TOPIC: POSSESSIVE ‘S
ACTIVITY: COPY THE EXPLANATION AND EXEMPLES.

Sometimes we want to show that something belongs to someone, or that two things go together. We use a
special way to do this in English. It's called the genitive case.

Think of it like saying "whose?" or "what belongs to whom?"

Adding 's: We put an apostrophe ( ' ) and an 's' after a person's name or a singular noun. Like this: friend's,
dog's.

1. Example: "This is Mary's book." (The book belongs to Mary.)

2. "This is my dog's ball." (The ball belongs to the dog.)
3. "That is John's house." (The house belongs to John.)
