What is an Integer?
An Integer a whole number. It can be either negative or positive

Putting Integers in Order


Putting Integers in order is simple Look at the number line below. When you think about the negative numbers that seem like theyre bigger, you should think about it like its going away farther from zero. So, think as if it is opposite day with the negatives.

Adding Integers
Positives
Add normally as you would have any way

(with LIKE signs)

Negatives
Add normally as you would have any way, but add a negative sign Remember its just going down away from zero.

3+3=6

-7+-4=-11

Adding Integers

(with DIFFERENT signs)

Think of this as a normal subtraction equation. Then, find if there is more negatives or positives in the equation. Finally put the sign that had more.

-23+8=-15

Subtracting Integers
The first kind of equation:

-3-3
You can think of this as 3+-3, using the stick-stick technique.

The second kind of equation

9-(-6)
Using the stick-stick technique, you can change the minus and negative sign into a positive signs.

You change to + and vice versa

-3-3=-6

9-(-6)=-15

Subtraction Problem with integer Tiles


You can Subtract an integers with tiles, with zero pairs. You must create an equal amount of negatives as positives and vice-versa. The Positives can now be canceled out Now count the leftover positives/negatives. You now have your answer

Subtraction with Number line

First you must plot the first number on the line. Next, you must subtract the how many spaces from the first point.

Multiplying/Dividing Integers (With LIKE signs)


First take note of this:

Once you have taken note this you can multiply as you would normally and put the correct sign

A Real Life Example


Integers are used in many real-life problems. Things like: temperature, or debt Jack, Mark, and Heath are at their favorite Pizza Parlor. They order 9 pizzas. The debt for each pizza is $-3. How much is the debt (without taxes) of the total amount? You write out 9 X (-3), because -3 for the debt and it is -3 in all 9 pizzas. The multiplied answer 27 and add the correct sign. The final answer is-27

Irvin Aryan Safavi was born in October 23, 2000 in Greenbrae, California. His parents Max and Sherry Safavi thought he was the most amazing son ever (I mean whats not to like about him?!?). He and his family shortly moved to Tiburon after his birth. As he grew up he attended Reed Elementary School, to Bel Aire School, and Del Mar Middle School. He currently attends that school to this day. He has one Sister named Crystal. And a Grandma named Ashraf. He is the most amazing person on earth!
