Black Death Of The 14th Century Analysis
The Black Death of the fourteenth century was an extremely deadly pandemic that killed off
around half of Europe s population. It acted quickly, killing the people who contracted it within
three days once they displayed any symptoms. It s no surprise that the people who were affected
reacted the way they did. In terms of the responses, those of the Black Deathand those of Zika,
Ebola, and HIV AIDS were actually very similar in how the fear the outbreaks produced
overwhelmed the masses into being overprotective and paranoid for their own wellbeing.

According to Giovanni Boccaccio s The Decameron, hundreds of Florentine citizens would die daily,
and those who have not met that fate yet would have to walk along the streets inhaling putrid scents

HIV AIDS was a sexually transmitted disease that preyed on the gay community in many areas of
the world. No one had an idea of what it was and how it worked; everyone simply relied on the
fact that once you had it, you were as good as dead. On top of sex being somewhat of a taboo
topic in American society, there was also a significant amount of discrimination towards the gay
communities, and once it was known that it was common because of members having several
partners, HIV became more of a stereotype. Gay members were shunned and isolated even more
than they already were, with people not wanting to even be near them. Fear was not the only factor
that affected society and fostered hostility towards others; the pre existent stigma against gay people

Autism Cause And Effect Essay
Autism: Cause and Effects
Autism is a disorder characterized by severe difficulties in social interaction and communication and
with unusual behaviors. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). This disorder is assumed to be caused by genetics,
environmental toxins and/or prenatal care. (Harvard Medical School 2013). Social behaviors
/interactions affected by Autism is the ability to process learning, communication and family/peer
relationships. Autism is a disorder in which its cause makes it impossible to prevent and it takes a
toll on its victim s everyday life tasks.

Independent of the genome screens, evidence suggests that the region on chromosome 15q11 13
contains a gene or genes relevant to Autism. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Basically, there are suggestions
that the chromosome 15q11 13 is somehow mutated, deleted, or duplicated, causing this disorder to
transpire. In addition to genetics, environmental factors can influence Autism; though they are not
greatly supported ideas, they can t be entirely ruled out. In the UK there have been reports of the
measles vaccine having a part in causing this disorder. (Dr. David Pauls 2003). Newer studies have
even shown that prenatal care before a woman even conceives reduces the risk extensively. Woman
who did not take a daily multivitamin in the three months before conception and during the first
month of pregnancy were almost twice as likely to give birth to a child with ASD as a woman who
had taken a daily multivitamin. (The Harvard Mental Health Letter 2011). Multivitamins contain a
lot of helpful vitamins to maintain a healthy pregnancy, but researchers suggest that the folic acid is
the most significant influence that reduces the risk of a child born with ASD. (The Harvard Mental

Essay about Evolution of Goaltending in the NHL
Today, the term hockey describes differing games in various parts of the world, but specifically in
North America it refers to as ice hockey. In its origin, hockey is one of the oldest games played. The
earliest mention of the sport of hockey dates back to 1572, when it was on a list of prohibited
games. Hockey s birthplace is believed to be in Asia and authorities credit Persiawith having devised
it about 2000 BC. People who perfected the game of polomust have known quot;hockey on the
ground quot; before quot;hockey on horseback quot;. Certainly though ice hockey originated in
Canada. Two theories have surfaced as to who really came up with ice hockey.
The first credits English soldiers serving with the Royal Canadian Rifles at ... Show more content on

Four teams took part in the first season: the
Montreal Canadians, the Wanderers, the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Arenas. Then two
more teams were added making the NHL a six team league; the Blackhawks and the Detroit Red
Wings. In the 60 s the NHL decided to expand the organization which was limited to six teams and
added another six teams making 12 in all and opening doors for more players to became part of the
great league. As the NHL grew into a prosperous league, the game changed from year to year
because of expansion and rule changes so players had to adapt, especially the goalies!

The game of ice hockey is played with 12 players on a 200 feet by 80 feet battlefield of ice. Each
team has five players and a goalie; there are three forwards and two defensemen who form the
setup of players of that play the game of hockey. And then there are goaltenders, the most
important position on the ice. Suited up in their equipment, they are the most essential part of an
ice hockey team. But the position of goaltending has really evolved from when hockey was
originated or even since the formation of the NHL. Many different parts of the position have
evolved over the years; the equipment used, the physical and mental abilities of the goaltenders,
the style of play, and the rule changes of the NHL which have forced goalies to change the way they
play their game. In the early years, goalies were not very well protected. Having to stop frozen discs

What Does Metal Music Mean To Me Essay
found me. His sound was more of classic rock, with hints of a heavier style, but not metal. In his
lyrics I found comfort and insight, and I became transfixed by his performance of such beautiful
songs. Eric s music transcended a powerful sense of authenticity through his poetry and haunting
melodies. Because of the passion of his music, he helped me to heal my hidden emotional wounds.
Music can bring peace and healing.
Eric is a person who is intensely beautiful and adored on the outside, but is so much more than a
pretty face. As a former international model, Eric knew about being celebrated for his looks, his
surface. He found that working in a field concentrated on the superficial was an unfulfilling
purpose in his life. He wanted something more indepth and sincere, and he chose a different path.
Eric would say music is his life. I d tweak that phrase and say, Christ is my life, but music is my
language. Music is a more complete language than any other ... Show more content on

That alone is sad, but the worst thing is that he has no hope, which is unlike mankind. No matter
how desperate and dark anyone s life has become, we can hope. Satan s song can never convey God s
grace because it s missing all blessing from God. Rather, it personifies Satan s suffering in an
attempt to gain empathy from mankind. It conveys Satan s message; he has pain and he
understands your pain, we are in this together. His clever and twisted message seeps into the heart
and soul of the listener and fools those who are willing to embrace the ideal into thinking his
songs are pleasing and good. He is darkness, but tries to seem as light. Deception is Satan s
favorite tool, and music is an easy format because it powerfully, sometimes almost hypnotically,
surpasses all other means to contrive an individual s psyche. Music is an omnilingual platform, an
unequaled language of its own. It can send a powerful message, good or
Concert Review Of Planet Of The Apes
After a brief intermission, the orchestra played Planet of the Apes. This started off with an
immediate ominous timbre set by the double bass playing an ostinato consisting of eighth notes with
quarter note rests. The timpani then played a rhythm consisting of quarter notes and eighth notes. A
few bars later, the horns play a melodic line consisting of whole notes in small intervals. This idea is
built upon for some time until the rhythm of the underlying ostinato is changed to consist of notes
with a much faster duration, and other brass instruments join in to play a separate melody overtop.
Upper woodwinds add ornamentation with trills in a descending scale pattern while the brass play
an augmented version of the previous melody. This idea continues to develop until a change in the...

This started with a theremin playing notes of a long duration and large intervals. Underneath this,
double bass and cello played crescendoing eighth note sixteenth note ostinatos that pushed the phrase
forward. As more instruments joined in, the dynamic gradually increased, and tension was being
created. Later, the theremin melody made an entry once more. The choir then started singing ahs
overtop starting with short duration notes that served as accents, then shifting to a more connected
melody, then shifting once more to shorter duration notes with major seventh intervals. The intensity
of the piece builds up later through the addition of more instruments. Each instrument plays a
counter melody which fits well with other sections. The strict rhythm in each melody allows it to
also sound like a machine, similar to what was happening in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The
instrumentation for this piece was also perfect, as the theremin has a very unique sound that fits with
the science fiction genre, and therefor the movie. Despite the length of the piece being short
compared to the rest of the program, it was still very

CSI CYBER FEATURE ARTICLE

CSI Cyber, just one of the many CSI () that have been created in the past fifteen years with Cyber
being the most recent, the main plot of this TV show is just about the same as all the others:
investigate and solve the crime. But this one is a bit different with technology having a more
important role through out the series. In reality with cyber crimes, technology would still have the
same roles but less glamorous as in the show.

This series is mostly accurate aside from the occasional mistake with the use of terminology and
some processes which are performed when solving a crime. Other mistakes that appear in the show
are the coding structure that would be shown on some computer screens through out various
episodes. To anyone not familiar with proper coding these would just look like any other piece of
code, but to someone who has knowledge about this practice would plainly see that this is
incorrect. Also mentioning the ability of some detectives in the Hack For Good program that was
created by Avery Ryan, the ability to repeat a child s nursery rhyme and take an educated guess to

Character Analysis Of Gene Forrester In A Separate Peace...
Gene Forrester is a character developed through his actions, dialogues, and thoughts that contribute to
his personality traits. Gene s thoughts and actions distinguish his personality from that of other
characters. Gene hides his true nature in the environment of the novel but exposes himself to the
reader through his thinking and reflection. Gene is revealed to be insecure and jealous through his
narration of the story. Firstly, Gene s insecurity and jealousy are unveiled through his actions,
thinking, and dialogue. By deciphering his reasoning behind his actions, the reader discovers Gene
s insecurity thriving beneath the surface. This is seen when Gene s close friend Phineas jokingly
admits that Gene becoming valedictorian would make him jealous and Gene reacts by thinking,

He describes this realization as clear and bleak which indicates he feels it is obvious that Finny
intends to sabotage Gene s academics. However, this is evidently uncharacteristic of Finny, and
implies Gene is misreading and unconsciously manipulating the situation to justify the fact he
does not have an A in one of his classes; he blames Finny for this. Gene s conjecture is a result of
his attempt to defend himself. Insecurity breeds defensiveness as his poor self confidence allowed
him to feel threatened by Finny s joking remarks and took his words sincerely. Due to Gene s
defensive response, it displays his weak self confidence, proving his insecurity. Another personality
trait Gene possesses is jealousy. His jealousy is exemplified in Gene s reaction when Finny is
about to get in trouble, and he responds, This time he wasn t going to get away with it. I could feel
