Technical Writing And Creative Writing
Many people are unaware that there are many different types of writing. Writing is used in a wide
variety of different subjects. Some people think that left part of the brain is used for technical
writing and the right side is used for creative writing (Patel). Technical writing is used in the fields of
science, engineering, technology and the health sciences (Nordquist). Creative writingis used in
novels, poems, epics, short stories, screenplays, songs, television scripts, etc. (YourDictionary).
Although they have some minor similarities, the differences between Technical writingand Creative
writingare clear.
Technical Writing Background Technical writing is used in the professional world and is always non
fiction. It helps to provide clear communication so that the contents are completely understood.
Technical writing helps to put your ideas out on the table so that they may be considered. The only
way that you can get patents is by providing exactly what your invention does, so you must be able
to communicate clearly so you can receive a patent. The Society for Technical Communication
(STC) offers this definition of technical writing: the process of gathering information from experts
and presenting it to an audience in a clear, easily understandable form. (Nordquist). The biggest
difference between technical communication and the other kinds of writing you have done is that
technical communication has a somewhat different focus on audience and purpose.
Essay about Brent Staples A Brothers Murder
Brent Staples A Brother s Murder
A belief I feel very strongly about proposes that all problems faced by our society have solutions. If
this belief is true, why do problems still face us today? The answer could be a result of either
laziness by the people in our society in finding these solutions or just the fact that there are too
many problems to solve. Maybe this belief I have is too far out of reach to be true.
On the other hand, Brent Staples, a well respected writer, seems to share this idea with me. In his
works, he displays a great deal of motivation to solve particular problems faced by society. In
quot;A Brother s Murder, quot; he uses a personal account of murder within the streets caused by ...

In most other parts of the country, you can have an argument with one of your best friends and not
get killed over it. Blake was shot six time s by a good friend over an argument about a former
girlfriend.
Brent Staples grew up in the same type of atmosphere as his little brother Blake. As Staples
explains in paragraph four of quot;A Brother s Murder, quot; he chose a different lifestyle. He
disagreed with the childish attitude of the death ridden people on his street. He chose a path of
going to college and leading a successful career. He was lucky enough and smart enough to leave
those streets. quot;Upwardly mobile quot; was how Brent put it. In Blake s lifestyle moving up
means killing more people to gain social standing within his gang.
Brent took a trip to his brother s home to intervene with his situation.
What he saw was someone taken over by life on the streets. He was obsessed by this lifestyle of
teetering between life and death, because that was all for which he had to live. This was clear on
the surface, but his own brother could look deeper. He could see his true human character. Brent
saw his brother as a human being who he cared deeply for and wanted to help. However, when our
society looks at these people killing each other, they see young kids with no hope and no feelings. I
believe this inability to give people a chance is what
Smoking In Public Places
Smoking Ban Backlash
Walking down Boston s Boylston Street at the late hours of the evening, the sidewalks are crowded
with smokers taking their last hauls before entering the bars for a night of drinking.
Due to the smoking ban in all public work areas that has been in effect since May of 2003,
restaurant and bar patrons of Boston bear the cold winter season approaching, and reminisce about
the old days where it was legal to enjoy a smoke with a cocktail at a bar.
In May of 2003, Boston joined 90 other communities that banned smoking in Massachusetts,
prohibiting smoking in all public establishments. There are certain exceptions to the smoking ban
such as lodge halls, nursing homes, and businesses that obtain most of their ... Show more content on

Only five months after the Boston ban took place discussions of a statewide ban immediately
began, and as it gets closer to 2004,the state of Massachusetts inches it s way closer to a statewide
ban.
The Senate recently joined the House of Representatives in backing the statewide ban. The two
branches of legislature will meet in January to revise a draft of the bill for the statewide ban, which
will most likely pass in early 2004 and take effect July 5, 2004, making Massachusetts the 6th state
to ban smoking statewide. California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, and New York have already
passed similar bans.
Governor Mitt Romney will ultimately decide the state bans fate, yet he has not confirmed which
way he leans on this issue.
Many Boston bar and club owners who opposed a city ban now look forward to the statewide ban in
hopes that clientele will return, but most owners had no problem with the smoking to begin with.
I d rather have smoking be allowed to make the customers happy, said Irish born Milan O Shay, a
bartender at the Flann O Brian s Pub in Mission Hill. But since that won t be happening, a statewide
ban gives less of competitive edge to the other towns in the area that have yet to ban smoking.
According to the Boston Globe, a pool hall owner had hopes that the smoking ban in Boston would

Male And Female Rapper Through Their Music
Male vs. Female rapper through their music Rap music is really popular to us, young people, and
sometimes adults, too. In my opinion, I think that rap is a way to allow all of the rappers to
express themselves, their voices, their experience, and their feeling from their life. And in some
other people opinion, they also describe rap music as the story or the voice of the streets.
According to a music articles The birth of Rap: A Look Back from NPR.org website, rap music
was born and began to develop in the middle of year 1970s. They are firstly formed and played by
the Black communities, and then slowly spread out to the world. In rap world, at first they are
only male rappers who use music to express themselves and their pain towards the world. Then,
women also began to rap to be able to express their thoughts more and more. Female and male
rapper are sharing the same purpose of express themselves through their songbut they are different in
the way they use their lyrics, the subject they choose to rap on and the feeling they express to their
fans and their songs listeners.
Female and male rappers are separate themselves when they come to choose their lyrics to rap. I
would say that female rappers are most likely less using negative words to describe thing or
someone else than the male rappers. According to the article From Fly Girls To Bitches and Hos by
Joan Morgan, she stated that male rapper is usually use the word Bitches and Hos when they
describe black
Essay about Van Gogh s Painting Bedroom at Arles
When I first looked at this painting, I thought to myself, quot;It s boring. It s boring to look at. Why
paint a picture of an empty bedroom? quot; However, once I started looking at all the elements, my
mind changed.
Van Gogh s use of line really gives depth and character to the piece. The first line that caught my
eye was the line outlining the bottom of the bed. The strong stroke really gives you a sense of
distance between the bottom of the frame and the floor. Had it been a thin line like those to depict the
floorboards, it would look like the bed was sitting directly on the floor. His use of brush strokes and
the thickness of them vary immensely in the painting to create depth. The strong strokes of ... Show

In regards to depth, the use of lines in the floorboards creates depth, drawing your eye to and from
the back of the room.
Color values are strong in this painting. It goes back to what I said about color, but I believe the
soft hue of the blue walls against the strong hue of the bed frame and floor provides enough contrast
to pull you into the painting. I also like the strong hue of the table. It connects the visual of looking
at the chairs and the bed. When you look at the table, your eye cannot help but look at the other
furniture.
When I look at the texture of the painting, I do get a true sense of a wood floor, a wooden bed
frame and a piece of fabric hanging from a nail. I think he might have used different techniques
for creating various textures in the room. I think the floorboards are of multiple layers of paint, as
to create the tones of the wood. I think that the bed frame, however, is just a single layer of paint,
almost thin in nature. The texture of the glass in the window gives you a sense that there is an
actual surface to the glass. His use of texture gives me a sense that I can walk right into this room.
Obviously, lots of squares and rectangles are used in this painting. It helps the flow of the painting.
When you notice one square or rectangle in the painting, you notice another one close by, which
leads your eye around the room back
What Is The Theme Of Devo And Simran By Eunice De Souza
Dev and Simran is about a modern couple, Dev and Simran living in the suburbs of Mumbai
dealing with the problems of married life and death of their infant daughter. Dev dies and then
Simran is left alone to pick up the bits and pieces of life with the help of their group of close knit
friends, who in different ways personally mourn for Dev and try their best to support and help
Simran pass through this phase. The author Eunice de Souza gives us a clear picture
The story has a remarkable way to portray a different image of friendship, love and commitment. It
shows how uniquely different people juggle with the struggles of daily life silently like a ghost. As
it is said, the true essence of friendship is tested during adversity and not prosperity which is rightly

How Does Vaccination Affect Beef Cattle
Beef Cattle
Vaccinations Vaccinations occur throughout all stages of life for a beef cow. Shortly after a calf is
born, the calf is separated from its mother and restrained in order to receive vaccinations that prevent
sickness and disease in the early stages of life. Following the shots, the calf rejoins its mother. Shots
continue to occur as needed throughout the animal s life.
Sickness Sickness can occur at any stage of the animal s life. Sickness can have numerous effects
on a beef cow, ultimately leading to a changed appetite, decreased energy, and if not treated could
spread to the rest of the herd or lead to death.
Extreme Weather The weather can affect beef cattle during all stages of life. When extreme heat of
extreme cold set in, animals will experience different reactions. In hot weather, there may be a
decrease in appetite due to the heat. On the opposite end, there will be an increased desire for food

Overcrowding livestock in a pen does leave adequate room for the cows to move freely, causing
claustrophobic conditions.
Farm Equipment The use of farm equipment near or around beef cattle can cause stress on all
livestock, regardless of age. If the livestock are unfamiliar with the equipment or the sounds, they
are likely to be spooked from the sounds and sights of the machinery.
Pests Pests like flies, ticks, lice, and mosquitos can all cause stress on beef cattle during any stage
of life. Pests, like lice, can cause irritation to a cows hide. Lice can cause hair loss and rashes
ultimately leaving the animal uncomfortable.
Weaning Weaning in beef cattle can occur when the calf is between 4 7 months. Weaning affects
calves and their mothers. When the calf is separated from the mother, both experience anxiety as
they cannot locate one another and be together as they previously have
The Lack Of Diversity During The Ballet World Essay
The lack of diversity in the ballet world was greatly affected at the discovery of Misty Copeland.
Being an African American dancer, she knew that she would face struggles greater than those that
are already set in the dance world. Although Misty struggled in being accepted, with the love she
had for the art, she desired to be great. Copeland knew that her efforts, passion, and admiration
would distinguish her from other dancers. She did not hesitate in the idea that a she was going to
grow into a successful ballerina. Despite the criticism made upon her at first glance her heart
remained strong and humble, aching to dancethrough every negative comment possible. Misty
Copeland, the face of change to the stereotypical dance world.
Ballet, a classical and stylistic style of dance developed in the 19th Century. Ballet was introduced
by Catherine de Medici of Italy upon her marriage to Henry II, the French King. After their
marriage these early dance styles were then brought into court life in France by Madam Catherine.
The artistic styles of ballet have been modified since the idea of this stylistic dance had emerged in
the 1500 s. When ballet first began, the ruling strictly was revolved regarding a french preference.
Dancer s were first recognized as entertainment for the King. They wore restrictive clothing that
made moving challenging and difficult, such as masks, headdresses, and shoes much as formal
attire,to keep the formal classical French preference. As the art
