BCG Matrix

The BCG Matrix provides a framework for allocating resources across business units by comparing units based on their relative market share and market growth rate. It maps units to four quadrants - Stars, Cash Cows, Question Marks, and Dogs. Stars have high share in high growth markets and require continued investment. Cash Cows have high share in low growth markets and generate cash. Question Marks have low share in high growth markets and require investment to achieve leadership. Dogs have low share in low growth markets and should be withdrawn from or nursed to health. The matrix aims to balance cash flows and the product lifecycle stages of units.
