to
promote Coracle to the distributors since they understand that low annual cost of Coracle comes
Teen Messaging Influence On Teens
It s a well known fact that adolescents adore messaging. Overviews indicate it has turned into their
favored type of correspondence, with youths sending and getting a normal of 167 writings for every
day. The greater part of the discourses encompassing messaging and adolescents have concentrated
on the impact messaging has on social aptitudes and up close and personal social collaborations, and
additionally it being a risky diversion while driving. However, another examination recommends that
while messaging turns into a urgent propensity, it can hurt teenagers scholastically. This affiliation,
notwithstanding, was just found in young ladies. It creates the impression that it is the enthusiastic
idea of messaging, as opposed to sheer recurrence, that is dangerous, lead analyst Kelly M. Lister
Landman, PhD, of Delaware District Junior college, said in an announcement. Enthusiastic
messaging is more mind boggling than recurrence of messaging. It includes attempting and
neglecting to reduce messaging, getting to be noticeably protective when tested about the conduct,
and feeling disappointed when one can t do it. Lister Landman and her partners reviewed 403
understudies in grades eight and 11 out of a semi rural town in the Midwest. The scientists planned
a scale measuring urgent messaging by asking understudies questions like: How regularly do you
find that you message longer than you proposed? How frequently do you check your writings
previously accomplishing
Essay On Pallas Athena
Pallas Athena Depictions through Art
When I was a little girl many of my friends wanted to be rainbow bright or a spice girl; whereas I
wanted to be the Greek Goddess Athena. Pallas Athena also known as Minerva is a mythological
Goddess in Greek and Roman mythology. Athena was the epitome of feminine strength. Athena is
the Goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, and crafts. Like many of the Greek and Roman Gods
Athena has been the subject of many artists. Even well known artists such as Rembrandt often
known as the greatest of the great (Getlein, pg. 399), Benoît Suvée, Buchel, and Parmigianino have
brought Athena to life. Each artists depiction of Athena have similarities and differences. From their
use of color to the contouring of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears the artist wanted our focus to be more on the angel on her chest rather than her face at
all. I feel her depiction is unique as she is shown with very blonde hair. Oil painting was the most
popular of the time (Getlein, pg. 164) and used by all four artists. Parmigianino gave Athena a softer
more feminine face using delicate contours of her jaw and nose. Without knowing Athena is the
Goddess of strategic warfare one would believe this to just be a beautiful painting of a beautiful
woman. Parmigianino did not showcase the fierceness of Athena instead he focused more on the
youthful virgin like appearance.
Next is Rembrandt s piece created in 1655. Rembrandt s piece shows what is called Baroque.
Baroque paintings usually had very vibrant color and exaggerated light sources (Getlin pg. 388).
Rembrandt s Pallas Athena we can clearly see reds and golds due to the strikingly bright light
shining on her face. This piece really shows the warrior side of Athena. Parmigianino s depiction
has Athena appearing more feminine and delicate whereas Rembrandt s shows a more masculine
figure. In Rembrandt s piece Athena is standing in full armor. You can barely see her brown curly
hair under her helmet. This piece also shows Athena s relation to the owl. The owl being the sign
of wisdom is very often shown in depictions of Athena. Here Rembrandt displays the owl boldly on
her helmet. This piece is very dark. Unlike
Loss Of Innocence
Loss of Innocence

At the first glance at the poem, The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake, it seems to be about the
mistreatment of children, owever, after more in depth reading it proves to show much more than
that. Blake s poem is about loss of innocence, death, exploitation, and oppression for unwanted
children (Heath, S, 2011). By cleverly describing the deplorable livings conditions, the horrible
treatment, the dreams of a better life with a father who loves them and the fear of an inevitable
death, Blake masterfully allows the reader to see through the sad eyes of a chimney sweep child.
Emotion Evoking
In the poem The Chimney Sweeper , Blake narrates using detailed imagery throughout this poem.
The opening line states When my mother died I was very young/And my father sold me while yet
my tongue/could scarcely cry weep! Weep! weep! weep! (1 3), which implies this child, is very
young. As the poem progresses, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Blake is narrating, the feeling sadness in his words is demonstrated as he says, When my
mother died I was young/And my father sold me while yet my tongue/Could scarcely cry weep!
weep! weep! (1 2). There is sharpness in the words because children are being used and caused an
early death. The title is The Chimney Sweeper singular, but it means chimney sweepers as a
whole. Tom Dacre is the voice for all chimney sweep children. The images of many small helpless
children covered in soot create an image that is heartbreaking and angers the reader. Blake s tone
is matter of fact with no child like understanding or compassion. There is only one simile included
in the poem, which is Tom s hair that is comparing it to lamb s hair. There is an underlining
statement by Blake that has a bit of sarcasm in it when he says, If he s be a good boy , as to imply
he was bad if he did not perform properly. There is a rhyme to this poem similar to a nursery
rhyme, which adds to the loss of innocence of
