Physics is a branch of physical sciences and studies matter, energy, and their relationship. It is mainly divided into two branches: Classical Physics and Modern Physics.
Modern Physics
Developed after Einsteins time and explains behavior of atomic nuclei and theories of relativity.
KINEMATICS
It is the study of motion without regard to the cause of it. Topics under kinematic motion are speed, velocity and acceleration.
SPEED
How fast or slow an object is moving. d t = distance over time Usually expressed in meter per second (m/s) or kilometer per hour (kph).
VELOCITY
It is speed with direction and uses the same units as speed. d t = displacement over time Displacement is the straight line distance from the starting point to the end point.
ACCELERATION
How fast an object changes its speed. v a= v = difference in t velocity over time Usually measured in meters per second per second or simply second squared. (m/s2)
f i
Scalars
It is a value that only has magnitude and can be described with a single number.
VECTORS
Usually named with a letter and half arrow. Like A . Pythagorean theorem is used to get values: x 2 + y2 . Trigonometry is used to get angles of direction (SOH CAH TOA)
FREEFALL MOTION
It is when objects fall only by action of gravity. The g (acceleration due to gravity) is equal to 9.8 meters per second squared.
PROJECTILE MOTION
A combination of freefall and uniform acceleration. It has a vertical and horizontal component of moving objects called projectiles.
PROJECTILE MOTION
The longest range is covered when the angle is at 45 degrees. There are usually 2 cases: when projectiles are launched from an elevation an when it launched from the ground with an angle.
