In front of you is an ACT English practice test. You will have two and half minutes to answer these questions. Do not begin until you are told to do so.
The end of the unit is Friday. If you have any work to turn in from Beowulf still, it must be turned in by then or it will remain a zero. Your only homework is to get all your missing work in. Grades will be run tomorrow for eligibility and some of you need to get work in or else you will not be eligible.

You have a little more than 8 minutes and 30 seconds to complete each passage. If you spend 3 minutes reading the passage you have about 30 seconds to answer each question.
There are two different types of questions on the ACT reading test
1. Questions referring to what is explicitly stated 2. Questions that require you to use reasoning to determine implicit meanings.
Begin the reading test with the Natural Science passage. It is considered the easiest of all the readings so you should do your best to get all these questions right before moving on to the more difficult readings. Before reading a passage, read the questions first. When you go to read the passage after underline and take notes when you recognize where a question may be answered. 50% of the questions come directly from the text. The other 50% require you to make inferences from the reading. If you skim the passage you should be able to answer these questions.
