Economic Policies Pave The Roadway For How America Operates
Main Themes
Economic policies pave the roadway for how America operates. It determines the successfulness of
the country or the downfall. When we look at today s biggest problems such as; social security,
globalization, poverty, immigration, etc. there is a common theme. That is, that the state of our
economy impacts all them.
In the book, Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed (And Other Unsolved Economic Mysteries)?
Written by Jared Bernstein, he delves into exactly how the economy can tie together so many
aspects of our daily lives. He does a great job of explaining that ordinary citizens are affected by
economics just as much as, if not more than, top leaders.
The main themes that the book focuses on is why certain institutions like our healthcare system are
failing. He also investigates why the middle class was hit the hardest by the 2007 recession. He
concluded that economics is about power, and the middle class did not hold any. Another main
theme he comes back to is that economics has been hijacked by the rich and powerful, and they do
not have regard for the everyday people .
Everything from tax cuts to rising educations costs was not done with the middle class in mind.
However, they are the ones who are hit the hardest with it. The middle class is expected to keep up
with trends such as obtaining a higher education, taking out mortgages for new houses and seeking
out childcare. But, yet due to inflation, incomes are not being raised enough to meet these
Safety Working Procedures Lab Report
Safety Working Procedures (Risk Assessment):
There were various aspects in this investigation that had to be conducted carefully to maintain a
safe environment. Prior to conduction the experiment, the students tested how far the foam would
travel up to beaker to ensure that a sufficient sized beaker could be used to prevent any spillages.
As the practical involved the use of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), students had to be cautious when
using this substance. Even though the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was only 6% concentrated, extra
care was taken to avoid contact with the skin as it may cause a slight burning sensation.
Furthermore, the beakers were labelled to prevent any cross contamination, especially between the
hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and water, as they were both colourless. For example, if hydrogen
peroxide (H2O2) was used instead of water to dilute the Catalase concentration, the ... Show more

Prior to conducting the experiment, the members of the group planned how the practical would be
conducted, what variables they were going to measure, and delegated roles evenly between the
members. For example, one member was assigned the roles of diluting the Catalase concentration,
whilst the other member was responsible for measuring out 50ml of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
Communication was also vital to ensure that the students knew exactly how the experiment would
be conducted. Furthermore, the ideas of each member in the group were valued and taken into
consideration with regards to how the investigation should be conducted. As the practical was
conducted in a tight space, the students were required to communicate effectively with others to
prevent any collision. In addition, cooperation was compulsory, as students were required to share
the materials and equipment. All these skills were vital in order for the experiment to be conducted
efficiently and coherently within the time
The American Social Security System
The American Social Security system is projected to help people with limited financial resources,
including the poor, the physically disabled, the mentally ill, and the elderly (Grabianowski 2015).
It was created in response to the pervasive poverty during the Great Depression to provide workers
with a basic level of income in retirement, as well as disability pay and life insurance while they
work (Kessler, 2014). In addition to providing benefits for workers, it also covers their dependents,
immediate family members, and even divorced spouses, at the time of serious accidents or illnesses
(Kessler, 2014). The first widespread social securityprogram I America was the Civil War Veteran
pensions in 1982 that supported injured Union veterans or to their widows. This plan expanded in
1910 to include Civil War veterans and their survivors (Social Security Administration). As America
went into economic recession following the stock market crash of 1929, the Great Depression
brought a strong focus on the need for a comprehensive system that provided assistance to the poor
and elderly, so they could live independently (Social Security Administration). In 1934, President
Roosevelt formed a Committee on Economic Security (CES), who came up with a plan that allowed
workers to put a small percentage of their pay into an aggregate account that could be drawn when
they retired, to help meet their monthly expenses, which became the Social Security Act (SSA) in

First Confession
Faith is a constant struggle here on earth due to lack of understanding, wealth of experiences, and
influences that sometimes outweigh our own. In the story First Confession by Frank O Connor a
young boy named Jackie is in a struggle of faith. O Connor uses first person to immerse the reader
in the young boy s thoughts and situation. This young boy must balance his lack of understanding,
his own experiences, and the influences of others to find hope that he can still be redeemed in his
first confession. O Connor sets the scene with a young malleable boy at the center and a swirl of
influences and inexperience to show a struggle to understand faith. Jackie is scared to go to his first
confession and he can t even imagine what it will be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jackie after being drug to confession, tormented by his own thoughts and the constant nagging of
his sister, was now at the one place where his judgment would be weighed and finalized. This was
the precipice of Jackie s story, the moment of truth, face to face with the priest who would consult
with God and hand him his penance. Instead of condemning Jackie to hell or sending him to the
bishop for further reprimand, the priest says: Someone will go her with a bread knife one day,
and he won t miss her...You must have great courage Jackie... I ve thought of doing the same (O
Connor 283). Here was a priest confessing to Jackie that at one point or another he had the same
thoughts, the same sins, and had sat exactly where Jackie had. Jackie and this priest in this moment
bonded for life, to the point where Jackie didn t even want to leave. With a gracious judgment and
only the penalty of three Hail Marys, and some candies for his journey home, the priest sent Jackie
on his way. Now this influence was unlike the rest for Jackie. Jackie had a treacherous and mean
grandmother whom he attempted to kill, a conniving sister whom he tried to slice, a condemning
teacher, and an absent father, but here is a priest that showed love and kindness. This influence
outweighed the others. This influence not only affected him and his view on faith, but lightened the
burden of the struggle, and
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Studying And Study In...
In recent years, due to the influx of foreign talents and foreign workers, more and more
Singaporeans are migrating to work and study in other countries due to the increasing stress of
living in Singapore with increased competition. Some think that the education provided overseas
are much better than what is offered in Singapore while others think that there are much more
employment opportunities outside of Singapore, where there is a bigger labour pool. However, for
myself, I would not like to study or work aboard as I feel that the education system in Singapore is
already one of the best if not the best in the region, grooming top quality individuals that is able to
help in the development of the country. Employment in the country is also... Show more content on

for them to get by. Some of the students will be overwhelmed by the immerse loneliness and return
to their homeland just months after their venture. In the news, there has been incidents reported
whereby individuals commit suicide due to the immerse desolation when they are abroad without
their families. Thus, the sense of loneliness is a con of studying aboard.

In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to studying or working aboard.
Through studying or working aboard, one can learn to be more independent and experience foreign
culture, while also having to deal with the loneliness However, if one is able cope with the
loneliness, studying and working aboard is a good way to further their studies and learn more about

Business Collaboration, Rather Than Market Competition
IS BUSINESS COLLABORATION, RATHER THAN MARKET COMPETITION, BECOME
THE KEY TO SUCCESS? INTRODUCTION Today s fast growing market requires mutually
beneficial partnerships to gain creativity, experience, processes, technology and resources with
both right and left brain thinkers, that helps in achieving extraordinary achievements in lesser time
which technically framed as collaboration. By making partnerships or collaborating externally,
companies are able to innovate and get develop much more quickly and even create solutions of
too many problems with an effective and efficient way. (Mudge, et.al 2014) Competition can be
define as it is the rivalry among sellers who are trying to achieve same goals such as increasing
profits, market share and sales volume by varying price, product, distribution and promotion
(Wikipedia, 2014). In market competition, innovative business firms are ever conscious of the
competitors and have a constant look on differentiating their brand and product by many different
innovations and developments (Ukessays.com, 2014). With a happier working team, collaboration
represents an educated one. This is because it naturally inspires a sense of community within an
organization and employees feel almost like they are a part of a family. Further, it also allows
employees to learn from each other (Elcomcms.com, 2014). The worldwide internet has been a
fantastic enabler for greater collaborations. Social media channels allow individuals to connect,

Lithium Batteries And Lithium Ion Batteries
While Lithium based batteries have allowed electronic products to become more portable, current
applications of lithium based batteries are starting to show the limitations of the current technology.
These limitations include aspects such as energy density, charge rate, and the usable lifetime of the
battery. Furthermore, over the past decade safety concerns of lithiumion batteries have become more
and more apparent in both industrial and consumer uses of lithium based batteries.

The push towards electric cars in recent years has resulted in an exponential growth in the demand
for lithium ion batteries that have a large capacity since a fully electric car is limited by the max
capacity of its battery. According to battery university, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If ignited, these gases can cause enclosed areas to overpressurize, and if unmitigated, this
overpressure can result in an explosion and severe damage to the battery and surrounding
equipment or people.(9) The risk of this happening increases as battery size increases since if one
cell fails in a way that emits a large amount of heat, it can heat up the surrounding cells to heat up
and subsequently fail. Jason Hughes conducted a teardown of the lithium ion battery in the Tesla
Model S P100D and discovered that the 100 kWh battery contained 8,256 cells, while tesla does
have safety measures in place to prevent the cells from being damaged, a single manufacturing
defect in any of the 8,256 cells could cause a cascading thermal runaway event.

An alternative solution to the limited range of electric vehicles is to offer a large number of
publicly available charging stations for electric vehicles. These charging stations boast a charging
rate of 170 miles in 30 minutes, which is much faster than the 4 hours and 56 minutes that a
standard wall connector would take to charge the car to this range as calculated on Tesla s
website(12). The problem with this solution is that while lithium based batteries can be charged
quickly through processes such as tesla s supercharging, the longevity of the battery can be greatly
damaged by doing so. Fast charging a lithium based battery is most effective then the battery is
almost depleted and the voltage per cell
