ROLE OF RAJASTHAN TOURISM IN INDIAN ECONOMY


Tourism has increased employment in the hospitality sector. Tourism accounts for 8% of the states product As per the present data available from the Ministry of Tourism, Rajasthan occupies the 4th position (with 5% share of the total domestic tourists) and 5th position (with 10.5 % share of the total foreign tourists) According to a survey, about 620,000 foreign and 7 million domestic tourists visited Rajasthan in the year 2011 Rajasthan contributes about 11.2 per cent and 3.3 per cent share in India's foreign and domestic tourist arrivals respectively The Rajasthan government has brought down the luxury tax from 10% to 8% to boost the tourism industry of Rajasthan In fact in terms of economy, tourism is the third significant sector next to agriculture and industry
