Instrucciones: The goal of this project is to research a Spanish speaking country and explain the origins and
locations of 7 different people. This project has two parts that are as follows El artculo Choose an interesting news article that addresses an important cultural or historical aspect of your country. It could deal with current or historical events, indigenous customs, cultural practices and traditions such as origins of dance, dialect, food, music, art, holidays or other well known customs. Requirements You will be required to hand in the article, a written summary and present the article to the class on Oct. 7th. Everything can be done in English. You can get 3 points extra credit if both the article and written summary are in Spanish. 1. The article should deal with a specific topic and be at least 1 page in length. It must give a thorough explanation of the topic and/or offer a different perspective. 2. The written summary must be at least 7 sentences and it may be your script for the presentation. 3. In the presentation/explanation of the article, you should state a) The main idea b) Why you chose the article c) What surprised you about the article d) Any similarities to American customs or current events Due Oct. 7th 1. A hard copy of the article 2. Written summary ( a paragraph of at least 7 sentences) 3. 1 minute presentation/explanation of article

La presentacin oral This part of the project integrates everything we have learned in the past two weeks and allows you to demonstrate that you understand the material. Imagine that you and your partner are really from this country. Choose an additional five people (real or imaginary) and describe where you, your partner, and the other people are from (ser) and located (estar). Use your creativity! (Ex: create a dialogue between the people or pretend you are paparazzi reporting on the locations of celebrities, etc) You will give an oral presentation (with visual aid) and hand in a script. Requirements for oral presentation

The entire presentation should be done in Spanish (except for interesting facts) and last no more than 10 minutes. The speaking must be distributed evenly. Each partner speaks for about half of the time. If you make a mistake in speaking, you are allowed to correct it without being penalized! o Conjugation of ser and estar (present tense) Estarsay where pasajes, you, and the other people are located.... En un pasaje ( Ex: Marta est en las montaas) En el norte, sur, oeste, este ( Ej: Marta est en las montaas en el norte.) Sersay where people are from, origins. You, your partner and the other people should be from a REAL city of origin in your country. (Ex: Marta y yo somos de Santiago, Clara es de Santiago.) o Must use at least 10 different vocabulary terms from los terminos de la geografa. (Ex: montaas, capital, lago etc.) They must be REAL geographic landmarks/landscapes of the country. o Create 2 questions: Think of questions you want your audience to ask you. (Ej: De dnde eres t? Dnde est Marta? Dnde estn ellos?) These questions should be written on slips of paper that can be handed out to 3 students in the audience. Point to the student during the presentation when it is their turn to ask the question. o Include 2 interesting or surprising facts about the country: **This may be explained in English.** o Visual Aids: posters, powerpointsuse your creativity!! I will have the projector and smartboard available to you. Your pictures should be creative, colorful, and detailed. Include at least One picture of your pas. One picture/drawing of you, your partner, and your 5 people.
