Theme: Self-development
The mission of the theme is to created the new generation who have the leadership, ability and talents, and having the innovation and creative minded thinking. The objective of self development is to expose students to the aggressive and challenging activity that requires courage, tenacity of mind and physical strength. The second is to Increase self-confidence in students while doing everything. The third is fostering the spirit of cooperation among students of different races and religions. The last objective of self developments is established good relationship between teachers and students in academic, sports and culture. The overall of the self development is to produce a generation that emphasizes co-curriculum activities to have an active mind and healthy body.
1ST activity (Ice breaking) Steps: 1. Students are asked to line up in the name of the start of the letters A through the letter Z. 2. Students are required to communicate with other partner so that they become more familiar with each other without feeling embarrassed to ask. 3. Students are asked to line up in groups according to the number of children in the family. If the student is the second child in the family, the student
is required to find other friends who are also the second child. 4. Students are also required to seek other partner, who also was born in the same country.
Objective: - To help assess the students speaking Strength and Weaknesses. - To tell others something about yourself. - To easily warm up the group with fun and laughter. - To help the students to know each other more better. - To foster goodwill among students.
PHILOSOPHY Knowing well each other, and can cooperate easily with others.
2ND ACTIVITY (Whispered and remember) STEPS: 1. The teachers will whispered at the first student with the 10 artist's name 2. Students are required to whisper to friends 3. Friends would whisper to a friend the other hand until the last student. 4. Then last student will tell again the10 name of the artist to the teacher, so that the teacher would make sure that the last student receive the same information OBJECTIVE -
Increase student retention and focus on each word presented. To teach students to believe in themself more than anyone else. To train students to listen better when someone is speaking.
PHILOSOPHY Dont easily trust others, and must concentrate to the instruction that has given.
3RD activity (Money and the buyers) STEPS: 1. Student are divided into group 2. Each group represents a value of money, such as first group represent RM1, second group represent RM2, third group represent for 20 cent. 3. Then, each group has 1 buyer. When the teacher want RM3.20, the buyers need to asked each group to get RM3.20.
4. The group will asked buyers to do something such as singing or dancing, after that only the buyers can get the money, if not the buyers will get punishment.
Materials: money
OBJECTIVE To help students to communicate with others without feeling shy. To encourages students to ask people when they need something. To make student feel confident and comfortable when communicate with others.
4TH ACTIVITY (GOOD SOLUTION) STEPS: 1. Students are required to assemble in their respective groups. 2. Students are given a number of tools, 80 pieces of A4 paper, yarn, and chopstick. 3. They are asked to construct the building using the tools provided. 4. They are required to build the building based on their creativity.
OBJECTIVE -To trained students to think in creative and able to solve problems. -To trained students to cooperate with one another in groups.
PHILOSOPY Work as a team to find a better solution and able to solving problem in any situation.
5TH ACTIVITY (Pinball activity) Steps: 1. Divide into group, each group 2 person 2. Arrange the pinball according to the placement. 3. One of the members should stand outside of the field, and other one inside the field, tied with cloth 4. The person who stand outside the field(student A) will lead the one inside the field(Student B). 5. Student B have to listen to the instruction that given by the student A. 6. The student B should not step the ball until the end. 7. If the student step the ball they will be punish. Material: pinball
Objective Work together in pair Focused and listen carefully to the instruction. Trust each other, especially the one who lead.
Conclusion
This self development theme contributed to students growth in academic and cocurriculum. This camp can also increased student self-confidence, courage, and spirit of cooperation within the group; tolerate each other, thinking with broader, creative and accessible solving problems and issues opinions and their ideas. This camp is able to strengthen the relationship between students and students, as well as students and teachers. Students will also be able to recognize each other better and to improve physical strength and physical emotional spiritual students themselves.
