INFORMATION SHEET ABOUT UP OPEN UNIVERSITY LEARNING AND TESTING CENTERS As a new student of the UP Open University, you

need to know where you can transact business pertaining to your studies. While most processes and services such as registration, tutorials, submission of assignments and library services can be done online, you are still advised to go to the UPOU learning and/or testing center nearest you for more information and announcements. The UP Open University Learning Center (UPOULC) serves as the universitys presence in your area. This is where UPOU students take their proctored examinations (if so designed by your faculty in charge) or do activities such as enrollment, submission of assignments and the like. General Orientation for new students and occasional face-to-face study sessions are also done in these centers. Learning Centers also provide a limited library service. Information about UPOU and the programs/course offerings, scholarship programs available, etc. is also disseminated in the area through the UPOU Learning Center. Students under a UPOU Testing Center may email the UPOU Learning Center assigned to them for academic and student-related concerns. There are two ways by which proctored exams at UPOU are administered: a) through an accredited Testing Center, usually the Philippine Consulate abroad, with a designated proctor/examiner; and b) through online, following a set of procedures to ensure the integrity of the exam process. Students who plan to go abroad while in the middle of the course, and would likely take the examination outside the country should email [email protected]. The Virtual Learning Center (VLC) should be informed at least one month before the scheduled exam to ensure successful examination arrangements.
