Nuclear power technolo(y produces )aterials that are acti#e in e)ittin( radiation and are there!ore called *radioacti#e$+ ,e are all e-posed daily to a little radiation but too )uch or in )ass .uantities can destroy cells, cause or(ans to shut down or a!ter lon( and continuous e-posure cause cancer$

The Chernobyl Power Plant had a hu(e power e-cursion that destroyed the reactor which resulted in a se#ere release o! radioacti#ity into the en#iron)ent$ Two people died in the initial stea) e-plosion, but )ost deaths !ro) the accident were attributed to radiation$
