Two shadowed figures moved across the barren landscape, both in a hurried mood. Not far behind them was a group of soldiers, equipped with rifles and body armor. The two shadowed figures were gifted individuals, and the soldiers pursuing them had been ordered to bring them in for experimental purposes. One of the figures was a male of Chinese descent, the other a Caucasian female. Both were of average height and stature, and with black hair. The male turned abruptly, disappearing completely. The female took this as a signal and took off into the air, flapping the wings that retracted from her back, and soaring behind the soldiers. The male went from soldier to soldier, disarming them and taking their weapons while the soldiers blindly tried to locate the invisible attacker. The female took the other soldiers up into the air and dropped them back to the ground from above. Suddenly, the male appeared and convulsed as a surge of energy shot through his body. He dropped to the ground as another male landed in the sand in front of him, wielding a high tech rifle. He hit a button on the side of the gun, and a thick rope protruded from the secondary barrel of the gun, wrapping around the females wrists and ankles and binding her to the ground. The attacker stood over the male, gun ready to fire. Say goodbye to your girl. He threatened and fired. The bullet stopped in midair and was thrown into the sand. The attacker turned, seeing an elder man standing with his hand up. Leave now and you wont be harmed. The elder man said but the attacker laughed and shot another rope at the man, who shook his head and sent

a psychic wave from his hand, cutting through the rope and rendering it useless. The attacker was sent reeling backwards by a telekinetic push, and fled from the scene quickly. The elder man cut the binds and helped the two up. That was pretty impressive. The male said thanking the elder man. You two put on quite a show yourselves. Do you need a place to stay? He asked and after confirmation, led the two safely away. The elder man led them to a landing a few miles away where a jet was waiting for them. The pilot greeted the two newcomers excitedly. She had a perfect face, one that looked like it had been created by angels, and flowing dark brown hair. These are Jeremy Lin and Amanda Welker. The elder man introduced them to the girl, Elaina Hoeppner and himself, Steve Sobel. They shook her hand and Amanda and Sobel took their seats in the back of the jet. The jet was spacious, with eight seats and two benches for additional seating. Jeremy took the copilot seat after announcing he had flying experience. They arrived at a large mansion shortly after, and at this point Jeremy and Amanda were exhausted. Ill explain everything and give you a tour tomorrow, but for you now you should get some rest. Elaina will take you to your rooms. Sobel said and they gratefully nodded. The next morning Jeremy woke up to the sound of a large explosion that shook the mansion. He jumped out of bed and rushed towards the sound, to find Sobel and Amanda calmly looking through a big glass window. Im sorry if you were startled, Elaina is going through a training simulation. Come, Ill give you a tour. Ive already taken Amanda around. Sobel said and led Jeremy around the mansion, explaining the mansion was built by him recently for gifted people like Jeremy where they could learn to control their abilities. You, Amanda, and Elaina are

my first three students. Sobel stated and Jeremy nodded in understanding as they headed back towards the training simulator. This is where you can train to hone your skills and harness your powers. We call it the X Room. Why were you so quick to accept us? We couldve been dangerous. Jeremy admitted. Another one of my powers is telepathy. I could read your thoughts from miles away, which is what lead me to you in the first place, but I didnt need to use my abilities to sense that you have a good heart. Youre a gifted individual Jeremy; dont ever let anyone tell you differently. Sobel said encouragingly. So do we have codenames or something? Jeremy joked and Sobel nodded. Weve decided Amanda will be known as Bluebird, and Elaina is Raven. Im known as Dr. Premonition. Sobel replied. So what does that make me? Jeremy asked intently and the doctor thought for a minute. From this moment on, you will be known as Ghost. He replied and Amanda nodded in agreement. I have matters to take care of elsewhere, I will return soon. The doctor stated and left the mansion. The three talked for a time, getting to know each other quickly and sharing stories of their childhoods growing up with powers. The mansion shook again, but this time everybody turned to look, knowing Raven wasnt in the X Room anymore. A sound like a timer rang through the halls of the mansion for a few seconds, before an explosion took out the wall nearest them. Debris fluttered the room, as the attacker from the previous night stepped into the room holding two pistols. Ghost was the first one to climb out of the rubble, and checked to see that Raven and Bluebird were ok. He stood up to face the attacker, who cocked the pistols, aiming towards the three students. Ghost went invisible, slipping towards the man quietly. The man sprayed bullets across the room, but Ghost was too quick and dodged them with ease. The man holstered his pistols and threw out a

sonic charge, which shook the room and revealed Ghost, knocking him onto his back. Ghost charged in, tackling the man to the ground and coming down with an elbow. The man blocked it, tossing Ghost off of him and into the wall. He grabbed Ghost, and powerfully kicked him backwards across the room. Pulling out a large knife, the man jumped through the air to finish the vulnerable Ghost lying on the ground. Just as the blade was about to pierce Ghost, the man was pushed back by sonic energy as a piercing scream filled the air. Bluebird was up, and had used her ability to control sound waves. The force of the scream and the collision with the wall knocked the attacker senseless, and it appeared as though they had triumphed. As Bluebird helped Ghost to his feet, a second man hovered through the destroyed wall and floated above them. You fools, where is Steve? The man demanded, but Raven was up, and notched an arrow in her bow, skillfully firing it at the man. The arrow was stopped before hitting the man, and turned around, soaring back towards Raven. Raven rolled out of the way, readying another arrow. The man sent a massive telekinetic wave through the room, sending the three of them backwards into the far wall. Im not going to ask again, where is the doctor? Im right here, leave them alone. Sobel stated stepping into the way and throwing the man backwards with a telekinetic push. The two telekinetics battled fiercely, neither gaining an advantage on the other. The battle was taken outside, and the three students watched along intently. Suddenly, the attacking man dropped to the ground in pain, as Sobel used his telepathy to get inside the mans thoughts. Leave now

Illusionist, leave us be. The man turned and fled the scene, his soldier
following close behind. That was amazing. Bluebird said and the three cheered Sobel on. Who was that? Ghost asked as the four headed back inside the pile of debris. He calls himself the Illusionist, and he

has telekinetic powers that rival mine. Ive known him for many years, and he wasnt always like this. Sobel explained. What did he want with us? Ghost inquired. He wants all gifted individuals, or GIs as he calls them to live together without humans. He wants a human free world where GIs can rule with him as their leader. I and he dont see eye to eye on that matter. I believe we can peacefully live with humans. Sobel stated and the three nodded in understanding and began clearing the debris while Sobel rested in his chambers. Many miles away from the mansion a young man fled his burning home, while the screams of his parents rang in his ears. Tears flooded down his face and he fell to the ground, the flames still bursting from his fingertips. He eventually passed out from exhaustion, but not before the area around him was entirely in flames, burning into oblivion.
