ZigBee is a low-cost, low-power wireless mesh networking technology standard used for automation and remote control applications. It operates in the industrial, scientific and medical radio bands (868 MHz in Europe, 915 MHz in America, and 2.4 GHz globally) and supports star, tree and mesh network topologies. ZigBee devices can transmit data over long distances by passing data through intermediate devices to reach more distant ones, thus enabling low-power wide-area networks ideal for Internet of Things applications.
