The City Of Fort Worth, Texas
I grew up in the suburbs on the North side of Fort Worth, Texas, more specifically Keller, Texas.
Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A M, but when I first
arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of
commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater
that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is mostly
organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. In each housing
development there were at least two schools, ranging from elementary to high school. At the center
of the town is downtown Keller, with the Town Hall at the center of... Show more content on

Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is
so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all
tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite
band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart
and emotion in it, it s something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to
be screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the
singer is saying, it isn t something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite
book, the ore behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style
than today s writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an elegance to it that is
extremely difficult to achieve. My upperclassmen are the heroes in my life right now. Being in
the Corps of Cadets at A M can be difficult sometimes, and without them motivating me and
supporting me, I don t believe I would be able to complete half of the tasks that I have completed.
They inspire me threw greatness and lead me with strength and resolve. My upperclassmen are
who I aspire to be like, I want to be an example for future Corps members such as my upperclassmen
are for me. I am a member of
A Change Of Heart About Animals
Animals have similar characteristics to humans in terms of their physical and psychological states,
thus we have a moral obligation to free them from unnecessary pain. More ethical alternatives to
animal testing are more cost effective, quicker and more reliable. Contrary to what we might think,
animals share similar characteristics with us in terms of their physical and psychological states.
Jeremy Rifkin, author of twenty books on the impact of scientific and technological changes on the
society and the environment, writes in his op ed piece A Change of Heart about Animals, research
which supports animals have behavioral, mental, and emotional states. Koko, a gorilla, was taught
how to use sign language and has mastered more than 1,000 signs and can understand several
thousand English words. To express their sense of individuality, orangutans use mirrors to explore
parts of their bodies they can t otherwise see. A common misconception is animals can t feel
anything, meaning they don t understand suffering. However, elephants appear to experience grief
by mourning for the dead and standing next to their dead kin for days (Rifkin). Also according to
Victoria Braithwaite, a Professor of Fisheries and Biology interested in animal cognition, studies in
her article Hooked on a Myth suggests nociceptors, specialized nerve endings that alert creatures to
feel pain, are found in the mouths of fish. This study proves animals have the ability to experience
pain. Rifkin s
Adversarial System Cooperation
The court component of the justice system does have an adversarial relationship, but cooperation is
a big part of the functionality of our court system. Adversarial relationships are those that has each
group on opposing sides, like the prosecution and the defense in the court component of the criminal
justice system. I agree with the research on criminal courts that cooperation in necessary in order for
the court component to function. Although this is an adversarial system cooperation is seen among
the prosecution and defense to a point in different aspects of the court component out of necessity.
The adversarial nature of the relationship among these two particular court room actors (Prosecution
and Defense) is shown in during the trial, their roles in court, and their roles in plea bargaining....

Discovery is a sign of this cooperation. Discovery in criminal court proceedings is where the
prosecution gives the defense any known evidence that may clear the defendant and obtained
witness statements. Both sides are there to mediate and seek justice for each their own side. All
court personnel, including the accused s own lawyer, tend to be co opted to become agent
mediators who help the accused redefine his situation and restructure his perceptions concomitant
with a plea of guilty. (Cole Gertz, Module 4, page 297). The adversarial role of both parties during
trial is to protect the client. The trial is fought among the defense and prosecution to present all the
facts of a case and to show why the defendant is guilty in the eyes of the prosecution and why the
defendant is not guilty in the eyes of the
How The Rights Of Women Have Changed Since The 1960s And...
As you know many things have changed since the 1960s and 1970s. For instance, women s rights.
Women rights have come a long way in education, work, family life, politics, and sports. But I am
writing to remind you the importance in women s work force. Women have always in a general
manner...been under appreciated. It seemed however that sometimes needs made men realize or
potential. You see during world war 2, nearly all women worked...this was directly related to the fact
that men where away at war. Women worked both hard labor, and intelligent jobs. After they
returned; women gave up their jobs and let men take over. Most women enjoyed the thought of a
house life, but I don t think most knew exactly what they were getting themselves into. Women...

I had a job, although some men seemed to be uncomfortable with the idea. Some businesses only
allowed women as secretary. Now I am not sure about today, but I do know it is still rising. Now
our family even though it is 2017 and women have equal rights...many don t grasp those rights as
they should. Some people don t find the importance, but if they did not have the option I believe
they would. I am old fashioned. I can and will be the first in line. I know the importance, and hope
you learn. Most of our family s females are do not work, unfortanilly they just marry and raise
children...sound familiar. You now have the opportunity to grow up, finish your schooling,
college, and get a great job. You can teach, discover.... run for president. You don t have a limit to
what you do. Today, we are considered equals to men in society. But even today you can find those
few suborn raised individuals that never seem to grasp that concept. I don t think they ever will.
That is why it is important to always remember, so we can always prove those suborn people
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Described as a Sticking Plaster
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been described as a sticking plaster for the problems that
people may bring to counselling (Observer, 19/02/06). With reference to the literature, critically
evaluate the arguments for and against this view. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a
combination of two kinds of therapy; cognitive therapy and behavioural therapy (Bush, 2005). It
has been shown to have a positive impact on a wide range of mood and anxiety disorders, such as
depression, insomnia and panic attacks as well as more recently psychosis (schizophrenia).
However, whether or not CBT actually solves the issue at hand or simply covers it up, as a sticking
plaster (Martin Helmore, 2006) has recently been a topic of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gloaguen (1998) used meta analysis to compare the use of CBT and behavioural therapy in
treating patients with depression. The study was controlled for using waiting list and placebo
controls. CBT was found to be superior when compared to the controls, and also when compared
to behavioural therapy, although most of the behavioural therapy trials analysed were
uncontrolled. This aside, when compared to control groups CBT does have an advantage over
no treatment, which is evidence of the concept that it is better than nothing for individuals
suffering from depression as it can improve their quality of life. A recent trial (DeRubeis et al.,
2005) found antidepressants (serotonin reuptake inhibitors) to be equally as effective in the
treatment of individuals with moderate to severe as CBT. Although both treatments can be seen
as equally effective, the use of CBT does not require people to ingest drugs, so if both are equally
as effective the CBT would be the clear choice for individuals with depression. The evidence for
the area of depression and the usefulness of CBT is mixed, in spite of this, it s merits are clearly
obvious. Another area where CBT is used is in the treatment of individuals with obsessive
compulsive disorder (OCD). The use of CBT in this are has been more successful with not only
alleviating the symptoms of
Elizabeth Proctor Characteristics
Elizabeth Proctor He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him now! Elizabeth
Proctor said this at the end of The Crucible when her husband John Proctor goes to hang. Elizabeth
a very honest and loving mother of three boys, and wife to John Proctor. She was also a very
religious person that would never lie. The personality of Elizabeth Proctoris very similar to mine
because we both portray the traits of being quiet, caring, and a pushover. Elizabeth Proctor and
myself both associate with being quiet. The way Elizabeth shows how she is quiet is when she is
talking to her husband. When she found out about her husband having an affair with Abigail
Williams she kept a cold house, barely speaking more than one word to him. A time I kept to
myself was when I went to county chorus. The first day I didn t stray far from the people I knew
even though there were a ton of new people I could talk to. Another time was when I didn t have
enough confidence to talk to a cute guy I saw at the store. I was way to shy to go up to him so I
missed my chance to talk to him and possibly get his number. Both myself and Elizabeth exhibit the
trait of being quiet.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Elizabeth got to talk to her husband John to try and talk him into confessing to witchcraft,
she show d him how much she cared about him even after everything that s happened. She had
told him that she supported him with whatever decision he made. The way that I m a caring
person is that I m a good listener. Any time I know one of my friends is upset I will call them or
sit down and talk with them letting them spill everything that s on their mind and I ll sit there and
listen to all of it, not judging at all. Another way I m caring is that I always put other people before
myself. On my birthday my friend was upset so I spent the day with her and we went to the movies
then walked around the mall. The common trait between myself and Elizabeth Proctor is
A Comparison Of The Yellow Wallpaper And The Yellow Wallpaper
One similarity between the two works is the that we are limited on where we get our information.
Gilman s short story The Yellow Wallpaper, we see everything through the eyes of the narrator.
The entire story is told from her secret diary when she has the time to write as shown in the line, I
did write for a while in spite of them; but it does exhaust me a good deal having to be so sly about
it (Gilman 527). Due to this, we can only make assumptions based on the information we get from
her. She tells us she is in A colonial mansion, a hereditary estate (Gilman 526) and that she stays in
a big, airy room...It was a nursery first and then a playroom and gymnasium (Gilman 527). However,
once we reach the end of the story, with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However there appears to be an element of truth to her fantasies. In the end the narration returns
to an outside perspective where Dr. Gorski reveals In just one week here, she stabbed an orderly,
started a fire and helped another patient to escape (Snyder). These coincide with actions taken
while within her fantasies which leads us to ask what was really going on. In both Gilman s story
and Snyder s film we are forced to reevaluate what we have been told and lead to believe and discern
for ourselves what was truly fact and what may have only been delusions of someone s mind.
The vivid descriptions in The Yellow Wallpaperhelp to bring the reader along in the narrators
decent into a kind of psychosis. It starts mildly, with her describing the color of wallpaper as
repellant, almost revolting; a smoldering unclean yellow (Gilman 528). As more time passes she
begins to see more things in the paper such as a recurrent spot where the pattern lolls like a broken
neck and two bulbous eyes start at you, and for it have so much expression in an inanimate thing
(Gilman 592). As the pattern and descriptions get more twisted, we get visual clues of the madness
that is slowly consuming the narrator. The color of the paper even begins to become a physical
thing she can smell descried as, creep[ing] all over the house...sulking...hiding...lying in wait for
me...It gets into my hair (Gilman 534). In the end we get a graphic visual representation of her full
psychosis
What Is The Arsenal Essay
Arsenal was founded in 1866 by factory workers of The royal Arsenal. These factory workers first
started the club for something in their spare time but later on became bigger. the club was first
called: Dial Square and later changed its name to Royal Arsenal. They first played in the lower
leagues of English football but in 1893 got promoted to the: Football League where it changed
the name to Woolwich Arsenal. They later started calling themselves The Gunners. This name
was really easy to choose because all the people that worked for the club where also factory
workers of the weapon factory: The Royal Arsenal. The club started playing really well so they
became one of the best in England. They were able to pay a new Stadium in Highbury so they got
rid of the word Woolwich in their name. When the club was at Highbury they won a lot of trophies
and became one of Europe s best. With the great players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp,
Patrick Viera and Saul Campbell they reached the Champions league final after a staggering season
with zero losses. Unfortunately the lost the final in the last few minutes. After the final the... Show

them main sponsor till 2028. The Emirates stadium is just a few blocks away from
Models of Memory
Outline and Evaluate Models of Memory. (12 Marks)
There are roughly four models of memory in total, but two stand out and are used in this particular
specification.
Atkinson and Schifrin s (1968) Multi Store Model is one of them.

Their model suggests that the memory consists of three stores, a sensory store, a short term store
and a long term store; all three have a specific and relatively inflexible function. It stressed that
information for our environment such as the visual or auditory and haptic (by touch) initially goes
into the sensory memory or empirical register. However, it has very limited capacity, and its
duration is very brief, so if we do not notice this much we would forget it, but if we pay attention to
it or think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we then decide to remember the information, it would then go back to the short term memory
where it would be rehearsed.
In the Long term memory, information is encoded as declarative semantic or episodic according
to Tulvig. It is also encoded as semantic memory as stated by Baddeley. The only problem with
this is that the test lacks ecological validity as it was carried out in a laboratory, and that the study
could be criticized in terms of demand characteristics where the people involved could have
already known what results they were aiming for, in which case the results would be biased.
There was also experimenter bias, as the person involved already knew what he was aiming for
and didn t allow for natural course of events. Also the group was not a representative of all the
undergraduates tested. On a Positive note, the study has good reliability as the group was partially
quite big.
This study has been supported by several theories and psychologists as well as statements.
The primacy effect supports this study, as it stresses that through research those who had to recall a
list of items, recalled the first ones and last ones better than those through the middle as earlier items
were rehearsed better and transferred to the Lon term memory whilst later ones were in the short
term memory. As it also suggests, rehearsal was prevented by an interference task, meaning that the

opportunity to turn around one of the most famous brand names in the United States. Ford was

Alan Mulally took the challenge, and stated he would do what many thought was impossible at the

Mulally knew Ford had issues and the first step was to identify those structural issues. The issues
included a wide variety of models and styles of automobiles. A work force that was not

By closing the gaps in the global operations, putting accountability in place and delivering on what
customers wanted, One Ford and Mulally have been a success. Mulally had the vision,
understanding of the contextual variables, and the ability to compile it into an organizational
design. This was the backbone of his success. Mulally is aware that succession planning is the
key to Ford s overall strategy and tactics and has announced his successor COO Mark Fields
(Taylor). One really needs to understand what Mulally really accomplished with One Ford
fourpoint business plan. He was able to keep Ford out of the bailout and focused on growth and
opportunity. He brought a company that looked doomed for Government ownership into
profitability and success, and is still one of the leaders in the industry. Mulally might have said it
best when he said, But we stuck with the plan, we stayed on the plan, and we re very pleased that
today we have a foundation now. Not only have we fixed the fundamentals of the business, but we
kept investing in the product. This type of leadership and message can only encourage everyone
around him. Mulally s business cards read, One Team ∙ One Plan ∙ One Goal and that sums up a
power strategy and something from which all leaders should learn.

The Discourse On The Origin Of Inequality By Juis Rousseau
Jean Jacques Rousseau is known as one of the most influential Enlightenment and French Revolution
philosophers of the eighteenth century. In 1749, Rousseau read a copy of a newspaper, The
Mercure de France that contained an advert for an essay contest asking readers if recent advances in
the arts and sciences were making the world a better place. Rousseau s published response, A
Discourse on the Sciences and Arts, argued that civilization and progress had not improved people,
but instead, corrupted their virtue and morality. It was this discourse that brought Rousseau fame
and the foundation to write a second discourse, The Discourse on the Origin of Inequality. In his
second dissertation, Rousseau argued that humans are naturally good,... Show more content on

Therefore, as man continued to move further and further away from the animal condition and more
towards progress and civilization, man became less free. Rousseau states that the first person who,
having enclosed a plot of ground, thought of saying this is mine and found people simple enough to
believe him was the true founder of civil society (91). As a result of the creation of establishments
and institutions of property, men created laws and the creation of laws created inequality among
people. Rousseau stated that the only thing natural man cared about was survival. Additionally,
natural man did not have possessions and therefore, there was nothing that could trigger envy or
jealousy. Competition did not exist. However, civilization has corrupted humans. Today, man cares
a lot about power and reputation. Rousseau states that, . . . the savage lives within himself; sociable
man, always outside himself, knows how to live only in the opinion of others, and it is from their
judgment alone that he, so to speak, derives the feeling of his own existence (117). He continues by
stating that, . . . everything becomes fabricated and staged honor, friendship, virtue, and often even
the vices themselves, which men ultimately discover the secret of boasting about . . . (117). In other
words, man has not only moved further away from animal condition but from oneself.
Wages Pay For Women And Wages Paid
Research has identified several factors that contribute to the difference between wages paid to
women and wages paid to men, commonly called the gender wage gap. Many say that these
differences in the choices and behavior of women and men in balancing their work, personal, and
family lives. These factors include, the occupations and industries in which they work, and their
human capital development, work experience, career interruptions, and motherhood. Other factors
are sources of wageadjustments that compensate specific groups of workers for benefits or duties
that disproportionately impact them. These factors include health insurance, other fringe benefits,
and overtime at work (Webster, 2013). The gender wage gap, the observed difference between
wages paid to women and wages paid to men, has been a source of both political controversy and
economic research throughout the past several decades. The gap is commonly measured as the
ratio of the median earnings of women and the median earnings of men, which indicates the
proportion of the median male earnings that the median female earnings represent (Webster, 2013).
When the ratio is calculated for all men and women who are paid wages or salaries or for all wage
and salaryearners who work full time and year round, the measure is often called the raw gender
wage gap.
A variety of explanations for the persistent wage gap have been offered. One is that older women
are factored into the wage gap equation, and many of these
