The Republic of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos
Respublika) is a country in northern Europe,
Situated along the south-eastern shore of the
Baltic Sea, sharing borders with Latvia to the
north, Belarus to the southeast, Poland, and the
Russian exclave of the Kaliningrad Oblast to the
southwest.
Lithuania is a member of NATO and of the
European Union. The population is 3.4 million, the
largest city and the capital is Vilnius.
Northern Ireland (Irish: Tuaisceart Éireann,
Ulster Scots: Norlin Airlann) is a constituent
country of the United Kingdom, lying in the
northeast of the island of Ireland, covering
5,459 square miles (14,139 km²), about a sixth
of the island's total area.[1] At the time of the
UK Census in April 2001, its population was
1,685,000, between a quarter and a third of
the island's total population.
