(b) Pin the specimen ventral side upper most, dissect the specimen to display the
alimentary canal trace for the:
(i) Blood vessels that supply blood to the organs responsible for absorption of digested
food to the blood circulation, storage of undigested food and left lung.
(ii) (ii) Blood vessels that carry blood away from the liver, organ responsible for filtration
of blood and left hind limb.

(iii) Draw represent your dissection for part(i) and (ii)without the stomach and with heart
pinned anteriorly. (23marks)

2. You are provided with specimens. W, X, Y &Z and solution T. specimens X, Y & Z are
at different stages of growth.
(a) Peal one half of specimen W and cut the pealed half into small pieces. Crush them into fine
paste using a motor and the pestle. Transfer the paste into a clean beaker and add 20cm3 of
distilled water. Mix well and leave to stand for 1 minute. Filter to obtain an extract. Heat
the extract to a temperature 65oc, leave to cool and name it extracts W. Carryout tests
indicated in the table below on the extract, record your test, observations and conclusions.

(b) Obtain 10 seedlings from each of the sample’s X, Y and Z, remove radicle if present, crush
them separately to obtain fine pastes, add 14cm3 of distilled water, mix well then leave to stand
for 12 minutes. Filter to obtain only the clear part and transfer into separate test tubes, label them
accordingly.

Now obtain three test tubes and label them 1-3, to all add 1cm3 of W, to test tube 1 add 1cm3 of X,
to test tube 2 add 1cm3 of Y and to test tube 3 add 1cm3 of solution Z.

Table 2 shows a summary of the test tubes and their contents.

Incubate all the test tubes in a water bath maintained at 35oC-40oC for 55 minutes shaking
regularly, after record your observations and conclusions in the table below (03marks).
