Gamification and Game-Based Learning

The document proposes a system called 360-PlayLearn that combines gamification and game-based learning for virtual learning environments on interactive television. It aims to provide online education and edutainment content covering STEM, history and general knowledge subjects. The system architecture includes components for media asset management, cloud hosting, a gamification API and interfaces that allow content to be deployed on desktops, mobiles and televisions. It is intended to take a constructivist approach to education and widening access to learning for all. Future work will involve requirements analysis, implementing the 360-PlayLearn platform and evaluating the system.
