HAND INJURY PREVENTION

HOW TO PREVENT HAND INJURIES: Do not try to catch falling material. Get help when lifting heavy materials. Always lock-off and tag energy sources. When applying force (push or pull) be prepared for an unexpected slip or release. Recognize that gloves will not offer you the means of total protection from injuries. Properly plan each job activity. Check material/equipment for rough or sharp edges before handling. Make sure moving machinery is sufficiently guarded. Maintain an effective barrier between hands and hazards by using tools or other aids. Maintain good housekeeping in work areas. Use the proper gloves for the job. Ensure appropriate warning signs/ barricades/ guards are in place.
