Section A – [40 Marks]

Attempt all questions. Each question carries 2½ marks.

1. 1. If the sum of the 4th and 9th terms of an A.P. is 34 and their
difference is 10, find the first term and the common difference.
2. 2. A person deposits ₹600 per month in an RD account for 2 years at
7.5% p.a. Find the total interest earned.
3. 3. Prove that x - 1 is a factor of x³ - 3x² + 3x - 1 and hence factorise
the expression.
4. 4. Find the sum of the first 8 terms of a G.P. where the 2nd term is 6
and the 5th term is 48.
5. 5. Solve: x² + (a - b)x - ab = 0 and find the roots in terms of a and b.
6. 6. If A = [[x, 2], [3, y]] and A² = [[19, 16], [24, 19]], find the values of x
and y.
7. 7. An item is sold at ₹7080 inclusive of 18% GST. Find the base price
and CGST.
8. 8. If a : b = 5 : 6 and b : c = 9 : 11, find the ratio a : b : c and reduce to
lowest terms.
9. 9. If the sum of n terms of an A.P. is 5n² + 2n, find the A.P.
10. 10. A person deposits ₹750/month for 2½ years in an RD account.
Rate of interest is 6.25% p.a. Find total interest earned.
11. 11. Using the Remainder Theorem, verify whether x - 3 is a factor
of 2x³ - 5x² + x - 6.
12. 12. The 3rd and 6th terms of a G.P. are 36 and 972. Find the first
term and the common ratio.
13. 13. Solve the quadratic equation: 6x² - 5x - 6 = 0 by completing the
square method.
14. 14. Find x and y if: [[2x - 3, 4], [5, y + 2]] = [[7, 4], [5, 9]]
15. 15. A TV is sold at ₹28,560 including 12% GST. Find price before
GST and total GST collected by the government.
16. 16. If a : b = 2 : 3 and b : c = 6 : 5, verify if a : c = 4 : 5.

Section B – [40 Marks]

Attempt any four questions. Each question carries 10 marks.

17. 17. The 3rd and 8th terms of an A.P. are 12 and 32 respectively.
Find the A.P. and sum of first 25 terms.
18. 18. A person deposits ₹1200 every month for 3 years in an RD
account at 6.75% p.a. simple interest. Calculate the interest and
maturity value.
19. 19. Using the Factor Theorem, factorise: x³ - 7x² + 14x - 8
20. 20. If the 2nd and 5th terms of a G.P. are 6 and 48 respectively,
find the 10th term and sum of first 10 terms.
21. 21. (a) Show that the roots of the equation ax² + bx + c = 0 are real
and equal if b² = 4ac
