Refers to patents, design, technical specifications, and other tangible items. Refers to management, organization & administration of technical processes.

Nepalese Science & Technology System


Science & Technology (S&T) was considered

necessary determinant for industrial & economic development during Fifth Plan. At First, National Council for Science & Technology (NCST) developed under National Planning Commission in 1976. Secondly, Royal Nepal Academy for Science & Technology (ROAST) established in 1982. Thirdly, Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) in 1996.

Science & Technology Policy


Adopted Science & Technology (S&T) policy in 1989 with

objective to;

i. Development of Technologies & services for priority areas of socioeconomic development. ii. Fulfillment of peoples basic needs iii. Qualitative development of human resources

Tenth Plan & three-Year Interim Plan regarding S&T

includes;

A. Development & Expansion


A high-level National Science & Technology Council & coordination committee will be constituted for national vision & policy Ministry of Science & Technologys competence would be enhanced

Status of Industrial Technology in Nepal


Because of Liberalization & Privatization industries are

free to use newer technologies. Status of Industrial technology can be assessed by;

Most organizations are dependent on low-graded technologies. Lacking in high-skill products & export of Raw or semi-processed items. Critical demands are mechanical skills, IT professionals, chemical technician

Status of Information Technology in Nepal


RONAST & Mercantile introduced e-mail services in

1993, using dial-up facilities provided by ERNET, New Delhi Mercantile Office Systems, first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Nepal, started in July 1995. Education, travel, tourism, media are highly affected by IT in Nepal. Government of Nepal (GON) adopted Electronic Transactions Act, 2007.

development of IT sector in the country through;
