Slump Test

The slump test measures the workability and water content of fresh concrete by filling a cone-shaped mold in layers and tamping each layer, then removing the mold and measuring the subsidence of the concrete; a collapse or shear slump indicates an excessively wet mix while a true slump within 3-7 inches ensures good workability and consistency without segregation of the ingredients.

Slump Test

Introduction
Slump test used for the measurement of a property of fresh concrete. The test only measure present of water in concrete and workability.

Apparatus
Tamping rod 16 mm diameter Scoop

Slump cone 200 mm diameter for bottom opening 100 mm diameter for top opening

Tray

Ruler

METHODOLOGY

Fill the mold in 3 layer

Each layer will Tamping 25 times before next layer be added

Determine displacement for classify concrete

Must pull mold 3-7 second for effective result

Collapse slump:
Collapse slump will generally mean that the mix is too wet or that it is a high mix

Shear slump:
Shear slump mean the top portion of the concrete shear off and slips sideway.

True slump:
True slump mean the concrete simply collapes
