Moldova reports higher unemployment rate in 2010 The number of the unemployed increased by 11,000 people in 2010 against 2009 according to data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS). About the 62 per cent of the unemployed were men and the same percentage were people from urban areas. BNS specialists said that more than a half of them have some job experience. The average duration of unemployment was 13-14 months in 2009. In 2010, about 311, 000 people leaved the country to work abroad. Most of them were men and people from rural areas. Moldova has the lowest wages in Europe Moldova has the lowest wages in Europe. According to Adevarul Moldova, the minimum wages are twice less than in Romania and Bulgaria and 20-25 times less than in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg. In Moldova, the minimum wage is $92 (1,100 Moldovan Lei). Belarus and Ukraine are also among the states with the lowest income rates in Europe. The salary of a nurse varies between $100 and $150 a month while the salary of a teacher goes below $200 per month. A recent graduate who would like to get employed in the governmental system would be paid $67 as an entry-level employee. That is why a lot of people go abroad for jobs. Moldova ranks the 81st place as having the most favorable business environment According to an annual report organized by the World Bank, Moldova ranked the 81st place in the top of the countries with the most favorable business environment. Therefore, Moldova went up by 18 positions comparing to 2011. The report shows that the country has significantly advanced in realms like: launch of new businesses, issuance of credits, contracts' fulfillment and regulation of insolvency procedures. These realms are the main providers of new jobs, strengthening the Moldovas economic development.
