Auto Breaking and Entering
March 2012
Activity Summary:
There were thirty-six (36) Auto B&Es reported in March 2012. There were twenty-eight (28) Auto B&Es
reported during the same timeframe in 2011. This is a 29% increase from 2011 to 2012.
The zone with the highest number of incidents is West 2 with sixteen (16), or 44%.
The reporting track with the highest number of incidents is A1 with fifteen (15), or 43%.
Twenty-four (24), or 67%, of the incidents took place at residential locations.
Twenty-three (23), or 64%, of the incidents involved unforced entry.
Thirteen (13), or 36%, of the incidents were discovered on a Sunday and twelve (12), or 33%, were
discovered between the hours of 0800 to 1159.
Twenty-eight (28) incidents are open for further investigation and eight (8) have been closed with leads
exhausted.
Historically, HPD has an average of 25 Auto B&Es during the month of March with a current threshold of 15 to 35.
This March, we exceeded the threshold with 36 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for April:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of April is 31 plus or minus 9. By the end of April, there is a 68%
chance HPD will have received between 22 and 40 reported Auto B&Es.
