The operations and projects intersect with each other at different point of time

Some projects may contribute to the ongoing operations as well ; examples include :
Developing a new product or service that is added to an organizations product line to be marketed and sold; Installing products or services that will require ongoing support Internal projects that will affect the structure , staffing levels or culture of an organization , or Developing , acquiring , or enhancing an operational departments information system

Operations are on going and produce same products , service or results.

Operational work does not stop and continue to support organizations goals
There are some common things in operations and projects: Performed by individuals Limited by constraints, including resource constraints

Operations are functions in organizations which delivers same product or do the same work with the same people and same scope ; for an infinite time. Projects and operations intersect with each other At phase closure Modifications in the product Improving operational efficiency or product development Until divestment of the operations at the end of the product life cycle

1.6 Role of a Project Manager


An Authorized Person assigned by organization to achieve project objectives.

Key responsibilities of project manager includes but not limited to following :


Planning the project and developing the all required plan including project management plan , Ensuring that the project remains on track, Managing project risks , and

Keeping all of the stakeholders updated about the project through project reporting and metrics

PMO is a function for central management and coordination of projects The responsibilities and structure of PMO depends on organizational needs.

PMO can operate in different modes but generally it can be classified as :

Developing and implementing project management best practices , methodologies and standards Developing process assets to support the implemented standards and methodologies Monitoring compliance Coordinating communication amongst project Project reporting to senior leadership

Execution PMO
Owing and managing resources across projects PMO responsible for the success of ALL projects run under PMO
