Imagery In The Juggler
The use of different literary devices such as imagery, symbolism and diction convey the many
tasks of life the juggler has trouble juggling. The juggler appears to be an important figure in this
community and his importance is shown through the crowds reaction. The different literary
devices help us to create a world of our own while he shows us a part of ours. It is also shown
through his many eye catching actions as well as the multiple emotions of the audience. The use
of imagery in The Juggler shows us that it is physically hard to balance the many tasks of life.
[The juggler] trades it all for a broom, a plate, a table. Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom
s balancing up on his nose, (18 19). The crowds reaction shows how

Communism In Joseph Mccarthy s Second Red Scare
Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist party (Barnes)? This question was
asked by Republican senator Joseph McCarthy to hundreds of people that he proclaimed were
Communists during the late 1940s and early 1950s. McCarthy s words were ones of fear that the
American public gravitated toward to show their hatred for communism. Although this anti
communist effort was only most evident in the mid 20th century, the McCarthy strategy of creating
baseless claims against people continues to happen in today s society. The media has covered and
created false stories that the American public thrives on. Many people see these stories as factual
instead of falsehoods. The American population has also become McCarthy esque... Show more

After World War I, America was having economic difficulties. William Wheeler and Susan Becker
said, The Bolshevik Revolution gave many Americans a convenient scapegoat for their postwar
troubles. A few Americans were involved in radical activities, as evidenced by the discovery of
numerous mail bombs intended for thirty six prominent government leaders. Americans, however,
identified communist conspirators as the cause of all their postwar difficulties (Wheeler 233). The
accusation of communists against America created the first hatred toward the organization.
Americans now believed that communism was not just a factor on the other side of the world. It
was now near their homes. The fear of communism was growing larger and larger with each passing
day. During the Cold War, the Soviets had created an atomic bomb (Giblin 75). The invention
brought the War to new heights with total destruction seeming inevitable. More and more countries
were becoming communist, as well. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s America was overwhelmed
with concerns about the threat of communism growing in Eastern Europe and China ( McCarthyism
). China was taken in 1949 by communist rebels ( Joseph McCarthy ). It was feared that communism
would spread around the globe, eventually reaching the United States. The tension between
democracy and communism was at an all time
The Jesus, I Never Knew By Philip Yancey
Jesus is like the water a person drinks, it is a must to survive. I believe, that everyone has their
idealized image of a social figure he or she does not know such as Martin Luther King, John F,
Kennedy, and Malcolm X to name a few. Each of these people at one point has been portrayed in
entertainment and people do not know if what is being portrayed is true. According to Yancey
(1995), he described Jesusas thin, handsome, skin waxen and milky white man (p.13). However,
after Yancey attends college, he begins to ponder, who is the real image of Jesus, aside from
what is being portrayed in movies, or other entertainment? Sometimes, in life, people can go off
what they have seen or heard about a person and not really understand the person. While, I am a
granddaughter, of a minster, I have been told stories about who Jesus is, but have I seen him as
the person he is deep down? The purpose of this paper is seeking to discuss the summary of the
book, The Jesus, I Never Knew. I will be talking about Philip Yanceys take on what he thinks of
Jesus. I also will be discussing, some of Philip Yancey strengths and weakness about his book.
Everyone in life, has a certain image of what he or she thinks of Jesus. In the beginning of the book,
Phillip Yancey, talks about, Who Jesus Was in part one. In part one, the reader gains a better insight
into Jesus s younger years, which is unknown to many people. In fact, the only information that
people known about Jesus younger years are
Untapped Resources In HBU
Untapped Resources
It s shocking what one can learn by simply going onto you re school s website and getting to know
the campus better. A plethora of resources is made available to students, but simply aren t payed any
attention to. The campus is brimming with staff that wish to better their students lives; however they
lack the manner of reaching the undergraduates or even the resources to make the difference. HBU
needs to improve their connection with incoming freshman and fix any lacking areas in their
program to prevent students who are struggling from being overwhelmed by college life. HBU sets
out to actively improve students lives, through new and innovating orientation programs that are

In some cases they can t even receive the aid they need thus leaving stressed students in a hopeless
mindset. Despite some programs being glossed over and important building are left in the shadow,
there are many useful and incredible programs set to help students in dire situation with counseling
and advising. While there it is a student responsibility to seek out aid, many are new freshman with
little or no experience being independent and simply don t know what they can do. Therefore there
has to be some form or manner to introduce the resources to undergraduates or give incentive to
have students enter their office and learn about valuable resources they have. Something as small as
having a meeting with one of the staff members for clw point can bride the disconnection and fear
these vulnerable students have about speaking about their issues to an advisor that can alter the
success of a student s life in school and at
Lemony Snicket s A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Lemony Snicket s A Series of Unfortunate Events , is a film directed by Brad Silberling, that is
action packed, and with a plot that is rather... unfortunate.

The film begins with the Baudelaire children, Voilet (Emily Br owning), Klaus (Liam Aiken), and
Sunny (Kara Hoffman), being told that their parents had been killed in a fire that also destroyed
their mansion. A very depressing start to a very depressing film. As, the children have no close
relatives they are then transferred to their beloved Count Olaf. When they first are left with Count
Olaf, it is quite apparent that he doesn t care for the children at all, but only wants the huge fortune
that he will inherit if they are dead.

I personally found this film to be a very gloomy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the characters were moving for some reason, it really felts as though you were in the film
watching the events revolve around you. The special effects were also well executed, such as the
scene at Aunt Josephine s house where the house is dangling over the cliff. If is wasn t so
ridiculous, you might even believe it to be real!

Another great part of the film, was the sound/music. Dramatic music was used a lot, which made
sense considering it was a pretty dramatic film. However, in the parts of the film that aren t so
dramatic, the calm music is also very well used, and strongly reminds me of the Nemo soundtrack.

Brad Silberling, the director of the film, has done many other films other than this one. His most
famous include, Casper (1995), City of Angels (1998), and Land of the Lost (2009). Something
that all these films have in common, is that they all contain big stars, and are often either a hit, or
miss. An example of this, is Land of the lost . It had a budget of 130 million Aud, and had a box
office of around 89 million Aud, not a great movie to say the least.

Overall, Lemony Snicket s A Series of Unfortunate Events, was an average film with good actors
and cinematography, that was let down by the down right depressing and unrealistic plot. I give this

A Letter To A Little Princess
To the Little Princess: This is an open letter to my favorite friend, Sara Crewe, the best princess
forever. My little princess, you are the lighthouse of hope above the dark ocean of hardship;
beside, you are my admired girl who taught me how to get through the plight and predicament on
myself during my childhood. Your unfettered imaginations, positive attitudes, and mighty
adversity quotient all are lessons enlightened me so much till now. Therefore, I usually call you a
butterfly against flowing wind , that a pretty and seemingly weak butterfly with incredible power.
To speak specifically, Sara, you have an unlimited and unfettered visions wherever you are; also,
you always keep your sunny, positive outlooks whatever you are. And, I love all your
imaginations whenever I am. Without a princess suit, or the crown, you are a special one in the
school. More than a so called princess, you are a real princess cause you have a powerful heart.
You knew the hardship, or exclusion from the peer, but you never thought they are the most
relentless enemies in your life; you even felt the sorrow of losing your dear papa, however you never
considered that would beat you; then you suffered the falling difference from a popular girl at
school to a unfed worker, however you never forgot you were a princess. I love your speaking:
Whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess
inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed
The Medical Ethics Of Human Experimentation
When one researches about the medical ethics in human experimentation, it is difficult to
disregard the harsh realities of it. As Leonard Nimoy stated in his role as Spock in the movie, Star
Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few . This is the
cruel truth that be seen everywhere, but many people tend to ignore it since it is such a dreary
thought. Many people, especially those in third world countries, are exploited every day. Large
corporate companies come to typically poorer foreign nations, where there is a large gap between
the rich and poor, to find cheaper workers. Many people in these foreigners tend to be desperate for
money and immediately sign up for these jobs. Typical corporations would hire these people and
make them work in inhumane working conditions such as long hours, less pay, and give no
sanitation facilities. Although this happens on an everyday basis, there are very few people out
there who challenge the large corporations. This example can also apply to medical ethics,
sometimes a small amount of people have to suffer through experiments to help the general public.
Although this is a morbid thought, it has been used in the past. During the mid twentieth century,
many American scientist believe that experimenting on a few people and making them suffer would
create results that would be very beneficial to the general public. Today, most modern developed
countries don t believe in this ideology, but there are
The Importance Of Citizenship In American History
1.How was citizenship historically defined, and how did that definition change over time?

As stated in the film The House We Live In: Race The Power of an Illusion Whiteness was key to
citizenship. , in the United States. Being white was subjectively understood, it did not necessarily
indicate your ancestry. The Court would make decisions about who was considered white or black
under the law. Congress had passed an act in 1790 declaring that only free white immigrants could
become naturalized citizens. Naturalization was extended to persons of African descent after the
Civil War. Even still white citizens were the only ones who had the right to vote and participate in
government duties as well as having access to better jobs. You could only gain the full benefits of
being an American citizen if you were white. As stated by Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum and Carr
(2015), In modern societies, most people living within the borders of the political system are citizens
having common rights and duties and knowing themselves to be members of a national community.
(p.396). The definition of citizenship changed over time because at first in order to be a naturalized
citizen in the United States you had to be characterized as white or black. But with so many
immigrants coming into the country of all different races, being defined as either white or black
presented as a problem. In 1857 (Dred Scott) African Americans were not considered citizens and
were not granted citizenship
The Wechsler Preschool And Primary Scale Of Intelligence
According to The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence 4th Edition, Zaden is
functioning at an overall level of general intelligence designated as average. Zaden s verbal
comprehension, visual spatial skills, and full scale IQ are in the average range. His working
memory is in the high average range. THE DEVEREUX EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSESSMENT
(DECA) is a standardized norm reference behavioral rating scale evaluating within child
protective factors in preschool children age 2 to 5. Primary caregivers and educational
professionals evaluate the frequency of 27 positive behaviors exhibited by the preschooler. The
primary purpose of the DECA is to identify and assess the strengths and comparative weaknesses
of a child s protective factors (initiative, self control, and attachment). The initiative factor scale
measures the child s ability to use independent thought and action to meet his or his needs.
Children who receive high scores on the initiative score are often somewhat independent, active
learners who will start or organize activities with other children. They tend to be optimistic and
good problem solvers. The self control scale assesses a child s ability to experience a range of
feelings and express them using words and actions considered appropriate. Children with high ratings
on this scale are generally able to handle frustration and negative emotions without acting out.
Children who score high in this scale tend to be cooperative, patient, and
