Physics Laboratory Report Guidelines

The Lab Report should consist of the following parts, and should be submitted in the following order: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Title page Data Sheet Guide Questions Problems (if any) Graphs (if any) Analysis Conclusion

Title Page The title page can either be handwritten or computerized. Data Sheet The data sheet is handwritten. Every group member should have a copy of the group data written on the data sheet. This data sheet must have the signature of the instructor at the end of the experiment. Guide Questions Answers to the guide questions are computerized. Copy the problem from your Laboratory Manual and write your answer below the question. Problems Problems and solution to problems can be handwritten or computerized. Graphs All graphs should be computerized. Do not forget to include the title of the graph, the labels on the x- and y- axes. Also, all graphs should have an interpretation below it.

Analysis Analysis is a complete overview of the experiment, supported by data that you have obtained from the experiment. It can be also called Analysis of Data. Errors and sources of errors should also be discussed in this part. Your analysis should be computerized, and should be at least 1 page long. Conclusion Conclusion should summarize the experiment, highlighting the key and relevant points. In this part, include if the objectives of the experiment are met. Your conclusion should be computerize, and should be at least half-page long.

Lab Report Format For the parts that are computerized use the following font, font size and margins: Font: Book Antiqua, Bookman Old Style, Cambria Font Size: 11 Margins: 1 all sides (or the Normal custom setting in Microsoft Word)

Lab Report Submission All laboratory reports should be submitted before 8am, one week after the experiment. Late laboratory reports will have corresponding point deductions. Softcopies of the laboratory report will not be accepted. Laboratory report pages should be stapled on the upper left corner of your paper. Take note of the minimum requirement for the analysis and conclusion parts of your report. However, there is no limit on the maximum number of pages that you can do in the analysis and conclusion.
