Militancy In The Pre-Independence

Israeli Militancy in the Pre Independence
The origins of the present day Israeli Defence forces and israeli politics run very far back in the
history of the jewish homeland, even predating the state of israel itself. In the beginning the defence
forces were very unorganized and had goals solely of protection. Through time the jewish militias
developed into different tranches with different purposes and goals. Many times these militias
actually found conflict with each other. There were many changes in the region from the late 19th
century into the mid 20th century. Two world wars, the largest genocide in human history the 1880
1948 held massive significance to the jewish people and eventually ... Show more content on

Zionists became less and less cooperative with the british as the underground militias gained power
through the years. In 1940 a new organization arose as a branch of the Irgun. The Lehi which means
Fighters for Freedom in Israel is a group that sought to fight the british during World War II. Along
with fighting against the british they sought to ally themselves with the German Nazis. The Nazi
s were intrested in getting rid of their jewish population and so the Lehi offered to have them
evacuated to Israel in exchange for alliance in fighting the British. In the weeks before the
Independence war The Irgun and Lehi groups entered neIghborhood Deir Yassin and killed 254
arab residents. This event would be knows as the Deir Yassin Massacre. The founder of the Lehi

Yitzhak Shamir, He had a long history of defying british rule. Arrested many times for undercover
work by the british, and a member of Lehi he was a villain to the british and exiled to Africa. After
independence He joined the Mossad, an intelligence agency in the Israeli Defence Forces. He

Data Retention In Australia
Governments have for centuries attempted to restrict the privacy of their citizens. For some time
now this has also included efforts to regulate citizens communications data by means of collecting
and storing information gathered by providers of communication services. These efforts are referred
to as data retention measures and would grant law enforcement agencies unlimited access to this data
(Clarke, 2014).
Early this year (2015), the Australian Government amended its Telecommunications (Interception
and Access) Act in terms of Data Retention, commonly referred to as metadata . The term metadata
has no formal definition in the Act but has been described as machine produced data, expressed in
terms of data and content (ABC, 2015; Clarke, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The retention of data will indeed make contact with sources challenging, and even frustrating.
However, when has investigative journalism ever been easy? Take Bob Woodward and Carl
Bernstein back in 1972 for example, who relied on unnamed confidential source Deep Throat for
leads on the Watergate scandal involving then President Nixon. Investigative journalism has always
been discrete and conducted in a secretive fashion, so why should metadata retention stop or see a
decline in the work of undercover reporters? It most certainly should not. The media play an
essential role in democracy. It is now more than ever, the time for investigative journalists to
overcome these new obstacles and continue seeking truths and discovering secrets, even under the

T’S Not Always Great Being A Translator. It Can Be Unstable,
t s not always great being a translator. It can be unstable, with too much work one week and none
the next. Sometimes customers may pay you late or not at all (thankfully I haven t experienced this
with any of my fantastic clients). You re never going to make millions, and the deadlines can be
very stressful. But, I love being a translator. Here s why.
1. It s flexible
This is the number one thing I love about being a translator. It gives you so many possibilities and
so much flexibility. Of course, you can choose whether to work in house (in an agency or for a large
organisation with translation requirements), or to freelance. I ve been a part time freelancer for the
last two years, and I m finally making the transition to full time ... Show more content on

I learn new vocabulary and phrases all the time and get a better grasp of the written language over
time. However I also get to use my other favourite skill writing. I ve always spent hours and hours
of my free time writing everything from book and music reviews to fanfiction to essays and blogs,
but now I actually get paid for it.
3. It s always different
Unlike some jobs where you deal with the same thing every day, as a translator you can be
translating an employment contract one day and medical records the next. A marketing brochure
on Monday and a financial report on Friday. And you do get a choice about what area you choose
to translate in. If you re especially interested in fashion, finance or food, you can choose to
specialise in that area and do most of your work in an area that you actually enjoy reading and
writing about. Every time I do a new translation I learn something new from reading and researching
that topic, or at least a few new words or terms.
4. You make your mark on the text
No matter what you translate, from which language and in which subject area, your translation is
always unique! No matter how banal and everyday a text is, no two translators could possibly
translate it in the same way. From which translation you decide to use for a certain term, to your
turn of phrase, to any of the hundreds of tiny decisions you make in any text, you actually put your
own personal stamp on the translation. Unless you re a
Analysis Of Neurosis And Human Growth Written By Karen Horney
Neurosis and Human Growth written by Karen Horney has 15 chapters including: The Search for
Glory, Neurotic Claims, The Tyranny of the Should, Neurotic Pride, Self Hate and Self Contempt,
Alienation from Self, General Measures to Relieve Tension, The Expansive Solutions: the appeal of
mastery, The Self Effacing Solution: the appeal of love, Morbid Dependency, Resignation: the
appeal of freedom, Neurotic Disturbances in HumanRelationships, Neurotic Disturbances in Work,
The Road of Psychoanalytic Therapy, and Theoretical Considerations.
In the first chapter titled, The Search for Glory , Karen Horney explains a human s potential to
develop their own unique thoughts, wishes, interests and feelings, which is their real self. She
describes the real self as, that central inner force, common to all human beings and yet unique in
each, which is the deep source of growth . The real self is all about the individual s depth and
clarity of their own feelings, strength of their own will power, special talents or gifts they might
be born with, and are able to express themselves. The goal as they grow older is to grow toward
self realization. But first to expand their given potentialities, they must be provided with favorable
conditions to grow. These conditions include a warm atmosphere, for a feeling of inner freedom and
security encouraging them to have their own thoughts and feeling, leading them to better self
expression. Next they need the good will of others in order to develop
Heart Of Darkness Racism Quotes
Throughout Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the issue of racism is extremely evident. There
are many themes in this book and I believe that racism is one of them. You can tell that whites are
to be superiors and the blacks are to be inferiors through every aspect of the reading. The Africans
are viewed negatively in every way. The humanity of black people is called in question. (Achebe).
This theme should be recognizable because racism still has its effects on today s world. Today s
form of racism is more stereotyping and bullying, rather than slavery and harsh treatment. The novel
is racist because of the irrational diction, the unfair treatment, and the contrast between the
Europeans and the natives. As you read the Heart of Darkness, there are many harsh words and
descriptions made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In passing, he cast a glance of kindly curiosity and a friendly gleam of big, sound, shiny teeth...
his white calves twinkled sturdily. This quote from Heart of Darkness entails the glorious, God
like white man. A black figure stood up, strode on long black legs, waving long black arms. In
contrast, this quote is a vague description of a black man. This shows that the natives are looked
upon as less than the Europeans. The cannibals are even described as fine fellows. With this being
said, I would assume that the cannibals are white men, even though it isn t given in the book.
Furthermore, the language of the Europeans contrasts the language of the Africans. The Europeans
are exhibited to have a very good sense of language. However, the natives exchanged short grunting
phrases. For example, when the native announced that Kurtz was dead he simply said, Mistah Kurtz
he dead. This makes it seem that the natives are uneducated and less capable compared to the white
men. The Europeans are set on a higher pedestal in every category compared to the
Shouldice s Service Delivery System
Since 1945, Canada based Shouldice Hospital has gained a reputation around the world for their
primary performed surgeries and services in hernia repair. Shouldice s main objective is to take the
inconvenience of being diagnosed with a hernia and turn it into a quick and even enjoyable
experience for their patients. This is all possible through Shouldice s service delivery system,
consisting of selecting patients that do not hold an overly complicated hernia in order to perform a
superior surgical technique established by Dr. Shouldice. The patients endure an active stay to
ensure a proper, speedy recovery, and a quaint estate resembling a country club accompanied with a
pleasant staff and encouraged socializing with other patients that give them a unique experience.
After the patient s stay, Shouldice Hospitalinvites them back for a yearly gala Hernia Reunion
dinner to follow up and provide a complimentary hernia inspection. The lifelong bond that Shouldice
has been able to establish and maintain display the above and beyond service they ve given their
clientele for decades.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire hospital holds a total of 90 beds, 5 operating rooms, 6 examination rooms, and a
laboratory. Despite the size of the hospital, they average 150 operations per week and 7000 to
7500 operations annually. Also, it is important to note that there are only 12 full time surgeons and
7 assistant part time surgeons that handle all operations in 5 day a week period. The last thing to
take into consideration is that each patient stays 3 days out of a week starting the day they arrive.
Although Shouldice s operations seems to be functioning just fine, there is a debate of effectiveness
of whether or not they are fully utilizing their full potential in relation to surgeries performed and
beds being
Mersault s The Stranger
It is the beginning of the book. We know nothing of the plot that is to come, nothing of the narrator
Mersault, and nothing of his eventual demise. The Stranger could have begun with Mersault
introducing himself, or with a description of the setting, but instead it began with the following
quote: Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. I got a telegram from the home:
Mother deceased. Funeral tomorrow. Faithfully ours. That doesn t mean anything. Maybe it was
yesterday.
And that is how The Stranger begins, and Mersault is introduced. This line manages to summarize a
large portion of Mersault s personality in a minimal amount of words. Mersault expresses that the
telegram doesn t mean anything, which at first seems absurd since it clearly informed him of his
mother s death. What is important to realize, is that this statement is in fact true, because Mersault is
focusing on when his mother died, not the fact that she passed away. Due to Mersault s distance
from his mother, both logistically and mentally, her death means nothing to Mersault. What he seems
to be interested in, is when she died. This is evident by the fact that he opens and closes the
paragraph by questioning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Mersault seems to care about her date of death, it would make sense that he would deem the
telegram meaningless, since it fails to mention when she died. Although this
Dennis Wideman Don Henderson Case Study
On the night of January 27th 2016 Calgary Flames forward Dennis Wideman plowed over linesman
Don Henderson from behind, during a game against the Nashville Predators. Henderson was sent to
the hospital where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Dennis Wideman had a hearing with the
NHL and commissioner Gary Bettman gave Wideman a 20 game suspension without pay. Wideman
is an important asset to the Flames organization so the suspension will not only hurt him but his
team who is fighting to make the playoffs. Dennis Wideman feels like his punishment is too harsh
so he is appealing the case but there is a great amount of evidence against him, to much for him to
have his suspension lifted or altered in any way. Dennis Wideman says that the hit
A Study On Bacterial Transformation
Bacterial Transformation
Fiona Obas

U42 Abstract
DNA encodes the genetic instructions for cells to carry out their daily activities. DNA can come in
many forms; plasmids for example are small circular DNA molecules found in most bacterial cells.
Though plasmids may not be essential for the life of bacteria, it can give cells resistance in foreign
environments. For the purpose of this experiment, an ampicillin resistant plasmid is introduced to E.
coli. This is done through a process of genetic engineering called transformation. Transformation
works through the uptake, incorporation, and expression of a foreign gene to alter the genetic code
of a cell. Three conditions are needed for successful transformation: a host, a vector, and a
technique to identify the transformed cells. E. coli is used in this experiment as the host (E. coli is
commonly used in biotechnology due to its rapid rate of growth and short reproduction time). A
vector mediates the transfer of foreign DNA into the host cell. Plasmids are commonly used vectors
that will also be used in this experiment. The procedure of tagging is used in this experiment to
differentiate the transformed cells from those that were not. The learning objectives of this
experiment are to: observe the process of bacterial transformation in an experiment; and demonstrate
a change in phenotype due to uptake and expression of the genes in a known plasmid.

Case Study Alzheimer s Disease
A Look at Alzheimer s Disease: Onset, Care, and Treatment
At some point in our lives we have probably all known someone that had or has dementia.
Dementia is a generalized term that refers to the progressive, irreversible decline in mental
function. Dementia is a disease that not only affects the patient but also affects the patient s loved
ones. Caring for a loved one with dementia can be very difficult and heart breaking but there are lots
of resources to help.
Dementia is caused by irreversible damage to the patient s brain cells and the cells ability to
communicate with one another. There are no specific tests to diagnose dementia. Patients are
diagnosed based on a careful medical history, a physical, blood work, and talking to a doctor ... Show

However, there are treatments, both drug and non drug, that can slow the progression of symptoms.
Drug therapies include cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists. Different
medications are prescribed at different stages of the disease. Donepezil (Aricept), which prevent the
breakdown of acetylcholine, a chemical in the brain that helps with learning and memory, is a
cholinesterase inhibitor that can be prescribed to treat a patient at any stage of the disease. Although
Aricept can be used at any stage, drugs like Rivastigmine (Exelon) and Galantamine (Razadyne), also
cholinesterase inhibitors, are only approved to treat the disease when it is mild or moderate.
Memantine (Namenda) is a NMDA receptor antagonists that is used to treat moderate to severe
Alzheimer s and improves some patient s ability to complete daily tasks. Namzaric is a drug that
combines the cholinesterase inhibitor, donepezil (Aricept), and NMDA receptor antagonists,
memantine (Namenda), in one drug. Along with medications that help with mental symptoms there
are medications like tricyclic antidepressants (trazodone), benzodiazepines (lorazepam),
antipsychotics (risperidone), and sleeping pills (zolpidem), that help with sleep issues that come
with Alzheimer s.
Alzheimer s disease is a complicated disease that research is still trying to figure out. Although age
is the greatest risk factor,
Events That Shaped European History
What were the key events that shaped European History after the decline of the Roman Empire?
There were two institutions that survived the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The first one was
the Eastern Roman Empire, which was known as the Byzantine Empire survived another thousand
years. Its continent is Constantinople, and is considered the largest city in Europe. The Byzantine
emperor was both the leader of state and church, which was controlled by four patriarchs who were
spiritual leaders of the communities. In 527, Justinian was the emperor, and he built the largest
church in the world and the code of Justinian organized Roman law into books that later became the
basis of European Law. He hoped to recreate the old Roman Empire by launching

Nt1310 Unit 3 Penetration Testing
Our company is looking for security threats inside and outside their network. The best way to see
what our network is vulnerable to is to use penetration testing (pen testing) to find the leaks in and

The Critique Of Practical Reason By Immamanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant is a German philosopher of the 18th century, one of the most important
representatives of the German Enlightenment, and a forerunner of the main elements of the idealist
philosophy. He had established two great theories in contrast to each other: one concerning
knowledge, and the other concerning morality. At the end of the Critique if Practical Reason, there
is clearly a strong opposition to the conclusion of the Critique of Pure Reason. Kant s attempt in the
Critique of Judgment is just to correct these contradictions. With this work, Kant deals with themes,
such as those of beauty and art, absent in the two previous critiques. However, he formulates
decisive theses about the subject s transcendental structure and the reconciling,... Show more content

According to Kant, beauty is what pleases universally without concepts. It is the object of aesthetic
pleasure, independent of any form of interest and free from any conceptual. Hence, beauty is subject
to a pure aesthetic judgment. Human being finds beauty through the judgment of taste, it springs
from the feeling of pleasure of the subject. In addition, it is uninterested due to the fact that the
pleasure comes from the simple representation of the object. Pleasure is not about the object itself,
but it concerns the representation developed from the subject. Moreover, beauty is created when
there is a purpose of harmony, of proportion between the parts that makes up the beautiful thing.
Therefore, beauty has an aim, in the sense that it has the purpose of activating the subject s sense of
harmony. According to Kant, the characteristics of beauty are the following: uninteresting pleasure,
universality without concept and lawlessness without law. Kant means that one enjoys the beautiful
thing without having to possess it, one sees the thing as if it was perfectly organized for a
particular purpose. However, one enjoys beauty as if it embodies a rule perfectly, while, in fact, it is
a rule in
