PA-34-200 Seneca I Emergency Checklist

Engine Failure (feathering) and Unfeathering Engine Fire


Fuel Management Single Engine Operation
- Emergency checklist should only be used with crossreference to Piper PA-34-200 Seneca I POH.
- The procedures are general and to be used only with pilot’s discration.
- Memory items are in BOLD CAPITALS

Engine Failure Engine fire inflight


Notes: 1, FUEL SELECTORS Off
- If circumstances permit, the pilot may elect to attempt 2, THROTTLE Affected side Close
to restore power prior to feathering. 3, PROPELLER Affected side Feather
- The propellers can be feathered only while engine is 4, MIXTURE Affected side Idle cut off

4, MAGNETOS Select L or R only
(a) If engine has not started:
5, ALTERNATE AIR On
1, MIXTURE Affected side Idle cut off
Feathering procedure:
1, AIRSPEED Maintain minimum 90 Mph(79Kias) 2, THROTTLE Affected side Open
2, DIRECTIONAL CONTROL Maintain 3, STARTER Affected side Turn
3, MIXTURE Forward
4, PROPELLERS Forward (b) If engine has started already:
5, THROTTLES Forward 1, Continue operating the affected engine
6, FLAPS Retract In either case stated in (a) and (b), if the fire continues
7, GEAR Retract longer than a few seconds, the fire should be extinguishe
8, ELECTRIC FUEL PUMPS On by best available external means. If external fire
9, INOPERATIVE ENGINE Identify extinguishing is in use:
10, THROTTLE INOP. ENGINE Retard to verify 1, FUEL SELECTOR VALVES Off
11, PROPELLER INOP. ENGINE Feather
2, MIXTURES Idle cut off

14, 5◦ BANK TOWARD OP. ENGINE Maintain Crossfeed single engine operation
15, Electric fuel pump inop. engine Off Notes: - Use crossfeed in level flight only
16, Magnetos inop. engine Off - No crossfeeding allowed for landing
17, Cowl flaps inop. engine Close - Crossfeed procedure in the Simulator is different!
18, Alternator inop. engine Off Read this checlist carefully!

If engine started successfully: 1, Fuel tanks BOTH On

3, Crossfeed Operating engine side select
4, Non feeding tank Electric fuel pump off
(Except in case of engine driven pump failure, electric fuel
pump on operating engine side must be used)
