A Brief Note On The First Standing Wheelchair
Introduction into Standing Wheelchairs
The first standing wheelchair is an AT Device similar to a standing frame, which allows a
wheelchair user to raise their chair from a seated to an upper standing position. The standing
wheelchair is also known as X0 202 Karman. This AT device was discovered to help those with
disabilities be able to get around places frequently. This chair has been used to help people who
aren t able to stand or reach things in a higher area. This device help people with disables enable
their interaction with either people or objects at eye level. This wheelchair is an electric chair so you
would have to keep it charged for a few hours in order to use a fully charge chair when you go out.
The standing chair has different buttons on the arm piece where you can adjust your chair to a
comfortable position. This chair is also used to help those with disabilities support the person
standing or sitting position for those who have an spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury,
stroke, post polio syndrome, multiple sclerosis and more. Mostly those who have suffered from
both paraplegia and quadriplegia use; this AT device is used to help disabled people get around
easily. Standing device was developed in 1975 to help provide independence and new level of
mobility to people with disabilities on a better life. Standing wheelchairs was developed in
Minneapolis, veteran that designed these engineered chairs to help parlayed veterans live a more

Edwards Syndrome Research Paper
Edwards Syndrome is very unique. It is a genetic disorder that has odd symptoms. Its history is
pretty much how someone would expect it to be. It has very cruel effects to the people born with
this disorder. It has cost many people their lives. This article will explain all of the need to know
stuff on Edward s syndrome. Edwards Syndrome also known as Trisomy 18 is a genetic disorder
where there are three copies of chromosome 18 instead of two. There are many symptoms of
Edwards syndrome like low set ears, abnormally shaped head, and long overlapped fingers. There is
also bone abnormalities, frequent lung and urinary infections, and smooth feet. Others are an
exomphalos, a small mouth and jaw, and breathing problems. Also a severe learning
The Reaction Of A Fischer Esterification Reaction
In this experiment, a Fischer Esterification reaction was performed with two unknown
compounds. The unknown compounds, Acid 2 and Alcohol D, were identified by using the
knowledge of the reaction that took place, and the identity of the product that was synthesized.
The identification of the product resulted from analysis of IR and NMR spectra. For this
experiment, Alcohol D and Acid 2 reacted in the presence of concentrated sulfuric acid, resulting
in a colorless solution with brown layer on top. After washes with sodium bicarbonate and brine,
the pale yellow liquid product was dried and then distilled. Distillation resulted in two colorless
fractions, the second of which had a boiling point of 69 70 ˚C. This boiling point is unrealistic for
any compound obtained in this experiment, so it was not used in identifying the product. After
distillation, both fractions were spectroscopically analyzed. The IR and NMR spectra obtained
for both fraction were identical, meaning both fractions contained exactly the same substance.
Both fractions also smelled the same, like piña colada, therefore confirming this conclusion. This
outcome also meant that the amount of product synthesized was 5.7393 g. For the identification
of the product, IR, 13C NMR and 1H NMR spectra were examined, and the product was found to be
butyl propionate. In the IR spectrum, RM 11 Bi, five key peaks are observed. These peaks are sp3
hybridized carbons at 2961 cm 1 and 2877 cm 1, an ester at 1737 cm 1, a
The Importance of New Zealand’s Forestry Industry Essay
New Zealand s forests are one of its greatest natural resources, holding significant financial, physical,
and spiritual value (DOC, 2013). These forests provide a significant trading resource (Perry, Oren,
Hart, 2008), directly influence soil and flora quality (West, 2006), and contribute to the cultural
health of Maori by enhancing their whakapapa (or Connection with the land) (Gallagher Te Atawhai
o te Ao, 2011).
This resource, however, is under threat through poor management (Levack, Poole, Bateson, 2006),
over exploitation (MPI, 2003) and the operating conditions of the Forestry Industry (ACC, 2007).

According to ACC reports, there were 200 serious injuries and fatalities in 2012, leading to a
financial cost to ACC of $10 million dollars (ACC, 2014). The emotional cost of the death of a
family member, is incalculable (Bowlby West, 1983), and the resulting void may instigate
feelings of disbelief, shock and anger by the co victims (family), especially without prior mental
and emotional readiness (Clements, DeRanieri, Vigil Benasutti, 2004), such as would occur if a
family member died of a terminal illness. An example of this void can be observed in the case of
Mr Charles Finlay of Tokoroa, who was one of twenty eight forestry workers to lose his life, in the
workplace since 2008. (The New Zealand Herald, 2013). Finlay left behind a widow (Maryanne
Butler Finlay) with three children, as composed in Bowen, (2013), stating That the family are
struggling to get over the death and are undergoing grief counselling, also requiring time off school
to recover from their shortfall .
In addition to the hazards posed by the industry, there have been studies conducted that suggest mass
deforestation of an area can result in a decrease in air
Compare And Contrast Allorganic Vs Osteopathic
There is more than one type of doctorate in the medical field. A physician can earn either an
allopathic (MD) or an osteopathic (DO) degree. An allopathic degree is the more traditional form of
medical education that focuses on treating and eliminating disease with medicines. An osteopathic
education focuses more on holistic medicine, preventing disease and an additional 300 to 500 hours
of hands on musculoskeletal manipulation training (Medline Plus). The philosophy between the two
paths may differ, but at the end of either path is a fully qualified doctor. My mother is family
physicianand a doctor of osteopathy or DO. My father is a cardiologist and a medical doctor or
MD. Even though one is an osteopathic physician and the other an allopathic physician, they have
both had very similar experiences. To become a physician, whether allopathic or osteopathic,
requires similar education, training, certification, and motivation. Both allopathic and osteopathic
physicians are required to have the same basic education. They are required to graduate from
college with a bachelor s degree. My mother has a bachelor s degree with a double major in
biology and chemistry, and my father has a bachelors in premed biochemistry. It does not have to be
premed, biology, or chemistry, but it does help. Each medical school has specific... Show more

The majority of physicians enter the medical field to help fellow mankind. They have a general
sense of compassion, or a need to relieve suffering. Most doctors are also highly self disciplined
and highly motivated people. My mother decided to become a doctor because she likes to talk to
and help people and was always excited to learn. My father chose to become a doctor because he
liked the mental challenge of having to fix complex problems and a chance to use hand eye
coordination skills. Most doctors share a common motivation to pursue this

recreational boaters had steadily declined at a rate of one to two percent per year through the late
1990 s up into 2000. A fear that slumping economic conditions would further impact the market was
a big problem facing the industry. This is why many 2001 models of recreational boats were housed

li value= 3 Driving forces are always going to change the market no matter what industry you are
in. The driving forces saw big changes as the market began to grow. The first driving force that I
noticed was the sports potential that the industry had. With the acceptance of waterskiing into the
Gravity Games and World Games, the industry only became more attractive for more companies to
pop up and compete. Also, boat shows and both the national and regional level have helped to drive
competition to all time highs. These shows allow the main consumers to get different options from
different companies and help to drive competition to all time highs. The more bargaining power, the
more competition will be evident. Also, products and technological innovations are helping to drive
competition. Companies within the boating industry are always coming out with new, fresh ideas
that help to make their products more attractive compared to other companies. So the other
companies have to in turn do the same thus driving competition. Finally, the spare parts market is
helping to drive competition. New entrants into the boating industry can use the spare parts market
to help build their business into the industry and eventually become a major contributor to the
overall market. All of these forces pushing the market to change are in a way good for the
The Politics Of The Texas Tea Party
The Texas Tea Party is one of the many Tea Parties spread thought the United States. The Texas
division itself is split further into many subdivision groups of the Texas Tea Party; including the
McKinney Tea Party, Mason Tea Party, and the North Houston Tea Party Patriots. All Tea Parties
share core principles of free markets, fiscal responsibility, Constitutional Republic, limited
government, lower taxes, and national sovereignty. Additionally, the movement of the Texas Tea
Party affords a home for those concerned about the economic future of the United States.
The Great Recession of 2008 spurred the rise of populist sentiment. Distrust of the federal

The Senator of South Carolina, Jim DeMint, supported Tea Party candidates from within Republican
establishments (Ray, par 5).
In 2009 at least 200 Tea Party groups were formed in Texas. The amount of people in Texas
inspired by the Tea Party movement only became evident on Election Day. 47 percent of Texas
voters claimed to be supporters of the Tea Party. Their turnout produced a Republican gain of twenty
two seats in the Texas House of Representatives.
There are at least two threats that the Tea Party currently faces. The first threat is the anti Tea Party
meme; which is a construct of liberal media calling the Tea Party dangerous extremists. However,
the Tea Party has debunked this charge through habitually civil behavior. Another part of the anti
Tea Party meme is charges of racism. However, the fading of large Tea Party gatherings have taken
away opportunities to demonstrate large crowds of white people as a sign of racism.
A second threat to the Tea Party is the threat of widespread voter fraud. If voter fraud is too
widespread, the efforts of the Tea Party may not be enough to counteract the get out the vote efforts
of Tea Party organizations across the nation (Cary, 2).
There is no single agenda of the Tea Party. This allows each autonomous group to set its own
priorities. Tea Party organizers view this as strength, because this aids against corruption from within
and co opting by outside entities. The Tea Party s
Wood Essay
In the distance I hear my dad s truck pulling a trailer bringing more wood ready to be split and
stack. First he backs the trailer up careful to not hit any trees or the sugar shack. Then he starts to
tip the hydraulic trailer bed all you hear is the sound of wood scraping the rusted metal and
hitting other logs then it s quiet. When he s done everyone releases their breath that we didn t
realize we were holding. Now time to split the wood, first we set up our hydraulic splitter thats
connected to our blue Holly tractor. After we get we get the splitter set up than we separate the
logs into two piles one for smaller logs that we can split with an ax or a maul, the other pile is for
logs that are too big to split or have to many knots. We... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you drill into a tree you point the drill bit slightly up. We don t drill more than one hole in a
tree per season unless the tree is 20 inches or bigger in diameter. Each person has a job, we
usually have two drillers, two people to put taps in the trees, and then everyone else runs buckets
and lids, plus one person drives the tractor (it s usually my Grandpa). We have about 200 buckets
and taps, it takes about 2 hours to tap all the trees. Now all the trees are tapped and it s been about
about a week so the trees have a bit of sap in the buckets, now it s time to pick up sap. First we get
the tractor connected to our sap trailer, it s an old stainless steel milk holder, we use it because it s
insulated. Then we start to pick up sap we have one person on the tractor driving and everyone
else running buckets except for my dad he s at the sugar shack boiling the sap, and if we have a
lot of people helping us then we have people start to consolidate buckets and put the buckets by
the side of the trail. Now that the sap pick up is done then we pull up to the front of the sugar
shack then we hook up the RO (reverse osmosis) hose to the spigot of the sap trailer, the reason we
run the sap through the RO is that the RO takes out about half of the water in the sap. Then the sap
goes to one of our holding tanks from there the sap goes to the starting pan. In the starting pan we
boil out as much water as we can without burning once the sap
The Life Of A Bill. Trace The Pathway Of A Bill Through
The Life of a Bill Trace the Pathway of a bill through both houses of Congress Have you ever
wondered how bills are passed through Congress? Have you ever wondered why it takes so much
time for a bill to be signed? Both of these questions will lead you to the same conclusion. You will
find that the process of creating and passing bills is very complex and it requires multiple stages
of revision that can be halted throughout the multitude of steps that it goes through. This essay
will inform you on how a bill is passed through both houses of Congress. To begin it would be best
to understand what a bill is. A bill is a proposal of a law (2). Bills can only emerge in Congress (2).

An example would be that if a bill is brought up for education, that bill would go to a committee
that specializes in education. After the bill hits the desks of the committee, those members will read
the legislation and seek out departments and organizations that can provide more insight on the
contents of the bill (5). For example, if the education committee is gathering information they will
most likely ask for the expert opinion of individuals within the Department of Education. When
getting the specifics of something, the committee will most likely assign a subcommittee to look at
something very specific (5). All the subcommittee is, is a small group of people from the original
committee that get very specific information (5). While the committee and subcommittee is getting
an experts analysis on the proposed bill, they are also checking so make sure that the bill has a
high priority in society (5). To do this the committee hands the bill off to the Government
Accountability Office (GAO) (5). The people in the GAO check and make sure that the bill is
worth the time of the committee by judging how much of an impact that it will have on the
government or the lives of everyone in the United States of America (5). Once the GAO has reached
their decision, the committee then decides whether they will hold a meeting or not hold a meeting
(5). Now the committee has deemed the bill
Potential Lead Contamination From Drinking Water
Introduction
Course Overview
Potential lead contamination from drinking water presents a significant health risk. Recent examples
of this lead contamination include Flint, Michigan, a city that experienced a large increase in the
number of people, especially children, who exhibited symptoms of lead poisoning. A March 9, 2016
article in the Washington Post reported data from the Environmental Protection Agency that
indicated approximately 350 schools and day care centers across the US failed lead tests
approximately 470 times between 2012 and 2015. Seven years ago, according to the Post, a study
concluded that hundreds of young children in Washington, DC, had potentially damaging amounts
of lead in their blood due to contamination in the city s tap water. The toxin can cause permanent
developmental and behavioral issues.
A February 8, 2016, NY Times article reported that five months after Sebring, Ohio officials found
unsafe lead levels, the City issued a warning for pregnant women and children and shut down taps
and fountains in schools.
In 2001, after Washington, D.C., changed how it disinfected drinking water, lead in tap water at
thousands of homes spiked as much as 20 times the federally approved level. Residents did not find
out for three years. When they did, officials ripped out lead water pipes feeding 17,600 homes and
discovered three years later that many of the repairs had only prolonged the contamination.
The crisis in Flint, where as many as 8,000
