FNBE 0125 - INTRODUCTION TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

ASSIGNMENT 1 (Group 5% and Individual 5%)


[Value: 10% of total marks for this module] Objectives: 1. To introduce the scope of work handled by professionals and sub-professionals in their respective professions both in the public and the private sectors in Malaysia. 2. To enable students to develop an understanding of the building team, its organization, their duties, responsibilities and the inter-relationship within which they will seek employment, career progression or further study.

1. To learn about the general overview of construction industry from mankind perspective derived from different point of views. 2. To assess the students understanding on the general construction process from the sketch plan to completion of a building and introduce the scope of work handled by the players involved. 3. To develop graphic skills in summarizing the information such as (but not limited to) definition, construction process, team players, classification, stages in construction etc.
Task 1 (GROUP)

1. To summarize lecture 1 and illustrate your understanding in any form of graphics presentation. -e.g mind mapping, flow chart etc. 2. You are encouraged to incorporate additional information as elaboration or explanation of information and presentation. 3. You may use any techniques of illustration and graphic such as to enhance the creativity and attractiveness of your presentation

4. All presentation must be hand written and hand drawn. Any submission with printing and sticking will not be accepted. Task 2 (INDIVIDU)

1. To create a collage illustrating a particular CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND CONTEXT WITHIN which you are concerned of. For example (but not limited to): - CI and Me - CI and Community - CI vs Nature - CI and Facilities - CI and global warming - CI and Environment - Etc 2. Format : Printed images/photos, minimize handwriting/text
Format of Submission 1. GROUP : A3 size board/120gm cartridge paper illustrating CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY 2. INDIVIDU : A3 size board/120gm cartridge paper illustrating CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND CONTEXT WITHIN Assessment Work will be assessed based on: 1. Accuracy of content 2. Clarity of ideas conveyed through visual presentation 3. Interesting elements, Creativity and Aesthetic value
Date of submission : Wednesday, 2nd. May 2012 before 2pm
