Warren Buffett s Assassination
Warren Edward Buffett on August 30, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska. Buffett s father, Howard,
worked as stockbroker and served as a U.S. congressman. His mother, Leila Stahl Buffett, was a
homemaker. Buffett was the second of three children and the only boy. Buffett demonstrated a
knack for financial and business matters early in his childhood. Warren often visited his father s
stock brokerage shop as a child, and chalked in the stock prices on the blackboard in the office. At
11 years old he made his first investment, buying three shares of Cities Service Preferred at $38 per
share. The stock quickly dropped to only $27, but Buffett held on tenaciously until they reached
$40. He sold his shares at a small profit, but regretted the decision when Cities Service shot up to
nearly $200 a share. By the age of 13, Buffett was running his own businesses as a paperboy and
selling his own horse racing tip sheet. That same year, he filed his first tax return, claiming his bike
as a $35 tax... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This donation became the largest act of charitable giving in United States history. In 2010, Buffett
and Gates announced they had formed The Giving Pledge campaign to recruit more wealthy
individuals for philanthropic causes. In 2012, Buffett disclosed that he had been diagnosed with
prostate cancer. He began undergoing radiation treatment in July, and successfully completed his
treatment in November. The health scare did little to slow the octogenarian, who annually ranks
near the top of the Forbes world billionaires list. In February 2013, Buffett purchased H. J. Heinz
with private equity group 3G Capital for $28 billion. Later additions to the Berkshire Hathaway
stable included battery maker Duracell and Kraft Foods Group, which merged with Heinz in 2015
to form the third largest food and beverage company in North
Industrial Revolution
Industrialization of the 19th Century in America
Matt Capone

Professor Moore
May 3, 2014

Over the course of time, the country of America has changed in many ways. Towards the end of the
19th century, a significant change took place in the fundamental structure of the economy. That
change was industrialization. During this time period, the United States of America changed from a
large, agricultural country, to an urban industrial society. The process of industrialization began to
take place in America, and eventually took over the economy during this period. Entrepreneurs and
inventors put together various machines and businesses to help better the country function on a day
to day basis. The advantages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another negative impact that industrialization led to was the impact it had on the social and
political issues that resulted. A bunch of factories were built in a short period of time, and done so
without any knowledge of the type of air pollution that would result from the factories. It has been
proven that the steel, sulfur and other various factories produce some sort of smog into the air and
can cause harm to the environment. In terms of politics, the immigrants coming over from other
counties were taking the jobs that should have been to the Americans that already lived in the
country. More and more people moved to America and jobs started to become scarce. In my opinion,
I would have to say that the good benefits outweighed the bad in terms of industrialization. The
country definitely benefited more from the industrial revolution than it regressed. Society improved
and there were so many more opportunities available to the people of America. There are a ton of
similarities that the industrial revolution of the late 19th century and the 21st century globalization
that we are personally experiencing now. Today, technology is all around us and it helps us to
simplify everyday tasks. The country of America went through a big technological change in the
19th century as well, which played a big part in the industrialization of the country. The globalization
that is taking place right now is also significantly impacted by the

Executive Summary

Platinum Box Ltd. is at a strategic juncture; it has enjoyed a phase of consistent growth over the last
few years, and built on this growth is planning to expand operations to take advantage of new
markets in the USA. Critically, the equipment (printing presses) that have enabled Platinum s growth
and success are approaching the end of their life cycles, as evident in doubling of their maintenance
costs over the last two years. If this equipment is not replaced in the near future, Platinum cannot
expect to expand production or to effectively push ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three potential sources (JabaKing, Merakuri and Pnutype) available to Platinum for the
equipment that will replace the aging presses currently in use. Several key factors need to be
considered when making this decision not least of which is the overall cost of acquiring the new
equipment. To this end, a Total Cost Analysis (Exhibit A) evaluation of the suppliers has been
employed to fully assess the available alternatives, and to make the subsequent recommendations
on supplier to choice. Direction given by Jim Hicza, has made in clear that cost considerations will
be a primary concern. Consideration of the ability of the equipment to meet the anticipated future
capacity demands, and how this equipment will facilitate the growth goals of Platinum, is vital.
Analysis of the projected required capacity (Exhibit C) reveals some interesting and strategically
important insight; if Platinum continues to grow at the expected rate, today s purchase of new
presses will not be able to meet the projected demand in 5 years (2010), unless additional presses
are purchased, or factory hours are expended perhaps with the addition of a third shift.

This fact introduces the option to retain some of the currently functioning JabaKing machines, while
adding additional presses piecemeal over the next 5 years in order to meet demand. This approach
will alleviate the need for a large capital investment upfront,
The On The Supreme Highness
Your Supreme Highness, First of all, let me, a plebeian, wholeheartedly congratulate your
Highness on conquering the Six Warring States and unite the entire world. Your achievements
can be claimed as surpassing all rulers before and since. No one, even the legendary Three
Sovereigns and Five Emperors , can have comparable achievements of your Highness. It must be
a Mandate of Heaven, letting your Highness bring the entire world away for the chaotic constant
warfares and to a prosperous and peaceful New World forever. My name is HAN Fei. I am here to
humbly self promote my governing policy with explanations to your Highness, for uniting your
new empire and ruling the world. Please forgive me for me offend or if I have violated any taboos.
Like the previous Dynasty, Zhou, our Great QinEmpire grew up in the West in all aspects, like
economic, cultural, military, etc. However, the once strong Zhou still declined and failed to
maintain its mortality. We, the Great Qin, should learn from the past and avoid recurrence of the
past. It was crystal clear that the Zhou had fallen due to its Hereditary Feudal System . It was at
first a success on placating Zhou s meritorious followers, to make them as kings. However, as
generations went on, the relationships between the central ruler and decedents of the kings became
looser and looser. What often happened was that they fought against each other for more profits and
resources. This led to a point where they were
30 Year Mortgage
Making the choice to apply for a mortgage is a huge decision. However, there is no scarcity of
decisions to be made when applying for one. You must decide which lender you are going to pick
and determine whether a fixed or an adjustable rate will suit you best. And then you are compelled
to make the biggest decision of all. Paying a 30 year mortgage loanis quintessential, however, this
standard mortgagelength is not written in stone. You can choose to pay off your mortgage sooner
with a 15 year loan.
Choosing a 15 year mortgage loan over a 30 year mortgage loan has several benefits. One benefit of
choosing a 15 year term is being able to pay off your home loan quickly. This option is perfect for
those who do not want to pay a mortgage for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By paying an extra $100 each month, you can reduce the amount of interest you pay by $22,816.95
leaving the lifetime of the loan at $114,799.44 in interest.
That being said, if you wanted to make extra payments on the 30 year mortgage loan and pay it
off like a 15 year loan, you would have to do it diligently because the interest rates are higher and
you could mess it up if you don t pay the difference religiously. However, if money gets tight, then
you don t have to make that extra payment if you cannot afford it. Compared to the 15 year loan,
you must always pay a higher monthly payment whether you want to or not, but your interest rates
are lower.
In conclusion, making the decision between a 15 year mortgage and a 30 year mortgage is a
major decision that will have long lasting effect on your financial situation. Going over your
finances before choosing a term is crucial. If you are wanting to pay off your mortgage before
retiring, it would be wise to go over your finances to see if your income can support higher
payments. If you are a first time home buyer, looking at every aspect such as how much of
disposable income and personal savings you have should be taken into consideration. Having a 15
year mortgage can take a significant chunk of your income and if you do not have the means to
support that, it is likely in your best interest to skip the faster route and stick with the 30 year
The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
In 1922 the rise of Benito Mussolini dictated another path for the nation of Italy. The Cat in the
Rain, Indian Camp and especially The Short Happy Life Francis Macomber represent this shift in
the political climate of Italy. In his short stories Hemingway portrays knowledge as the dispersion
of absolute power. The holders of power withhold knowledge to assert their power, attempt to
nullify knowledge once it has been gained, and Force their way long after the strategy was applicable.

In many of Hemingway s short stories the oppressors attempts to prevent the oppressed from gaining
knowledge in order to further their own goals. In the short story The Short Happy Life of Francis

This attempt at nullifying Nick new knowledge actually succeeds when Nick thinks, [H]e felt
quite sure he would never die (4). This success represents how easily information can be forcibly
misinterpreted to provide a desired outcome. This attempt at nullifying newfound knowledge is
attempted in the short story the Cat in the Rain when George tells his wife, Oh, shut up and get
something to read (131). This attempt by george to prolong his control by attempting to nullify her
newfound knowledge that she can get what she want s from a different person. However in this
instance his attempt fails when the maid comes in and says, Excuse me, the padrone asked me to
bring this for Signora (131). This definitely reveals to the Wife that she doesn t need to be helping
George to get what she wants thus breaking his grip on power.

3The final way a character attempts to retain is by forcing their will, this attempt almost always
backfires. In the Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber he ends up getting shot by Margot: Mrs.
Macomber, in the car, had shot the buffalo with the 6.5 Mannlicher as it seemed to gore Macomber
and had hit her husband about two inches up a a little to one side of the base of his skull (28). Both
Margot and Wilson know that Francis would have

What Makes Us Who We Are Throughout life we experience things that make us who we are. Our
life experiences shape us in many ways whether it is good or whether it is bad. In the novel The
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the main character Holden Caulfield demonstrates how all the
traumatic events in one s life can affect one s behavior. Throughout the novel Holden describes
his view on the world and demonstrates how he holds mistrust in people. The mistrust he has
toward people have affected him to view every person in the world as a phony. Psychoanalysis
theory that began with Sigmund Freud, explains Holden s behavior as odd. To many of us it is
very understandable why he is the way he is due to all the things he faced throughout his life. In
Psychoanalytic Analysis by Donald Hall it explains Freud s theory on how life experiences affect
behavior, ... between children and parents and the lasting effects of childhood ... Show more content

Freud s theory shows how Holden s relationship with his parents impacted his personality due to
how Holden never had a good relationship with his parents which caused him to mistrust them
and other people. In the novel The Catcher in the Rye Holden mentions throughout the book
various of times why he views adults and anything they do as phony, Grand. There s a word I really
hate. It s a phony. I could puke every time I hear it (14). Adult s play a big role in why Holden
viewed the world as such a bad place because he loathed that they were always trying to impress
someone. Freud s psychoanalytic theory played a big role in the development of Holden as a
character due to
The Influence Of Media And Pop Culture On Young Girls
In today s society media and pop culture are heavy influences on girls of all ages. Everywhere we
look there is something claiming to make us happier, look better, and telling us how we can improve
our lifestyles. Young girls to young adults are drawn to these advertisements. Studies say that girls
from the age of thirteen to nineteen are most vulnerable to the persuasion of the advertisements put
out by companies claiming to help them live a better and more defined life. Magazines such as
Seventeenmagazinetarget young girls using celebrities, visual techniques, and many other techniques
to draw their attention. To be in Style
One technique used by Seventeen is the use of bright colors to drawn in attention. They use bold,
busy colors and fonts contrasted on clean, crisp backgrounds to catch the young eyes of girls who
connect these contrasts with an upbeat style. They use bold, feminine, sophisticated type fonts to
grab the eyes of women. Their headlines stick out, making themselves the center of attention.
Most of these headlines are fashion centered. They use fashion to appeal to girls find the best
clothes makeup and hairstyles. They make it feel personal by claiming to know what will work
for you and your body type, face shape, and skin tone. They sell their secrets on how to look great
every day. They dress they re models in clothes that reflect the theme of the magazine. This appeals
to the women s desire to be in style.
Idolization
Another technique they use and one of the most commonly used by Seventeen is the use of
celebrities. Teens often look at celebrities as superhumans. They find celebrities to look up to.
They idolize them, want to be like them. Magazines use this to their advantage. They plaster the
faces of some of the most influential stars to their front pages claiming to help teens become just
like their idol. They make sure to cover all social platforms from actresses to singer, models, and
socialites. Seventeen has used people such as Sarah Hyland, Maddie Ziegler, Zendaya and Carrie
Underwood. They use these people as marketing tools. These people are seen in the public eye as
credible sources especially by the girls who look up to them. They try to appeal to the fact
Keeping Food Local Essay examples
Annually, the New American Oxford Dictionary releases a word of the year, which has had a
significant presence in culture and society. The 2007 award went to the word locavore which is
defined as one who eats foods grown locally whenever possible (locavore). The local food
movement has impressively grown from its grass roots beginnings, and infiltrated mainstream
thought as a revolution in the way society views food. Eating locally is something that is available
to all citizens and yet, is still opposed by some. Because of the environmental, economic and health
benefits, citizens need to become actively involved in their local community s food movement. The
local foodmovement is a fairly recent progression that started in a few small... Show more content on

A researcher from Iowa illustrated this concept in 2005 when he learned that all of the
ingredients of his daily morning yogurt combined traveled 2211 miles just to get to the
processing plant (DeWeerdt). This doesn t include the miles travelled from the plant, to the store
and finally to the researcher s home. This also doesn t include the processing plants wastes and
energy loses. Not only does local food waste less time traveling, it also usually means smaller
farms which is better for the soil and the food grown. Large scale corporate farms often practice a
technique known as monoculture, which can deplete the soil and require the use of artificial
fertilizers made from fuels like natural gas (Gale). Small farms are able to avoid this practice and
which benefits the environment and also keeps food safe from chemicals. Purchasing food grown
locally, benefits the environment. Purchasing food locally grown is also beneficial to a healthy
diet. Locally grown food is fresher and richer in nutrients because they are able to be sold when
ripe. Food has fewer chemicals. People tend to eat healthier when purchasing local food as well.
Changes the way people think about food and what goes into unhealthy food, such as fast food. The
best reason to purchase food locally is the economic impact. Purchasing food from local farmers,
keeps money in local communities. It draws communities closer together.
Brief History of Ethiopia
Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of
those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most;
that has made it possible for evil to triumph. Haile Selassie The name Ethiopia derives from the
Greek word ethio, meaning burned and pia, meaning face : the land of burned faced peoples or in
some points also means something divided . Ethiopia also known as (Abyssinia) is the tenth largest
country in Africa, covering 439,580 square miles almost twice the size of Texas. Addis Ababa is the
third highest capital city in the world. The country boasts a massive population as one of the densest
landlocked countries in the world with roughly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen particularly true in urban areas where women are beginning to take a major role
in all areas of employment and men are beginning to take a greater role in domestic life. The
Ethiopian traditional costume is made of woven cotton. Ethiopian men and women wear this
traditional costume called gabbi or Netella. Women often wear dresses (Kemis) and netella with
borders of colored embroidered woven crosses, but other designs are also used. Other ethnic
groups and tribes in the south and west of the country wear different costumes that reflect their
own traditions. Some tribes partially cover their body with leather but others do not wear any
clothes at all, merely decorating their faces and bodies with distinctive images. As far as nation
cuisine goes one of the more known Ethiopian national dishes is called wat. It is a hot spicy stew
accompanied by injera (traditional large spongy pancake made of teff flour and water). Teff is
unique to the country and is grown on the Ethiopian highlands. There are many varieties of wat,
e.g. chicken, beef, lamb, vegetables, lentils, and ground split peas stewed with hot spice called
Berbere. It s made of dried red hot pepper, herbs, spices, dried onions, dried garlic and salt
ingredients. Wat is served by placing it on top of the injera, which is served in a mesob (large basket
tray). The food is eaten with fingers by tearing off a piece of injera and
