Net Metering Application Form 1

The ComEd Net Metering program allows residential and commercial customers who generate electricity using renewable sources like solar, wind, biomass or hydroelectric up to 2,000 kW for their own use to sell excess power back to the grid. Eligible customers must submit an application to enroll. If approved, they will need to sign interconnection and net metering agreements and have an approved meter installed. ComEd’s Net Metering Program

The ComEd Net Metering program is available to residential or commercial customers


who own or operate an on-site eligible renewable electric generator of up to 2,000 kW
that generates electricity for the customer’s own use. Eligible renewable electric
generators include those powered by solar electric energy (e.g. photovoltaic), wind,
dedicated crops grown for electricity generation, anaerobic digestion of livestock or food
processing waste, fuel cells or microturbines powered by renewable fuels, or
hydroelectric energy.

Net Metering will provide a customer credit for the excess generated energy that flows
onto the distribution system according to the terms of ComEd’s Net Metering tariff, Rider
POGNM – Parallel Operation of Retail Customer Generating Facilities with Net

Net Metering Program Requirements


Application – A Net Metering Application Form must be submitted to ComEd to enroll in
the Net Metering Program. The attached Application form on page 2 of this document
must be completed and mailed or faxed to ComEd at the address or fax number noted at
the bottom of page 2.

If ComEd is not your electricity supplier, you must contact your electricity supplier
directly for details about your electricity supplier’s net metering program, and to get an
enrollment form. Your electricity supplier will work directly with ComEd.

After receiving a completed Application, ComEd will review the Application for program
eligibility and mail a letter to you within 10 business days notifying you whether the
Application for Net Metering service is incomplete, approved, or denied.

Upon approval, you will be asked to sign an Interconnection Agreement and a Net
Metering Agreement to participate in Net Metering. ComEd will place your electric
service account under Rider POGNM. This includes the determination and installation of
the appropriate type of electric meter.

Instructions for Completing Section 3

Total Nameplate Capacity of the Eligible Net Metering Facility (kW)


Photovoltaic systems: The nameplate capacity is the smaller of:
a. The photovoltaic module wattage multiplied by the number of
modules in the system, divided by 1,000 watts/kilowatt
Or:
b. The AC power rating of the inverter in watts, divided by 1,000
watts/kilowatt

Wind turbine systems, Reciprocating engines, Fuel cells:


The rated power in watts divided by 1,000 watts/kilowatt

Type of Facility
Prime Mover: The type of system that will produce the electric power. The term
“generator” is used to generically describe a system that produces electric power.
Fuel Type: The energy source for the generator.

NOTE: Please complete a separate Net Metering Application Form for each facility
type installed.

Terms of This Application

This Application must be completed in its entirety to be considered for Net Metering
service from ComEd under the provisions of Rider POGNM – Parallel Operation of
Retail Customer Generating Facilities with Net Metering (Rider POGNM).

Any changes or modification of the generating equipment, such as an addition of


generating capacity to the Facility, addition of photovoltaic modules to the existing array,
or replacement of generating equipment, will require the submission of a new Net
Metering Application Form.

Applicant must also submit an Interconnection Application form to ComEd. Operation of


an Eligible Net Metering Facility and service under the provisions of Rider POGNM is
not allowed until such time the Facility has been approved for interconnection by
ComEd, a Certificate of Completion from ComEd has been issued authorizing such
interconnection and all prerequisites of service, as stated in Rider POGNM, have been
met.
