Solutions to Lowering the Risks of the Hajj s #1 Issue
Air pollution greatly impacts the Hajj. According to Homeland Security News Wire
(2014), this great risk is due to the population (3 4 million people) that experiences the 5 day
journey and it is also due to the effects that Mecca has before the Hajj (p. 1). And according to
Urton (2014), however, by 2025, 1 2 million more Muslims are predicted to take the spiritual
journey. The Hajj is a tradition is for Muslims. This spiritual journey represents one of the Five
Pillars of Islam, according to Fetini (2009), and it is the pilgrimage to Mecca. Particularly during
the Hajj, Mecca must lower its air pollution in order for residents and visitors to avoid facing the
specific health problems due to the smog and other debris in the air.
During the Hajj, people can take cars, busses, or trains, with traffic lasting up to an hour long, if they
prefer them instead of walking. The utilizations of these excess vehicles create exhaust, which
contributes to smog in the air. With the transportation on wheels, there are many environmental
issues during the Hajj in Mecca. The main one is air pollution. Contributors include vehicle exhaust,
benzene high gasoline, coolants, and sprays. Homeland Security News
Wire (2014) claimed, Air pollution is the cause of one in
Causes and Treatments of Peptic Ulcer Disease
A peptic ulcer can be defined as an excavation that forms in the mucosal wall of the stomach, in
the pylorus, in the duodenum, or in the esophagus (Brunner, Suddarth and Smeltzer, 2008).
According to Fromm, (2009) Helobactor pylori is a gram negative bacteria that is the cause of
most peptic ulcer disease and is considered a primary risk factor in the development of gastic
cancer (pg. 394). Other causes include stress, and excessive secrtion of Hydrochloric acid in the
stomach. Transmission of H. pylori according to Gurney, Carvalho, Gonzalez, Galaviz Sonstein
(2014) states there is strong research supporting that H. pylori can be spread person to person
through direct contact with saliva, vomit, or fecal matter (pg. 393). H. Pylori is more prevalent in
crowded areas without reliable access to clean water. Other risk factors include poor hygiene,
smoking, and close living conditions with someone who is infected with H. pylori. Symptoms of an
ulcer include a burning sensation in the stomach and esophagus, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation
and bleeding. Treatment of Peptic UlcerDisease includes antibiotics to eradicate H. pylori bacteria;
proton pump inhibitors are used to treat NSAID induced ulcers and other ulcers not associated with
the bacterial infection, smoking cessation and dietary modifications. Surgical management is
recommended for ulcers that fail to heal after 12 16 months of treatments and the procedures include
pyloroplasy, anrectomy or vagotomy.
Female Genital Mutilation Research Paper
Female Genital Mutilation is a very large issue in many countries around the world. Female
Genital Mutilation (FGM) refers to all procedures including partial or total removal of the
external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non medical reasons
(WHO, 1). There are four types of FGM, but type I and II are the most common for women and
children to partake in. There are about 100 140 million girls and women who are subjected to this
harmful practice around the world (WHO, 1). This practice has been a part of the cultural norms of
many societies since the pre colonial time and is still a major issue for the countries that participate
in this harmful practice. Genital Mutilation is most prevalent on the continent... Show more content

FGM is a global issue with slow decline of the prevalence, but as these organizations work
together, they can great an even greater awareness to the issue. The strengths that the NCTPE
had was all of the outreach activities that they proved to create awareness and education to
women and men about this global issue. Another strength is their philosophies for FGM. They
want to help the women and children who suffer from FGM and help them have a healthy
lifestyle and body. Not only is their philosophy very positive and influential, but so is there logo.
The logo symbolizes a piece of the process for FGM, a piece of the effects of FGM and the what
should be done to help prevent these women and children from genital mutilation. One downfall
to the NCTPE and many other organizations is the fact that no matter how well developed their
philosophies are there will continue to be a very slow decline in the prevalence and the complete
elimination of FGM will take a very long time to achieve. I think that this can be related back to
the book in a way that gender equality, no matter the topic has taken a very long time to achieve.
Whether this be in equal pay, voting rights or sexual violence and assault, this issues have and
will continue to slowly get better. All of these issues are global and can really have an impact on
women, organizations and governmental policies will only slowly begin to change. All of these
organizations that are based for the equal rights of women work hard every day so that women can
soon have the same rights as men. I think that NCTPE is working to allow these women and young
children to have control over their body and not feel culturally obligated to do something that harms

Personal Freedom And Its Impact On Society
Individuality and excessive personal freedom does not threaten a harmonious, productive society
as a matter of fact it improves society as a whole. If everyone was exactly the same, then there
could not be an advancement in society because there is no exchange in ideas since all ideas are
the same. A difference in ideas is important because it helps us learn from each others mistakes
and achievements and improve upon from them in future generations to come. Personal freedom
is another important aspect because it gives us a chance as a society to explore the world around
us. If we had our freedoms majorly restricted, humans would be unable to comprehend how the
world around them actually works because they would believe whatever the leaders in their
society tell them and the population in that community would follow through on whatever they
said without much critical thinking. Personal freedom is important to a productive society
because it would introduce a more intelligent group of people capable of thinking for themselves,
if we have a lot of individuals who are capable of thinking analytically we could have a more
productive society that can discover new ways to make the Earth a better place for all of its
inhabitants. As humans, we are all born differently whether it be from physical appearance,
national origin, gender, ect. This piece of diversity is important to society because it gives us all a
chance to learn from other perspectives of life and as a result of

meaning that the ship was operating under a higher readiness alert against terrorist. This

brought concern to not only the navy but also congress.

U.s. Auto Parts Industry
Despite recent growth, the U.S. motor vehicle sector is still behind. Total U.S. motor vehicle
sector sales in 2011 were 48.1 percent below sales in 2000 because of declining overall demand and
significant long term loss of market share. The U.S. auto parts industry is particularly vulnerable.
The U.S. trade deficit in auto parts increased from $9.5 billion in 2000 to $31.2 billion in 2010.
Exports support U.S. jobs, but imports displace production that would support domestic
employment; thus, on balance, trade deficits tend to increase unemployment (holding everything
else in the economy constant). The U.S. auto parts industry is threatened by Chinese practices.

Why Grades Are Not Acceptable Methods For Student Learning
When helping Northern Arizona University (NAU) address Core Component 4. B, a colleague was
overheard making a comment. The colleague said We already do assessment. We give grade and
course evaluations. If you want to know how much students are learning, look at their grades and
course evaluations. The following paper will describe why grades are not acceptable methods for
student learning. Additionally, it will propose a few questions that will make course evaluation data
more useful in addressing accreditation requirements. Lastly, it will outline how NAU can
effectively address Core Component 4. B. First, accreditation helps to ensure and improve the quality
of an institution or program. It is a process that uses a set of standards that ensures quality of
education based on measures of student learning. There are many accrediting organizations that
review higher education institutions or specific programs within that institution. Accreditation
provides many things to students and the public by making sure the institution or program lives up
to its promises. For example, students who attend an accredited institution can be assured that
classes will transfer and that the program of study will be accepted by future employers (CHEA,
2010). Accreditors usually focus on student learning outcomes. A good institution will have these
student learning outcomes within its strategic plan which drives all assessment processes. Yet,
despite the obvious need for assessments that can
Drug Use And Drug Related Public Health Concerns Essay

English 101 Index 1293

Persuasive Essay
Countries all over the world are dealing with a rise of drug use and drug related public health
concerns. Many nations adopt vaguely similar methods of battling the War on Drugs , from strict
border control to harsh criminal punishments for drug related offenders, violent or not. Even with
these efforts put in place, many places are not seeing the desired results. Drug use is mainly treated
like a crime, and that may be the problem. Countries that have concerns with rising drug use among
their citizens should follow Portugal in decriminalizing the possession and use of small quantities of
all illicit drugs.
Portugal was in the midst of a drug crisis. A large number Portuguese people that returned to
Portugal after the military dictatorship that ended in 1974 were using drugs. (Thornton) Hard drugs
were getting into the country easily due to open borders. The country saw a surge in numerous
public health concerns such as drug abuse, addiction, overdosing, and new cases of HIV/AIDS. In
1999, nearly one per cent of the population a hundred thousand people were heroin addicts, and
Portugal reported the highest rate of drug related AIDS deaths in the European Union. (Spector)
Initially, the government responded with traditional methods of drug control policies that
criminalized drug users harshly with prison and fines, (Aleem) but the policies weren t working
very well. The
Safety And Sanity Of The United States Trust Fund
You might have heard recently that the United States Trust Fund is currently experiencing a
solvency issue due to an increased cost associated with financing road projects. The members of
the United States Congress, as well as numerous other influential leaders, have been discussing
means of addressing this broken Highway Trust Fund. This issue has been consistently thrown
on the back burner for some time and due to this procrastination an issue that would have been an
easy fix a few years ago has now ballooned into a much larger issue. Lately it seems like every time I
turn on the news I have seen news reports of bridges collapsing and pot holes getting worse, it
scary to think that I will one day have children driving on these roads if... Show more content on

Many politicians have already worked on such solutions but with less than perfect results. In this
article I will describe the solutions that Congress has proposed, the underlying issues with each of
these solutions and discuss what I believe to be a better approach that calls for a quality control
unit to provide regulatory support. To identify a viable solution, the first thing I did was look at
proposed solutions that are being discussed and pinpoint why they were not gaining support.
These solutions have been disregarded by Congress or the public for a number of reasons.
Currently, Congress is as divided as they have been in recent years and due to this divide the
proposed fixes for the Highway Trust Fund haven t gained traction in Congress or widespread
public support. On one side of the divide you have a group that would ignore any solution that has
a gas tax increase attached to it and on the other side you have a group that doesn t want to reward
corporations that have been evading taxes by keeping their profits overseas. There is also a
solution that hasn t gained enough public support due to the dislike of toll roads, I knew to find a
solution that could garner enough support from the public and Congress I had to find the issues that
caused these solutions to stall out. The most discussed fix for the Highway Trust Fund is the gas tax
increase proposal that suggests the current gas tax rate is currently too low and we need to
Process Methodology
Process Methodology The assignment being completed in this report asks the author to complete
a few different questions. The first is which process design strategy each firm uses and the second
is why these two processes would be configured differently. It is then asked what process issues
would be an issue in one factor and not another and then it is asked what would be the competitive
priorities of each. Lastly, the configuration of each facility and how that makes them competitive
is asked. Process Design Strategy The process design strategy of each facility is entirely different.
Androsia manufactures fabrics at a low volume whereas Hershey makes chocolate based products
in bulk for mass consumption. The Androsia process is a lot more labor intensive and the amount
of product produced per hour is a lot less but is much more custom crafted whereas the Hershey
output is massive and is designed, by nature, to be the same from run to run Different Processes
The two processes are absolutely going to be different due to the entirely different nature of what is
being made and how it is being made. With the Androsia factory, the focus is on quality and
craftsmanship while the Hershey process is designed with output and volume in mind. The products
coming out of the factory are entirely different, are entirely different product types (one being food
and the other being fabric) and thus the desired quality outcomes are going to each be meticulous,
but the focus would
Essay on Personality Disorders and Deviant Behavior
Personality Disorders and Deviant Behavior

People who suffer from personality disorders often display deviant behavior. The mental illness itself
is not deviant. They typically have problems with social skills, mood swings, emotional states, and
are often unable to maintain healthy, stable relationships. Many sufferers do not possess the
capability to have genuine emotions, including empathy for others. A personality disorder is the basis
of many circumstances of maladaptive behavior including substance abuse, self harm, suicide, and
criminality. There are ten different personality disorders, each having specific symptoms, but all of
them share certain characteristics. The first of these characteristics is that an ... Show more content on

They may react to supposed character attracts with learned anger and counterattacks. They often
project blame for their own failures onto other people and become very isolated and closed to
others. Because of the isolation, paranoid personality disorders often turn to alcoholism and drug
use. Another personality disorder that often results in isolation is schizoid personality disorder.
This person chooses solitary activities and takes pleasure in few, if any, activities involving
others. Due to the fact that this person does not desire or enjoy close relationships, other than first
degree relatives, the interest in sexual experiences with another person is nonexistent. This lack of
desire for attachment results in a show of emotional coldness. The main deviant behavior of a
schizoid personality is the lack of social interaction. They usually have a restricted range of
emotions in all social settings. They often prefer the life of the recluse or the isolated eccentric.
This type of personality disorder often evolves into a serious psychotic condition known as
schizophrenia. Another type of personality disorder that may turn into schizophrenia is schizotypal
personality disorder. A person who displays this type of behavior also is uncomfortable close
relationships. However, this type of personality disorder often displays eccentrics
The Brandenburg Gate Essay
The Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate is the trademark of Berlin and over the coarse of its life has been the
symbol of peace, victory, power, division, hope, and a united Germany. The gate is a symbol for
Germany much like the Eiffel tower is a symbol for France. The gate is located on the Pariser Platz.
It is the only gate of a series of gates that once stood in Berlin. The gate is located on Berlin s most
famous street the Unter den Linden, or Under the Lime Trees. This street is straight as an arrow, a
mile in length and leads directly to the royal residence. Due to these conditions the gate is visible
from a great distance.

The main architectural design of this landmark has not changed since it was first constructed in
1791. However its symbolism has evolved over the course of Germany s history and has had some
minor architectural changes as a side effect.

In 1806 Napoleon passed beneath this gate as conqueror of Prussia and ordered that The
Quadriga be sent to Paris and that a gate be built for it to sit on. It was exhibited at the Louvre
museum, until the Arc de Triomphe in Paris was finished at which point The Quadriga was
placed atop the Arc de Triomphe. In 1814 The Quadriga was recaptured and brought back to
Berlin. This symbol of peace was changed after the German victory over France and the woman
became Victoria, the goddess of Victory by adding a Prussian eagle on an iron cross to her ensemble.
They also named the square in front of her The Place of Paris .

In 1933 the National Socialists marched through the gate in a martial torch parade, with them came
the darkest chapter of German history, The gate went from being a symbol of victory to a symbol
of the Third Reich. The gate became the starting point for parades down the Straße unter den Linden,
for the Nazi military, that used the gate to symbolize their power. (source 3)
