Setelah proses mencari informasi, bertanya, berdiskusi siswa dapat:
Mengenali fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan pada teks tulis
manual/prosedur
Menerapkan informasi terkait fungsi sosial struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan
pada teks tulis manual/prosedur
Mengurutkan kalimat yang tepat pada teks tulis manual dengan mengaitkan
gambar yang disajikan agar menjadi teks tulis yang padu
Menulis teks tulis manual/prosedur sederhana berdasarkan struktur teks dan
unsur kebahasaan secara benar dan sesuai konteks
MATERI AJAR
Manual (Procedure)
Manual or Procedure text is a text which describes how something is achieved through a
sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a
sequence of steps. Procedures may be spoken, written or visual. These may involve
physical activity, mental thought or emotional behavior. There are different types
of procedure texts serving different purposes. Procedures can instruct how to do a
particular activity or help people teaching appropriate behavior. Procedure normally
takes the form of directions or instructions.
a. Purpose
To instruct how something should be done through a series of sequenced steps
To tell how to make or do something or use something
To give advice concerning human behavior
b. Social Function
To describe how something is accomplished through a sequence of actions or steps.
c. Text Structure
Goal
Contains information about the destination in the making or operation of
something
Materials (not required for all procedural texts)
There are three types of procedural text that does not use the materials.
Procedural text that identifies how to perform the instruction manual. (Ex:
How to operate computer)
Procedural text that instructs how to perform certain activities with
unregulated. (Ex: Road safety rules)
Procedural text relating to human nature or habit. (Ex: How to succeed)
Steps 1 – n (i.e. goal followed by a series of steps oriented to achieve the goal)
d. Language Features
Focus on generalized human agents
Use of simple present tense, often imperative
Use action verbs
Ex: cut, peel, plug, etc
Use mainly of temporal conjunctions (or numbering to indicate sequence)
Ex: first, second, third, then, next, finally, at last, etc.
Give detailed information on how
Ex: how (carefully, with the knife), where (into the oven), when (after the water
boils)
Use mainly of material processes

HOW TO USE BLENDER
1. First, make sure the blender is plugged in, clean, and in working condition
2. Second, put your ingredients inside
3. Next, Close the lid and hold the cover tightly
4. Then, blend!
5. Next, open it up and pour it out
6. Finally, clean the blender

HOW TO COOK RICE
1. First, measure rice with the measuring cup. Then rinse the rice thoroughly using
other container
2. Then, put the rinsed rice in the pan and add water to the recommended scale or
to your personal taste
3. Next, soak the rice in water least for 30 minutes
4. After that, place the pan into the body. Make sure the pan settles properly
5. Close the lid firmly
6. Plug in and press the switch. The light indicating “COOK” will be on. The cooking
will start immediately
7. When the rice is cooked, the switch will move up to keep warm, and the light
indicating “WARM” will be on. After the switch moves up, leave the lid closed for
at least 15 minutes to steam the rice fully.
8. Scoop and mix the rice well
9. At last, unplug the cable
