National Foreword

This Singapore Standard was prepared by the Working Group on Portable Aluminium Ladders set up
by the Technical Committee on Personal Safety and Health under the purview of QSSC.

SS EN 131 consists of the following six parts, under the general title ‘Ladders’:

 Part 1: Terms, types, functional sizes (Identical adoption of EN 131-1:2015)

 Part 2: Requirements, testing, marking (Identical adoption of EN 131-2:2010+A2:2017)

 Part 3: Marking and user instructions (Identical adoption of EN 131-3:2018)

 Part 4: Single or multiple hinge-joint ladders (Identical adoption of EN 131-4:2007)

 Part 6: Telescopic ladders (Identical adoption of EN 131-6:2019)

 Part 7: Mobile ladders with platform (Identical adoption of EN 131-7:2013)

This standard is identical with EN 131-7:2013, “Ladders – Part 7: Mobile ladders with platform”,
published by European Committee for Standardisation, CEN, Avenue Marnix 17, B-1000 Brussels.

NOTE 1 – EN 131-5: Accessories for ladders is not available for adoption as CEN has terminated the
development of this part.

NOTE 2 – Where appropriate, the words “European Standard” are read as “Singapore Standard”.

NOTE 3 – Reference to European Standards are replaced by applicable Singapore Standards.

NOTE

1. Singapore Standards (SSs) and Technical References (TRs) are reviewed periodically to keep abreast of technical

either amendments or revisions. Where SSs are deemed to be stable, i.e. no foreseeable changes in them, they will be

This document (EN 131-7:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 93 “Ladders”, the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by January 2014.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent

1 Scope
This European Standard defines terms and specifies the general design characteristics of mobile ladders with
platform. It applies to mobile ladders with a working platform, with a maximum area of 1 m2, and a maximum
platform height of 5 m, to be used only by one person at the time. The maximum load is 150 kg which includes
a maximum combined load of the user and any tools, equipment and materials

It does not apply to portable ladders according to EN 131-1, to portable ladders according to EN 131-4, to
portable ladders for fire service use according to EN 1147, to loft ladders according to EN 14975, to step
stools according to EN 14183, to Stairs, stepladders and guard-rails according to EN ISO 14122-3 and to
insulating ladders according to EN 50528.
