Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone By Sophocles
The play, Antigone, written by Sophocles shows the different downfalls of characters. One of these
characters is Creon. Creon does not realize that his pride and stubbornness has interfered his ability
to deal with problems and rule of Thebes properly. By analyzing Creon, one could see that he is
considered a tragic heroin this play. The characteristics a person must have to be a tragic hero is he
has a hamartia, or tragic flaw. More often than not that tragic flaw is excessive pride, or a hubris.
The character then goes through a peripeteia, which is a twist where the character realizes that
things will not turn out the way he expected. Finally, the character has an anagnorisis, which is
their epiphany that makes them realize their hamartia (Cap, Creon as a Tragic Character in
Antigone ). The tragic hero characteristics in Creon are clearly shown when he speaks with blind
prophet, Teiresias. The character interaction between Creon and Teiresias helps develop Creon as
a tragic hero in Antigone. Being the leader of Thebes, Creon wants order and loyalty to the city.
After the death of Eteocles and Polyneices, Creon makes it known that anyone who acts against
the city is an enemy. Creon decides that Polyneices would not receive a burial because he sees him
as a traitor. Not burying the dead is uncommon for many since it went against religious beliefs.
Antigone saw the wrong that was being done, as did other citizens. Creon says that for quite a while

André Costa student 894, Class TB, Marketing in a Dynamic World 19 09 2011

in 1856, the company s expansion and growth was the result of an accurate management planning
and a recent winner marketing strategy that will be explored below in this article. The focus on this
case study is based on the challenge of repositioning in the market the brand Burberry, which by the
middle of the 90 s was losing distinctiveness due to the lack of consistency and cohesive vision that
it takes to be positioned as a luxury goods retailer. When Rose Marie Bravo entered as chief

These flagship stores work simultaneously as communication bridges towards the costumers to
transmit the vision of the company, and as a booster for restoring Burberry s strong identity.
Especially if we lean on the locations elected: Barcelona, London and New York, which are cities
where cutting edge fashion is more expressive, the installation of this showcases in those locations
permits a softer integration of this so used classic brand in the ultimate fashion segment. This way
the communication of what the new position of Burberry is (the niche referred before) turned to be
faster and clearer. The product line was updated dividing the products into two new categories:
continuity and fashion oriented. Continuity products are expected to have a longer life cycle over
the years while the fashion oriented ones tend to be available in the market for shorter periods of
time as they are trend sensitive and they enter/leave the market whenever the collections are new or
old. This new product portfolio satisfies then the cross generational new concept of the brand. In
addition, there were introduced three primary collections: menswear, womenswear and accessories
and the brand switched name from Burberry s to Burberry. In this context the advertising efforts to

and provide for improvement in the school s instructional program, and professional development to
improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty

the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions has

A primary value for Southwest is that people work harder when they are happy. One of the
reasons that Southwest has had such good relationships with its employees is because the
company treats them well and in return the employees will treat the customers well. This also
suggests that if clients are happy, they are likely to come back again. Herb s objective seems to
be appropriate since the organization has enjoyed 50 uninterrupted quarters of profits. Herb
explains that there exists no difference on their grand culture. According to Kelleher, focusing on
every stakeholder in the corporation personally, and not merely on their work, calls for a massive
information network. Every business has its intelligence and metrics, but only a few of them are
eager to incorporate time, money, attention, and effort in order to prove they care about their
employees (Gittell, 2003). This might seem to be an odd thing to focus on as a business but it
enabled Southwest to succeed. Kelleher said, having a simple set of values for a company was
also a very efficient and expedient way to go (Freiberg Freiberg, 1996, p. 48). Kelleher added that
it is a straightforward manner of carrying out business operations, but definitely not an easy one.
The approach can only be applicable is organizations where people define and recognize the culture
for themselves. The organizational behavior of
