Audio Lingual Method

The audio lingual method focuses on pronunciation through repetition and reinforcement of language skills. It sequences language skills as listening, speaking, reading and writing. Activities include memorizing dialogues, repetition drills where students mimic the teacher, and dictation drills where students write what they hear the teacher say. The goal is to break language down into segments and use behavioral techniques like repetition and immediate feedback to teach pronunciation and structure through listening and speaking practice first before introducing reading and writing.
