Childhood Innocence Is Veiled By Joy And Ignorance

Dr. Glover
Childhood Innocence Living in an Adult World Childhood innocence is veiled by joy and ignorance
while the hardships of adulthood are incoherent to the imagination of children; as seen in the
troubling world around kids as one of bliss rather than that of worry as an adult. Children s views on
the real world are easily manipulated but the outside sources that are in their everyday lives. These
sources come from the environment around them, such as problems that adults suffer relating to
stress, relationship struggles, job security, and happiness of their family. The unknown problem that
children seem to have masked over them is the importance of reality and how ... Show more content

The father had paid, the collectors are gone, the lights are back on and the family can be thankful.
The emotion range in the house is high as one can image the stress of low income can bring. The
joy of the child is felt, as the joy of the members in this house were as well with the stress of
deadlines have been met. The good times were coming and the good times are here. The dialect of
this poem is another connection to this family and the child, as well as the community they are apart
of. Scholar Joyce Johnson writes in her article titled The Theme of Celebration in Lucille Clifton s
Poetry , her response to this poem. The emotion in this instance is jubilation and the sense of
celebration associated with the good times that come by way of small triumphs in the community
dwellers battle to survive (71). Her quote ties in joy, celebration, and community that all overlap into
the importance of this poem. Johnson writes further, ...those who fail to recognize the measure of
good times in a culture and community they don t understand (72). Those in the community know
the struggles it takes to make a living and provide those happy times for their children. The last lines
of the poem tie in the final conclusion to Clifton s thoughts as oh children think about the good times
(1016) settle the overall understanding that children care for the positivity of a situation.
Inequality In Yemen
Inequality between men and women has been an issue that is present in every aspect of some
cultures that aren t always necessarily the United States. Some women in Yemen, for example,
have been oppressed by being greatly controlled by the word of a man for major decisions and
even the slightest little things. Men in the Islamic viewpoint are superior to women, which is why
they have very few rights. The Islamic religion is one of the most practiced religions in Yemen
which makes society have such traditional beliefs that consist of so called masculine and feminine
roles ( How Does GenderInequality in Yemen Affect Wellbeing ). These roles define men as the
money provider of a family and women as a housekeeper ( How Does Gender Inequality in Yemen
Affect Wellbeing ). Women are not allowed to provide anything with their money to their families
that is only a man s job. Women are also dependent on a man to decide whether or not they can
travel outside of the nation or just simply leave the house.
Women suffering from domestic violence are not considered anything out of the normal; it is viewed
as something that should happen within a family, therefore, these domestic violence cases are usually
not reported (Al Arashi). Having health care is really not an option for women in some countries
unless they have the permission of a man of course and if they do indeed have healthcare it is
extremely poor health care. In some countries, men even decide on how many kids his wife
The Hot Zone Movie Analysis
The book The Hot Zone and the movie Contagion are both about pandemics, with one a possible
pandemic and the other global. They are different because of how the media reacts to the prospect
of a pandemic, as well as how they contain or treat the potential outbreak. Both works showed how
panic can impact and contribute to the spread of the virus. The Hot Zoneand Contagion both show
the media s reaction to a potential pandemic. In the book, the media knew nothing about the
outbreak other than being mildly aware that something had happened at a monkey house in Reston,
Virginia. USAMRIID (the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases)
did everything in their power to ensure no one ascertained the truth, since they knew it would cause
panic. Scientists used back entrances to the monkey house to avoid being photographed in racal
suits. In the movie, the media knew about contaminated people, however, it was not reported as a
outbreak of a deadly virus. The media did not anticipate the virus s impact and the associated risks.
The pandemic increased, more people died, and the media realized they had underestimated the
virus. This resulted in every major media outlet being filled with news of the virus, increases in
updates,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Hot Zone USAMRIID was able to quarantine and decontaminate the monkey house in
Reston with minimal exposure to the virus. Luckily, the virus transpired to only kill monkeys. It
altered in a way to become airborne, but lost the ability to widespread infection in humans. The
virus in Contagion was anticipated to have a smaller effect and therefore was underestimated until
a substantial number of people were infected. Once it was clear that the outbreak was critical the
CDC tried to contain it. On day eight 267,000 people were estimated to be infected. The CDC
finally got a grip on day 133, when a successful vaccine was
What Is Metaphors Used In The Gothic Novel
These dark overtones and internal tensions laid the foundation perfectly for the development of the
gothic novel. The fear of the unknown are represented in Radcliffe s gothic novel as the mystery
surrounding the fates of other women. Once Emily has found out the truth about the other women,
then she is freed of her fears and is able to cope with them. In a very real way she has made the
transition to confidence in herself and her own future. This particular brand of gothic novel seems to
be an encouragement to women and reassures them. Metaphors and Simile have been a part of the
human experience since man began comparing and contrasting things to one another. Used by poets
and novelists alike to express comparisons, these elements are extremely useful to the writer.
Radcliffe manages to use metaphors to continue and round out the overall tone of the novel. This,
too, is evident in the Vol. 2, ch. 5 example. As the landscape changes, she is evoking an implied
metaphor stating that experience is constantly changing and that sometimes, if one is lucky, one will
suddenly hit upon an inner truthor two, which comes as a result of the constant changing.
Interestingly enough, Radcliffe also employs very Romantic Era techniques of utilizing nature to
illustrate some of these truths, both inner and outer. In the Vol. 2, ch. 5 piece, the landscape is
described in detail. If Classical styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced,
structured, and rational, then
Summary Of Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia Convention
Annotated notes for Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention.
Paragraph 1 the tone of the speech was confident, persuasive, passionate, and urgent. The purpose
of the speech was to the Virginia Convention. Some examples of antithesis is give me liberty or
give me death (Henry p6) parallel of liberty and death emphasizes difference and the other one is
there is no retreat but in submission and slavery. Henry appeal the audience with Emotional appeals
(pathos). Henry makes an appeal to ethos by making God seem more important than the earthly
kings, as character and authority prevail over just authority. Although Patrick Henry emphasizes
that he is patriotic towards Britain, he has a different view on how to handle the conflict with
them. He does not immediately discredit the views of the audience but attempts to show them a
different viewpoint. He references the Bible saying, Different men often see the same subject in
different lights. He uses the word light to show his view is aligned with God s purpose. An act of
disloyalty towards the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings Henry juxtaposes
God with the earthly kings. The diction that he uses shows the authority of God over a king (King
George III). The word majesty is related with splendor and quality of God. Paragraph 2 Henry
begins the second paragraph of his speech discussing the illusion of hope. Henry is trying to
accomplish by saying It is natural to man to indulge in the
Leading Like A Great Conductor Essay
Watching the Itay Talgam: Lead like the Great Conductors video orchestra my favorite Conductor
style was that of the final conductor because he lead the orchestra with his arms completely crossed
and occasionally instructed with is his face when a section should begin to play or not.
A great leader is just like a great conductor being in a leadership role one has to find the best way of
seeing things from a different perspective. In viewing the video I saw that there were many parallels
that could be seen between corporations and an orchestra.
Like an orchestra conductor, being a leader within an organization bears the same challenges trying
to create perfect harmony among the different variables in your business to ensure your organization
creates beautiful products and profits, (Leaders, March 2013).
In leading like a great conductor, one will not just lead but must bring out the best in their team
members. Therefore, a good leader may use gestures, facial expression, and eye contact to create a
strong sense of connection and involvement within their team to accomplish their mission.
How would you implement the style of a great conductor style into your leadership methods?

Nestnut Blight Research Paper
In the United States many different parasitic organisms are causing tree epidemics, endangering the
environment and health of their communities. One of the tree epidemics that has occurred was the
Chestnut blight. The American Chestnut was a malleable resource used for its widely used wood
and its chestnuts which fed animals and people alike. Its importance made the discovery of a fungus
called Cryphonectria parasitica, also known as Chestnut blight, so devastating (Hebard). Importing
of Japanese trees brought this Chestnut blight fungus to North American chestnuts and it had
infected chestnuts throughout America by the early 1900 s. The Chestnut blight had killed over 3.5
billion trees by the 1940 s (Conolly). Today, mere dozens of healthy American Chestnuts live as a
threatened species, while most American Chestnuts grow from the roots of trees already killed by
the Chestnut blight, passing the Chestnut blight fungus to the new growing trees preventing them
from living nearly as long as American Chestnuts used to (Horton).
The Chestnut blight fungus enters through wounds or cracks in the tree and creates cankers on the
trees covered in pychrodia or organs of the fungus that produce spores ... Show more content on

A small insect called the emerald ash borer, which has destroyed over 50 million ash trees
throughout America is popping up all over Colorado (Clotfelter). These trees are important to my
community. Trees absorb pollutants and dust from the air. They provide protection from the harsh
sunlight in Colorado. Being surrounded by trees makes encourages relaxation by reducing stress
levels, lowering blood pressure, and slowing heart rates. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce
oxygen ( Why are Trees so important? ). Trees create a healthier environment to live in, so if the
emerald ash borer spreads it will make my community a less healthy and comfortable place to
Similarities between Martin Luther King s Letter from...
Even the most cursory analysis of Letter From Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King, Jr. and A
Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift reveals glaring differences between the two essays.
Surprisingly, a side by side comparison also yields many similarities between the two works. The
most obvious similarity between the two essays is the overarching theme of the subject matter. In
both essays, the writers address deeply entrenched social injustices. For example, in Letter From
Birmingham Jail, King, in his highly impassioned and evocative style, submits a powerful essay that
addresses racial segregation in the American South during the 1950s and 1960s. In his letter, King
mentions that the brutal history of the American Negro s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of the radical differences between Swift s and King s literary devices and the
forthrightness of their solutions to socially unjust laws and practices, there remain many
similarities between the two essays that need to be explored further. King made several references
to Christian Biblical stories, especially from the Gospels, in Letter From Birmingham Jail . King s
letter takes on a religious, almost grandiose proportion with King likening his quest for racial
equality to a Christian mission: I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the eighth
century prophets left their little villages...I too am compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond
my particular hometown (1). While Swift certainly does not adopt the persona of a religious man in
A Modest Proposal , his essay also contains religious elements, albeit comments made in an
underhanded jest. Swift makes a few jibes at Roman Catholicism, stating that, if his proposal were
implemented, a collateral benefit would be that, due to the higher reproduction rate of Roman
Catholics in Ireland, the kingdom would be made a better place by lessening the number of Papists

Moses and the Burning Bush Essay
Two men are walking to temple. The older man says to the younger man, So, do you know why the
Jewish people aren t voting for President Bush? The younger man replies with an inquisitive No.
Well, says the older man, the last time the Jewish people followed a Bush they wound up wandering
in the Desert.
This recent political joke is in reference to the Exodus story of Moses and the burning bush. As stated
in the bible it reads:
Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father in law, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far
into the wilderness and came to Horev, the mountain of Elohim. The angel of YHVH appeared to
him in a flame of fire out of a bush. He gazed: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the mountains of the central Sinai range, he saw the vision of the burning bush that ordered him,
by God, to return to Egypt and deliver his people from the harsh life of slavery instilled by the
Pharaoh.
The Zohar, supposedly written by the Spanish Jewish Mystic Moses de Leon, presents some
interesting additions to the excerpt from Exodus chapter 3. Several hundred years ago, de Leon
passed around booklets of teachings and tales never heard or seen before by others of his
community. De Leon claimed to others that he had only copied the information from an ancient
book of wisdom written by a well known teacher of the second century who lived in Israel, Rabbi
Shim on son of Yohai. According to de Leon, after Rabbi Shim on s death the book became a
secret and was handed down to only a select few, including himself , and felt that he was to share
the age old secrets by copying portions from the original book and selling them. When a young
man named Isaac son of Samuel heard of the secret midrash teachings of Rabbi Shim on he began
a search for de Leon. After finding deLeon in Valladolid, Spain, Isaac agreed to meet with de
Leon in Avila to view the secret manuscript. However during his journey to Avila, Moses de Leon
fell ill and died. When Isaac heard of de Leon s death, he went to Avila to find
