Honing
Machine
Description:
A precision abrasion process in which a relatively
small amount of material is removed from a
surface by means of abrasive stones.

Purpose:
Honing is done to establish a shallow crisscross pattern which helps keeping the cylinder
and piston lubricated as the oil film is clinked
better to the cylinder walls.
It also remove/smoothen the groove often left
where the piston change direction.

Perthometer
Description:
The pertho meter is used to measure
surface parameters of the cylinder
liner during honing operation to
evaluate surface roughness.

Fig.1: Prior to honing the diagram shows


an almost completely glazed surface.
Fig.2: After coarse (basic) honing the
diagram shows a rough surface with
deep groves and high peaks. Work has
been done to remove ovality and
scuffing.
Fig. 3: After fine (plateau) honing the
high peaks have been honed down
providing a smooth running surface for
the piston rings.

Valve seat grinder (Pneumatic)

Features:

Range of operation 40-270 mm diameter


Preset to any angle(s) from 0 to 60
Dowel locked to achieve correct angle
Air driven
Automatic outward feed mechanism

Purpose:
The goal of grinding the seats and valves is to seal
the opening between the two.

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)


Widely used with either dry

powders, in the testing of
welds, automotive or
railroad components,

grey iron castings, forgings,
and in plant inspection,
maintenance and repair.

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)


When the yoke is energized, an intense magnetic field is created between the legs. This
field can best be described as a multiplicity of invisible line of magnetic force extending
across the gap between the legs. As the yoke is applied to the ferro magnetic
component, the magnetic circuit is closed and the field enters the part making its
passage between the legs at and below the surface. A crack across this field cuts the
magnetic circuit; the crack sides become opposite poles of a magnet and a leakage
field occurs in the air above the crack. Magnetic particles are attracted by this leakage
field and indicate the location of the flaw.

accurately measuring holes.

Flue Gas Analyzer


Description:
Flue gas analysis is the determination of the
completeness of the combustion of the carbon
in the fuel, and the amount and distribution of
the heat losses due to incomplete combustion.

Purpose:
This analysis is done to measure the relative
proportions by volume, of carbon dioxide (CO2),
oxygen (O), and carbon monoxide (CO),
compounds of nitrous oxide (NOx) into the air
fuel mixture to maintain the proper air fuel ratio.

Insulation Tester
Description:
A measurement that detects the insulation
health of a current carrying conductor.
Purpose:
To detect the insulation condition among
the
windings of alternator, transformer,
motors etc.

Infrared Thermometer
Description:
A thermometer that measures temperature
from a distance using infrared ray. This
gives more accurate reading than analog
meter.
Purpose:
Can measure both low and high temperature.
Useful while measuring very high temperature
at a remote place accurately. It can measure
-30C to 500C

Digital Clamp Meter


Description:

An ammeter that can measure current of a live


conductor over the insulation without having to
make physical contact with it, or to disconnect it
for insertion through the probe.

Purpose:
This is usually used to measure sinusoidal current
(AC) consuming by different loads.

Power Quality Analyzer


Description:

It can measure power quality of connected load.


Which helps to detect the impact of load on
generator.
Purpose:
There are some loads which has bad impact on
generator. These load create disturbance on
generator. To find the nature of load and its
effect on generator can be identified using
power quality analyzer.
