Different Soot Blower: Their Working Principle

This document describes and compares different types of sootblowers and their cleaning principles. It discusses long retractable, wall deslagger, rotating element, rake, multi media, helical, and axial sootblowers. Each sootblower type is equipped with nozzles and moves in a different way during the cleaning process, and each has its main application for effectively cleaning different types of fouling on heating surfaces.

DIFFERENT SOOT

BLOWER
&
THEIR WORKING
PRINCIPLE
Long Retractable Sootblower
 The lance tube with two opposite high
performance nozzles is helically moved into
the boiler.
 Main field of application:
Effective cleaning of tenacious fouling at
heating surface banks with high flue gas
temperatures
Cleaning Principle
Wall Deslagger
 During the blowing process the nozzle head
with two opposite high-performance nozzles is
helically moved into the boiler.
 Main field of application
Effective cleaning of tenacious fouling at wall
heating surfaces with heavy fouling and high
flue gas temperatures
Cleaning principle
Rotating Element Sootblower
 The blowing tube is equipped with high-
performance nozzles over the whole length and
performs a rotary movement during the
blowing process.
 Main field of application:
Effective cleaning of heating surface banks
with slight fouling.
Cleaning principle
Rake Sootblower
 The blowing rake is equipped with high-
performance nozzles and is axially moved into
the boiler during the blowing process.
 Main field of application:
 Effective cleaning of gilled tube heating
surfaces and DeNOx plants with slight fouling
and low flue gas temperatures.
Cleaning principle
Multi Media Sootblower
 Selective cleaning with different blowing
media (air, steam, water) in a single sootblower.
 Main field of application:
 Effective cleaning of gas and air heaters
by means of steam or air and water.
 Powerful but selective cleaning of superheater
with heavy slagging.
Cleaning principle
Helical Sootblower
 When blowing starts the blowing tube with the
high-performance nozzles is helically moved
into the boiler.
 Main field of application:
Effective cleaning of tenacious fouling at
heating surface banks.
Cleaning principle
Axial Sootblower
 When blowing begins the lance tube with two
opposite high-performance nozzles is axially
moved into the boiler.
 Main field of application:
Effective cleaning of heavily fouled
heating surface banks
