CCMS - Introduction

The Computer Center management system(CCMS) is a


collection of tools and utilities which provides the monitoring
and management backbone for the SAP environment.
Introduced in R/3 Release 4.0A.
Allows to monitor, control, and configure your SAP System
which includes:
Database Administration
Spool
Background Processing
Profile Maintenance
Workprocess maintenance
Timely, reliable reporting of critical system events as alerts
Monitoring multiple SAP Systems, including host systems and database
Starting and stopping SAP instances.
Monitoring and analyzing the workload of OS, Network, database engine.

Database Management
With the CCMS Database Planning Calendar, you can schedule
and track the results of online and offline database backups
The cost-based optimizer tool, which can be scheduled in the
database calendar, enables you to update statistics on the
tables that your system actually uses.

Profiling:
For fine-tuning the configuration of your Business Framework

Graphical Control Tools:


The CCMS offers parallel graphical monitors for carrying out
administrative tasks such as starting or stopping servers,
viewing logs, and checking user and workprocess activity.

System and Business Process Throughput Statistics


Provides detailed statistics for tracking system activity and for
visualizing and analyzing application-related business process
activity.
To monitor user activity in the system, and usage of output
and other services tools and procedures for operating the
entire R/3 environment

CCMS - Monitoring Features

Up to forty SAP Systems can be monitored from a single


alert monitor.

CCMS is a standard part of the SAP Basis and is available


in every SAP System at no extra cost.

system monitoring.

Instrument any SAP or external component for inclusion in


the alert monitor.

Allows system administrators to intervene directly in


critical situations accordingly, using the analysis methods
provided by monitoring architecture.
