Ww2 American Women
The lives of American women were significantly changed both in good ways and bad, during and
after the era of World War II. Although World War II was, and still is today, considered an
unforgettable tragedy, there were many benefits to the war because of the advantages it gave to
women at the time. The war gave women the benefits of new occupational opportunities, fashion
changes, and changes of views towards women. However, amidst all these benefits, their lives
were affected in some bad ways as well, such as the cause of family life hardships, constant labor,
and loss of occupations after the war. One factor of women s lives that changed as a result of World
War II was fashion. It all began with the invention of nylon in 1939. Once this... Show more content

Once World War II began, America was in desperate need of workers, so this gave women a food
chance to find high paying jobs. For example, about 350,000 women were able to serve in the
U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. There was an increase of job offers for women ranging
from service pilots, military doctors, politicians, factory workers, and participation in the Armed
Forces (Yellin 112, 299). Between 1940 and 1945, the female percentage of the U.S. workforce
increased from 27 percent to nearly 37 percent, and by 1945 nearly one out of every four married
women worked outside the home ( History 1). If there is one person to thank for the new job
opportunities, it is none other than the famous Rosie the Riveter. This well known fictional woman
served not only to promote the changes of fashion during the war, but was also used as a tool for
recruiting women to work, especially in the Armed Forces, and it was a success. In movies,
newspapers, posters, photographs, articles, and even a Norman Rockwell pained Saturday
Evening Post cover, the Rosie the Riveter campaign stressed the patriotic need for women to enter
the work force and they did, in huge numbers ( History 1). Women began to get involved in
organizations women in the earlier years were never imagined to work as such as the Women s
Army Corps (WAC) and Women s Air force Service Pilots (WASP). More than 310,000 women
worked in the U.S. aircraft industry in 1943, representing 65 percent of the industry s total
workforce (compared to just 1 percent in the pre war years) ( History 1). World War II offered
women a chance to be more involved in the military and any high paying occupation that was
considered too manly before then, because of the wider range of job offers ( History
My Career Choice Ever Since I
Education has been my career choice ever since I began high school. Through the many years of
experience education has allowed me to grow in knowledge, understanding, and professionalism.
As I have earned a master s degree and now on a journey to attain a doctorate degree, education is
once again allowing me to develop and stretch myself even more. My family has always been
supportive of my endeavors; of course while I was growing and developing into a young adult my
parents had more of a voice in my decisions and would help point me in the right direction. As I
matured my wife and children filled the role of being the supportive team that I relied on to keep
me grounded. Disruptions of time spent together, activities attended by only one parent and at
times dealing with a parent that was quick to anger because of a lack of sleep or dealing with
stress of another homework assignment due date. There are times I am not engaged with my
family and do not cope well with life s challenges and I don t approach the day very well (Boers,
2012). Along with supporting my educational desires, they have also supported my attempts to
increase my salary by moving from the elementary school level to the high schoollevel. My family
had to learn to deal with a parent being away from home more in the evening because of the
transition from one job to the other. In my present position as an assistant principal I am not
comfortable sharing my deepest feelings with teachers.
Examples Of Perseverance
When times get tough many people s first instinct is to give up. Even though it seems easier it s not
always the best option. Perseverance should be something that you think of when times get rough.
The three texts that show perseverance are Mother Son, Trapeze Comic, and Saudi Arabia s
Freedom Riders. Motherto Son is a poem written by a mother to her son telling him to never give
up in life and always keep pushing because it will all be worth it in the long run. The article states
that Life for her ain t been no crystal stair. this act demonstrates perseverance because it is her
saying that life for her hasn t been easy but she pushed through it. Another example of
perseverance is because his mother had a hard life but she worked hard to be where she is now. The
women also said to her son Don t you set down on them steps cause you ll find it s kinder hard.
This also shows perseverance because she s telling him that if he stops and gives up it won t... Show

Women in Saudi Arabia are standing up for their right to drive a car. In the article, a women says
On the contrary, these arrests will encourage more women to get behind the wheel in direct
defiance of this ridiculous abuse of our most basic rights. this act shows perseverance because it
doesn t matter what the people of Saudi Arabia do, whether they arrest them or not they won t stop
fighting for their basic rights to drive. Another example of perseverance from this text is If you can
reach the public, it will put pressure on the royal family to modernize. This act shows perseverance
because many of the women tried to reach out to the public to get them to hear the women out and
to spread the movement around. The final example of perseverance is when Hillary Clinton says,
these women are brave, and what they are seeking is right. She is saying that the women shouldn t
give up and she supports their
Democratic And Republican Views On Education Essay
In my diagnostic essay I wrote about the issues towards education and education reforms. I strongly
believe that there needs to be a change in the educational system because it is corrupt. The fact that
people are required to pay thousands of dollars or take out loans that put them in debt for years is
absurd. Many students are forced to take out loans that put them in debtfor years. It also concerns me
that low income youths do not have that much of an option, and cannot afford an education. Online, I
found an article on Republicanviews.org stating democratic and republican views on education and
education reforms. The information in this article states the problems that I ponder the next
president and Congress should focus on. This includes reforming financial aid programs for college
tuition, creating more teaching jobs and expanding education options for low income youth. This is
one of the biggest challenges that the United States are facing today. After reading the article, I
found that I was able to relate to the democratic views on education. The democrats are trying to
make the public school system more successful and maintainable. They are also trying to expand
public school options for low income children and maintaining more magnet schools, charter
schools, teacher led schools, and career academics. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Republicans are trying to fix the education in the United States by supporting vouchers for private
schools. On the other hand, the Democratic party sees that as a waste of time. Republicans also
believe that the resources provided could create a successful educational system if the proper
systems of accountability are put in place. And democrats believe that there should be an increase in
resources that are being
Examples Of Personal Reflection
With my sound projected I hope to convey the idea that an individual will face a multitude of
different challenges throughout their lives, but one must use those challenges and failure as a
means of motivation in order to reach your goals. There will be individual who will bring you
down in your life and you may not have the support you need at time but you just have to keep
progressing and focusing on yourself. In order to properly project this I used various affordances of
soundthat help meeffectively tell the story for the listener. I also included voices to help tell the
story and set the tone for the listener as we progress through the different phases of the individual
s life. I tried to set a serious tone by showing the change in voice of the individuals speaking to the
person we follow throughout the project. For instance, when we first begin to tell the story the
character (when he was a student in high school) get yelled at by his teacher for doing the
assignment completely wrong. You can hear the anger in the teacher voice and it evokes the
emotion of you doing something wrong. In the end you finally get to hear the voice of the actual
character who has now become a very successful individual even through all the hard time he faced
getting to that point. One of the most effective affordances of sound that I made sure to include short
clips of motivational song in order to help the listener understand that even when you fail you have
to use that as motivation
Finance Reflection
Over the entirety of this course I have learned many new things about finance and being
financially stable through the rest of my life. One of the first things I learned was the importance
of having an emergency fund in place. It made me realize that with an emergency fund it takes so
much stress and pressure off being able to pay for unexpected expenditures that are just simply a
part of life. Baby step one is something I have begun to work into my financial life and will
continue to do so by putting any money I can towards it. Having an emergency fund is so simple
but can help so much in my financial life to come. A lesson from this class I will most likely
avoid is graduating college debt free. To graduate college debt free would be an amazing thing to
accomplish, but is not an attainable goal for my current situation. As a high school senior, I have
been unable to work and save money till this past summer. Because of this, I have little to no
money saved for college and will end up having debt once I finish my education. Even though I
will have some debt I have made it my goal to apply for any scholarship I qualify for to reduce the
total amount of debt I will have. All in all, I am not completely avoiding this lesson I am just not
going to stop my education to not go into debt. The most shocking and interesting lesson I learned
during this class is that you don t need a credit score to function in society or to be able to make
large purchases. This came as a shock
Tess Of The D Urbervilles Double Standard Essay
Tess Durbeyfield is one of several women who have experienced the repercussions of the double
sexual standard society has placed upon the world. In Thomas Hardy s Tess of the d Urbervilles,
Tess is portrayed as a young maiden attempting to survive a troublesome life. Along her life
journey, she encounters numerous men, particularly Alec d Urberville and Angel Clare. Through
her experiences with these men, this double standard, or the idea that men and women are not
enabled to act in the same way, is emphasized in the way she is treated and viewed following
certain events in the novel. Early in the novel, following the detrimental death of Prince, Tess is
coaxed into traveling from Marlott to Trantridge in order to collect extra money for her... Show more

It explains the background for much of Tess s motives and attitudes throughout the novel. Tess is
expected to follow the directions of both Alec and Angel. Along with this, she is shamed by society
after the unwarranted sexual relations with Alec and after being left by Angel following their
marriage. However, these men did not experience the same circumstances Tess succumbed to, which
is a perfect example of the double sexual standard Hardy presents in his
Difference Between Classroom Learning And Online Learning
Bishnu Khatiwada Classroom learning vs online learning Development in the education sector
has given people many choices of learning to meet their educational goals. The current and
popular systems of learning are classroom learning and online learning. I used to think all ways of
learning are the same, until I had taken a couple of classes and had to overcome some challenges
classroom learning and online learning are different in terms of support network, quality of peer
interaction, decision making, and success Having a support network is a useful tool for achieving
success. Many students cannot succeed in learning because they face challenges of finding the right
resources that are available to them. There are many resources available on campus and they are
organized in such a way that they are easy to access like campus tutoring centers for different
subjects, reading club, on campus library, and different student organizations that are available to
assist them. For example, whenever students have trouble understanding any course material, they
have an opportunity go to the tutoring center and seek help. However, it is very hard to get those
resources available to leaners who take online courses. Whenever students have trouble
understanding the assignment, they need to rely on email conversations to solve the problem and
don t know when their teacher is going to get back to them. It can be very frustrating. One of my
friends shared his experience taking an online course for math, and it was very difficult to
understand the course materials with tutorials video. He told me about his experience stocking in the
middle of the assignment was approaching was huge problem to overcome and maintain grade.
Quality peer interaction is important for all human beings, cannot imagine life without any
interaction. Classroom can be good place to meet a new people from diverse backgrounds, even
from a different culture. Meeting people we can share common interest, learn about new culture
Immigration Problems In America
America is often referred to as the Land of Immigration ( A History of Immigration in the USA ).
The foundation of America was built on immigration, when in 1492 Christopher Columbus, an
Italian explorer, discovered the Americas. Not only is immigration the base of America s history, but
it is also beneficial to the economy and society. Immigration increases the labor force, including
everyday, necessary jobs (Anderson). Therefore, immigrants are beneficial to the economical and
societal growth of America. To begin with, immigration causes a number of problems for America.
The first problem is that America is being overrun with immigrants. This problem is focusing on the
undocumented immigrants. A solution to stopping undocumented immigrants from overrunning
America is building a wall. The overwhelming increase of immigrants is causing a problem for U.S.
citizens; because of immigrants, jobs are taken away from American citizens. A third problem that
immigration causes is that immigrants are a drain on society s resources (Cole). Government
benefits should be cut off from immigrants. Stopping these benefits would save money and diminish
incentives for immigrants to illegally enter the United States(Cole). Although immigrants come to
America, they refuse to assimilate (Cole). Their refusal to assimilate denies America of its cultural
and political unity. An example of this is the large migration of the Chinese to California in the
1850s. These Chinese immigrants
Stereotypes Of Wonder Women
In what ways does Pattie Jenkins 2017 Wonder Woman eschew superhero stereotypes and present a
strong female narrative?
Although superhero movies have become some of the most popular and successful movie
instalments of the 21st century most of these movies have been about men and focused on their
trials and triumphs while also creating and perpetrating negative stereotypes of women. The female
superhero movie falls into one of three categories: the victim, the tomboy and the bombshell. In the
first category the victim constantly finds herself at the centre of trouble and requires the main man
in the movie to swoop in and save her, she is a passive and weak character. The bombshell tends to
be highly sexualised, wearing tight clothes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The male characters in the movie support and help Diana but at no point do they overshadow her
or make her rely on them. Steve Trevor is given his own storyline, important in its own right but
never more important than Diana s quest. Diana declares herself independent from the beginning of
her journey, flirting with Steve but also putting him in his place, They came to the conclusion that
men are essential for procreation, but when it comes to pleasure... unnecessary. Right from the
beginning Diana is on her own journey, separate to that of the male characters, and she is able to
rely on her own strength. Although Steve Trevor is constantly urging Diana to avoid danger and
risks, she frequently ignores him, placing other people s safety above her own and defending other
s, not being defended, I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. 1 Diana proves her
independence and strength repeatedly throughout the film, leading men into battle, running through
No Man s Land and attacking soldier s terrorising a town, always despite being urged into safety by
her male counterparts. I cannot stand by while innocent lives are lost! 1 Gal Gadot s characterisation
of Diana also circumnavigates the victim stereotype, Diana s innocence and naiveté of the world of
man never overshadowing the strength and power she constantly evokes, her walk
America’s Assistance to the Tibetans Essay
America s Assistance to the Tibetans

Starting in the late 1940s, with Cold War tensions running high and the subsequent Communist
takeover of China as well as the outbreak of the Korean War, there was a growing fear in the United
States of the possibility of a global conflict between the Communist bloc and the West. Thus, the US
government adopted a policy of doing its best to contain Communism around the world, especially
in Asia after the formation of the People s Republic of China (PRC). When the People s Liberation
Army (PLA) invaded Tibet in 1950, the US considered it possible or even probable that the PRC
would use Tibet as a launching pad to expand Communism into the rest of South and Southeast Asia,
an early appearance of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In keeping with the historic Chinese conviction(never actually formalized) that Tibet was at the
very least a vassal state of China, the Nationalist government took the official stated view that
Tibet was an integral part of the Republic of China (Xu 1063). Therefore, we deferred to the
Nationalist point of view when considering Tibet s legal status in the 1940s. The fact that the
KMT believed Tibet to be part of China would be a factor in the US Tibet policy as long as the
KMT remained in power in mainland China ( Norbu 264). In fact, if the KMT somehow managed
to hold on to power in China in the Civil War against the Communists, the US would have declined
to support Tibetan independence. However, by 1948 the KMT s defeat was imminent and the US
Ambassador in India recognized the possibility that if the Communists succeed in controlling all of
China...we should be prepared to treat Tibet as independent to all intents and purposes (Knaus 55).
At this early stage, even with such statements bringing up the issue of recognizing Tibetan
independence, the US continued to make an effort to avoid alienating Chiang Kai shek and the KMT
(Roberts 2).

By early 1949, Mao s Communist forces had gained full control and formed the PRC. Its stated goals
included returning Tibet, Xinjiang, and Mongolia to the
Theme Of Racism In Othello
In the mid 1600s, England went through a time called Elizabethan Era. During this time, racism
was common. People of color were called savage. However, in Othello by William Shakespeare,
had issues about race. Throughout the play, we see a difficult relation between Othello, a black
man, Desdemona, a white woman and the everyone. They weren t happy that Desdemona and
Othello were together. The crime that was committed by Othello was called a pressure group
because he was pressured by Iago words. However, in order to understand the racial issues, we
should know about the Elizabethan attitude to the black people. Othello is a Moor. He moved from a
white Venetian group to a terrible breakdown. One of the main cause of hatred in England, shows
how people of color were treated like back then. Other main cause was what the white peopletreated
other racelike. All members of each race have characteristics, talents, or assets. It is described as
discrimination or prejudice that is led against someone who fits in a different race. If someone
discriminates someone that is because of their ethnicity and race. As we know racism is presented
throughout the play in William Shakespeare s Othello. According to Rudolph Shaw, about mid
sixteenth century, the English met with Africans. The Native West Africans appeared first in
London. Blacks were a very noticeable in Shakespeare s London. Europeans considered that African
men are barbaric, illiterate, and promiscuous and they are good
The Preparation Of Grignard Reagents
The preparation of Grignard reagents typically involves the reaction of an alkyl halide or aryl halide
with magnesium metal in an anhydrous ethereal solvent. This reaction results in the formation of a
carbon magnesium complex within an alkyl magnesium halide or aryl magnesium halide. Grignard
reagents are considered to be strong nucleophiles and strong bases that have the ability to react with
acidic proton sources and carbonyl functional groups. The preparation of Grignard reagents must be
conducted in aprotic solvents to minimize interactions with strong proton sources that may result in
undesired products. Furthermore, the solvent chosen for the reaction must dissolve everything in
solution. Commonly used solvents in Grignard reactions are diethyl etherand tetrahydrofuran (THF).
They are preferred over hexane solvents due to the presence of an oxygenatom which contains a lone
electron pair that attracts the partially positive magnesium metal, resulting in increased stability. As
mentioned previously, Grignard reagents are strong nucleophiles. Thus, there is a possibility that
they may react with other molecules in side reactions. One such side reaction involves the Grignard
reagent reacting with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a peroxide molecule. In another side reaction,
the Grignard reagent may react with carbon dioxide(CO2) to form a carboxylate molecule. These side
reactions can pose a problem since molecular oxygen and carbon dioxide are in excess under normal
