In what way does this product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real products?
The layout is a typical convention of real
products.
- Full page picture.
- Articles arranged around picture.
-
Type of articles. All the articles I have
included in my magazine are the typical
kinds of articles you would find in a
mainstream magazine.
- Reviews.
- Competitions.
- Scandals.
- Gossip columns.
- Poster pages.
-
Language
- The language used is another convention
of real products, it is not too difficult too
How does my product represent
particular social groups?
• Rule of three.
- In my questionnaire I sent out, the three colours
red black and white were the most popular
choice and were also the three colours that
looked best together. Everyone i gave a
questionnaire to was within my target
audience, so this represents what teenagers
like.
• Articles; the types of articles I have used are
representative of the fact that my magazine
is aimed at teenagers.
- Gossip columns.
- Scandals .
- Competition pages.
- The kind of articles I have used also show that my
magazine is for an audience that enjoys
mainstream music.
-
• Pictures.
What kind of media institution
might distribute this product?
• I think that my product would be distributed
by a large media institution.
- From a survey I carried out on my
magazine, my view, along with the
people who done my survey is that my
magazine would be distributed by a
large institution.
- The general opinion is that my magazine
has a lot of typical conventions that you
would find in a typical magazine you
would find in shops all over the UK.
- E.g Layout and types of articles.
There are advantages and disadvantages
of being distributed by a large institution,
although there are more pros than cons.
For example, with a larger institution, you
can cross-advertise with other magazine
within the institution. Smaller institutes are
less likely to be able to do this.
- Also, the larger the company, the more
likely it is that they have a bigger
income and so will be better equipped
as they can afford to do things such as
carry out more in depth media
research, which smaller institutes
cannot do.

How did I attract/adress the
target audience?
• In order to attract the target
audience, I had to take a lot of
things into consideration. For
example, the colours I would
use, and the kind of things that
would feature in my product.
•
• Before I made my magazine, I gave
out a questionnaire to people
within my target audience, with
the hope that I would gain some
ideas as to how I should design
my product and the type of
things I should include. The
questionnaires proved to be very
helpful and I got a lot of ideas
from them.
