As a leading science based regulator, what role can CFIA play to encourage the pursuit of science
among young women, thereby supporting our recruitment efforts? How can we make CFIA an
employer of choice for women seeking work in a science based environment? I am excited to be
the new Champion for the Women s Circle and am looking forward to working to address these
questions and other issues faced by women within the Agency. Colleen
Immigration Laws And Policies Are Unfair
Immigration has been an existing occurrence ever since the first of humans and persisted as land
continued being discovered. There has always been major controversy over this subject, both public
and political, especially in the country of America. Immigration laws and policies are unfair because
many of these people are not what citizens depict them as. When people think of immigrants their
thoughts automatically connect to Mexicans, field workers, and crossing the U.S./Mexico border.
What many Americans forget is that the United States was founded off of immigration, everything
from America s discovery by Europeans, to African slavery, and has followed up to current day
cultural diversity. Illegal immigration should not be a real concept because most of the accusations
that are connected to immigrants are not true and are based solely on stereotypes and there are
further issues associated with this process of deportationthan the ones that initially appear.
Regardless of the common claims that are directed at immigrants, there are many statistics that
support the more positive aspect of these aliens. One of the many things that cause many people to
oppose immigration are that many immigrants have low living standards or are simply living off of
government welfare programs. The Center for American Progress actually stated that Less than one
in five immigrants live in poverty, and they are no more likely to use social services than the native
born Americans (CAP,
Jean Luc Godard s Weekend as Didactic Self-Reflexive Cinema
James Goodman 5 March 2005 Auguiste Communication Essay Jean Luc Godard s Weekend as
Didactic Self Reflexive Cinema According to Stephen Prince in Movies and Meaning: an
Introduction to Film, Screen Reality is a concept that pertains to the principles of time, space,
character behavior and audiovisual design that filmmakers systematically organize in a given film
to create an ordered world on screen in which characters may act and in which a narrative may
unfold.(262) One mode of cinematic screen reality is self reflexivity. While the other three modes of
screen reality seek to sway the audience into accepting the authenticity of the world and the story
that are on screen, the self reflexive style deliberately attempts to tear down... Show more content on

Weekend represents the culture of political violence and social experimentation, artistic and
sexual, which was the latter half of the 1960s. This somewhat comic but depressing film of
Godard s is a satirical poem and construct of the contempt with which he obviously holds
bourgeoisie society. Much of the film expresses this through the use of symbolism and
metaphor. In order to better facilitate the process whereby the audience becomes aware of
Godard s intentions and his message he introduces us to a young Parisian married couple. Godard
sets the clichéd couple, alienated and bourgeois, on a journey for Corinne s parents country
house, hoping to find them either dead or willing to sign the will. As they persist in their journey
we are given various opportunities to appreciate the absolute complacency and ignorance of the
couple (meant to be emblematic of all bourgeois). Godard tries to peel off the hypocrisy of
bourgeois society through the weekend trip of this Parisian middle class couple. Weekend is a clear
continuation of the style, and even ideology, which originated with Brecht s work in the theater.
Jean Luc Godard weaves didactic self reflexive techniques throughout the film, in order to break the
illusion that the spectator is watching a real, authentic world on screen rather than a movie. In doing
so, Godard finds the ability to share his discourse directly with the audience instead of employing
characters to do the job for
Sodium Hydroxide Lab Report
Procedure [C, 8] Part A: Iron (III) Nitrate and Sodium Hydroxide 1.Sliding the mini test tube into
the empty Erlenmeyer flask and sealing it with the rubber stopper were practiced a few times
before conducting the experiment. 2.5 ml of Sodium Hydroxide solution was measured using the
graduated cylinder. After, it was poured into the empty Erlenmeyer Flask. 3.3 ml of Iron(III)
Nitrate was poured into the mini test tube. Next, the Erlenmeyer Flask was tilted and the mini test
tube was carefully inserted into it, without mixing the contents. Lastly, it was sealed with a rubber
stopper. 4.The appearance (physical properties) of each reactant in the flask (before mixing) were
observed and recorded in Table 1. 5.It was made sure that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4.10 ml of vinegar was added to the graduated cylinder, while it was kept on the balance. The total
mass was recorded. 5.Then, the total mass of the reactants (only the mass of vinegar and baking
soda) was calculated. The work was shown in the calculation section and the final answer was

were recorded in Table 1. 7.Lastly, all of the Vinegar was poured into the beaker containing Sodium
Bicarbonate. Both chemicals were swirled gently to ensure that they were mixed well. After having
to wait at least 1 minute, the reaction was complete. 8.The appearance of the mixture was recorded,
when the visible reaction had stopped. The total mass of the beaker and its contents was measured
and recorded. 9.The total mass of the products (only the chemicals that were inside the beaker after
the reaction) was
The Last Samurai By Captain Nathan Algren
I have chosen to talk about the movie The Last Samurai. This is a movie that takes places in Japan,
with Captain Nathan Algren as one of the main characters. He was hired to lead an attack against a
rebellion of Samurais, who were opposing to the use of firearms. In the first battle, the Captain s
force and himself were badly wounded. The leader of the rebellion, whose name was Katsumoto
spares Captain Algren life and takes him into his town for recovery. Once healthy Captain Algren
learns the history, traditions and techniques of the Samurai.
By the time passing, he develops romantic feeling for Taka. Then he joins Katsumoto by telling
him that he would fight to protect Taka, her children, and Katsumoto. When they go to the final
battle, they lose heavily but never give up. Luckily Captain Algren still lived and when the
Emperor was going to decide to give the U.S right to sell firearms to Japan, he walks in and offers
Katsumoto sword to the Emperor. Then the Emperor realizes that its history is rich and important,
so he declines to give the U.S rights at that time. After that Captain Algren backs off and heads back
to the village where Taka and her children were waiting for them.
The first course concept I m going to talk about is cultural differences. Their backgrounds are not
very alike, each of them has a different past and views about things. In the movie, it shows how they
dress differently. He learns how they have a different way of dressing and customs. They eat
Comparing Skepticism And Dreaming Argument
Skepticism is one of the most important debates in philosophy, skepticism could be describe as the
doubt or refusing attitude towards reality and knowledge. This idea of doubting knowledge has been
around since the 1st century BC with the foundation of the Greek skeptic school known as
Pyrrhonism. Since that time, the idea of skepticismhas remained the same and many people from
our time still questioning themselves about reality; How can I be certain about reality, if I cannot
even trust my own senses? . One of the many examples of this belief is Rene Descartes and his
famous Dreaming Argument ; where he states that everything that we know is only part of a
dream, a dream where nobody wants to wake up because we feel comfortable on it and we are
afraid that reality could be cruel. However, due to the fact that skepticism is a very controversial
idea, another group of people emerged to denied skepticism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Just as there are several philosophers that belief in skepticism, there also exist a counterpart, a
group of philosophers that think that skepticism is an absurd concept. One of the anti skeptic
members is the famous English philosopher G.E. Moore. One of Moore s most famous works is A
Defense of Common Sense in which he tries to deny skepticism by saying that there are several
things that we are absolutely convince on, things like common sense. Moore begins his Defense of
Common Sense by simply enunciating a list of truism to prove that he has at least some knowledge,
and that there are at least some beliefs about the world that we certainly know about. On this first
section Moore starts saying:
Goal: My goal is to actually persuade the crowd and to fidget less while performing my monologue.
