APRIL 26, 2011

As well as this being a great moment for national celebration, I think we also have to remember that this is two young people who love each other who have made this announcement, who are looking forward to their wedding, and we must give them plenty of space to think about the future and what they are about to do.

Countdown To The Royal Wedding

By Caroline Walker

With the royal wedding a mere three days away, the world is abuzz as millions anxiously await the union of Prince William and his soon-to-be wife, Kate Middleton. The couple met in 2001 while they were both studying at the University of St. Andrews, and shared residence in the town for the next two years thereafter. The pair are fteenth cousins, and possibly twelfth cousins once removed. The wedding will take place on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey, which has been a venue for recent royal weddings, as it seats nearly 2000 people.

Two choirs, one orchestra, and one fanfare team are to perform, and they are: Westminster Abbey Choir, Chapel Royal Choir, London Chamber Orchestra, and a fanfare team of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. The Queen will hold the quaint, outdoor lunch reception at Buckingham Palace following the ceremony. To follow the luncheon, Prince William will host a private dinner with dancing for the couples families and close friends.

Stand Up For Womens Health Rally

By Katie Spencer

On April 7th, Planned Parenthood joined with Senate and House leaders, celebrities, activists, and allies from all over the country to lead a Stand Up for Womens Health Rally. Under assault by a Republican-controlled House which seeks a strip away access to family planning funding guaranteed by Title X, thousands of womens health supporters joined together on Capitol Hill to carry the message that womens health is non-negotiable. Anti-choice forces in Congress are determined to roll back womens access to reproductive health care. From eliminating the Title X family planning program and funding for Planned Parenthood to taking away private insurance coverage for abortion to letting emergency rooms turn their backs on pregnant women who need lifesaving abortions, the attacks have been coming fast and furious. your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun, as well as articial sunlight. Liz Johnson, 23 of Texas, said she loves how the sun hat has become a fashion statement this season. Finally I can be fashionable and healthy, and its something I nd really lovely, she said. As the rays shine down on you during the dog days of summer, dont forget to throw on your sun hat- oppy or short- and lather on the sunscreen.

Here Comes The Sun

By Meredith Leigh

As you stow away those sweaters and scarves, there is one item that will remain during the warm months - the hat. Or, more precisely, the sun hat. Dress it up, dress it down. Wear it when you ride your bike to town. The sun hat has been a staple down all the runways this season, but not only is it fashionable. A sun hat can protect your skin from the harmful UV rays that bear down on those hot summer days. As skin cancer becomes a more prominent health threat among women everywhere, the sun hat is a simple solution for those worried about aging or other effects. Dr. Angie Stall, a dermatologist from New York City, said young women between the ages of 16 and 28 are becoming more prone to skin cancers, most likely because of tanning beds or the lack of proper sun protection outdoors. More young women have been showing up in my ofce with skin cancers and rapid aging, she said. I cannot stress how important it is to protect

FRANTIC FOR FEATHERS

By Jennifer Connolly

Feathered headdresses probably make you think of traditional Native American chiefs or even the Disney movie, Pocahontas, right? Chances are that you never foresaw this style becoming one of the biggest fashion trends of the 21st century. We certainly didnt either, but recent hipsters have proven otherwise as the new fashionable hair feathers have become one of the most trendy hair accessory across the country, especially on college campuses. No one really knows exactly how or when these became the new thing but all we know is that that it is certainly what these feathers have become, the new it item to have in your hair. These feather hair extensions have recently been in high demand, as they have become more and more popular. One of the most appealing things about these feathers is that they can be as noticeable or as discrete as each individual user desires. They are offered in nearly

every color from neon pinks and oranges, to more natural browns and blondes to blend in more with the hair. After being threaded into the hair and clamped with a metal bead, these feathers guarantee about six to eight weeks of wear in the hair and can be washed and styled like any other strand of hair. So how does one go about getting in on this new trend? They are now being sold on several websites, such as http:// www.nefeatherheads.com or even at kiosks in local malls. Do you that that youll go frantic for feathers? Or do you think this trend will die as fast as it started? Write in and tell us what you think!
